Several times when I've been trying to buy something, asking a price that's a bit under market value (not A LOT under, maybe 1.5k on something expensive - I have to make a profit, after all!) I've had a person come into my thread, and say either, "You need to up your price because the market price is ___" even if they aren't selling one, OR "Well, I'm buying one for ____, so anyone who's selling needs to buy from me, not Warrior Bard!" in which the price is waaay larger than my asked one.
Both these tactics basically kill my chances of buying anything for a reasonable price in that thread, and mean that I have to spend another large amount of time making a new thread and bumping until someone buys.
Has anyone else experienced this? What's the traditional etiquette for dealing with these people?

ugh....the other day i had like 5 situations like that and one girl wanted 3k for stinkin angelic boots...i dont think much of it i just ditch their thread and move on sweatdrop

A simple, slightly crude solution.
:: as soon as you see a post like that, go into their profile and add them to your ignored list ::
This will basically delete there post, the post will no longer appear in your thread and then others have a chance to come in and sell to you.

Ignored people cant post in your thread?!

yeah, its a trick you learn when 20+ people spam and ruin your bump thread a day for over 2 years ^.^ I hope everyones finds that useful.
Its also why I got rid of my blacklist, my blacklist is now my ignored list-- anyone on my blacklist cannot access any of my things (guild, thread, etc). Which is over 150 people surprised

This really gets on my nerves. Now I have taken a more relaxed note because if you put in your rules for buying that there is no thread jumping/advertising then you can get them banned. smile
Now I report and create another thread.

^_^;; I can understand people saying it when it's like.. 5-10 less than the asking price or market price. o.o But 1.5k?

I dunno. The highjackers annoy me less than the copy and paste posters of "I'll buy your __(item)__ for __(price)__. Send trade if you accept." Any time you see that sort of message in the exchange forum, you just know that they're trying to hit as many topics as they can, as fast as they can, and hope they hit newbies to get the items for really insanely low prices that they can turn around on sell on the marketplace for profits.
Sadly, the ignore feature is the only way to deal with highjackers though... my ignore list can testify to that >_> *pokes the 200-some odd names*
