Details
Chisi is such an energetic and curious rat, it's unusual to see him lying around. He doesn't sit still even when he is at rest, since he will shift his body and twitch his tail almost constantly. He can also be brave for a rat, since his insatiable curiosity can drive him to dash into new places and situations without checking for danger first. Chisi acts and reacts without a thought about the consequences, which makes him extremely compulsive and easily distracted. Usually, Chisi excels at tasks that do not require intense focus, as his mind will wander the moment he gets bored.
Despite the flood and his tendency to get uncomfortable respiratory infections, Chisi remains a cheerful and optimistic rat who likes to support his companions with encouraging words. As soon as someone's mood darkens, Chisi will be there to offer a helping paw. Sometimes, he may also do or say things that seem bizarre to other rats, since he has become a bit eccentric from being isolated due to his illness for most of young life. But, as strange as he may seem at times, he is perfectly harmless. Most of his odd behaviour comes from his joy of being able to be around other rats again. Though he is thankful to the Great Ones for caring for him, he doesn't miss life in a cage.

Details
Akeshu was once a tough, hardened warrior, but his heart has been softened by tragedy in his life. Most of the time, he remains a fearless and unforgiving keshu who has no patience for foolishness by other rats, especially those who do not follow or obey his Ukeshu. He tries to stay level-headed and emotionally distant from most situations, but his feelings often overwhelm him. He is not afraid to show anger in public; however, he knows showing anything else would damage his reputation, so he usually keeps his other feelings locked away until he can release them in solitude. Sometimes, Akeshu gets the urge to wander away from the colony to find peace and quiet, so he may disappear temporarily if he has no duties to attend to.
Despite his adamant declarations against them, Akeshu doesn't truly hate domestic rats. In the flood, Akeshu lost his closest layjisk, which opened his eyes to the fact that all rats had suffered losses, no matter their origins. While he still treats domestic rats with hate, deep down he is curious and wants to know more about them. If one wanders into the colony's territory, he may give them a chance to escape before they are seen by anyone else. Akeshu will vehemently deny any feelings for them to other rats, however. He doesn't want any other wild rats to know about his soft spot for them, and the fact that the domestic rats often remind him of his mild-mannered layjisk, for whom he still mourns.

Details
Early exposure to the Great Ones has made Kitty firmly believe in their divinity. She has taken her name from the many pleasing sounds she heard them make a youngster and she wears it proudly as a token of her loyalty to the Great Ones.
Generally, she blames the Wild Ones for the flood and the disappearance of the Great Ones, so she tends to look upon them with a kind of haughty disdain. She believes that their ignorance to the Great Ones brought misfortune on them all, and she dislikes her new life of scavenging for food when she once had it handed it to her.
On the other hand, she is quite loving to the other rats that were originally born in the store, and their descendants. She is gentle and kind, preferring to let others take the lead in decision-making, and never voicing her negative opinions out loud. She is clearly not the fiercest of rats, so she often sticks to simple tasks like caring for the young and foraging where it is safe. New things tend to scare her, which makes her avoid tasks that would involve venturing into a strange territory. Only the thought that the Great Ones may return keep Kitty from losing all hope.

What Ashini lacks in size, she makes up for in attitude. She refuses to let anyone push her around despite her small stature, and if anyone calls her "tiny" or any other variation of small, they will feel the wrath of her temper. Ashini is a survivor through and through, so she isn't afraid to take on danger when she has the chance to succeed. Unfortunately, she isn't afraid to take on other rats, either. Even under the care of the Great Ones, she was never friendly or sociable to anyone. While she will tolerate the company of other rats, she doesn't usually form close bonds with them and any who make her angry will quickly feel her fearsome bite. Often, her words to others are snappy and quick, as if she is bored or impatient. She isn't completely malicious, however. She would never hurt another rat just for the sake of causing pain, nor would she inflict injuries on the young. Ashini will never be a kind rat, but it is possible to earn her respect over time.
Like most rats, she barely escaped the flood with her life. Occasionally she wonders where her cagemates have gone, though she doesn't spend a lot of time dwelling on her past.

Details
Sweetie, named by the Great Ones for her particularly affectionate demeanor, did not deal with their loss as well as some rats. She misses them dearly along with her absent mother and sisters, who managed to escape the water but haven't been seen since. Sweetie tends to be a rat on the melancholic side, and it isn't unusual to see her staring off at something that isn't there while she loses herself in thoughts. However, when she isn't immersed in her memories, she is a kind, sociable rat who tends to take on a motherly role around others, even if they are older than her. She is learning the skills of a Nosobo, so she is happy to take care of the sick and injured, and she loves the rewarding feeling that she gets for helping others heal. Sweetie's sharp eyes can often spot and judge the severity of an injury from a distance, so she is always quick to run ahead and provide assistance to a struggling rat. Having a patient can quickly snap her out of a dark mood. The only time she might take out her anger and sadness on another rat is if they put themselves at an unnecessary risk. Sweetie isn't afraid to chide others like misbehaving jask if they go off somewhere unsafe, especially if they return with an injury.

Crazy One earned his name well. Despite his unique colouration and fur, he was never chosen to go to the Beyond because of his wild and unpredictable behaviour. He is always in a panic, which can be seen in his wide unsettled eyes, and in the time of the Great Ones, he often bit their hands and escaped long enough to cause confusion throughout the store. By the time he was returned to his cage, he'd be having a severe anxiety attack that would make him run around with a frantic intensity.
The flood has done nothing to soothe Crazy's nerves. He is as neurotic as ever, and even though he is already an older male, he is as clueless as a jask when it comes to knowing how to survive. Everything is to be feared as far as he is concerned, so he doesn't bother learning about things when instinct is telling him to flee. He is even afraid of other rats, which makes it very hard for Crazy to feel comfortable enough to socialize. However, rats who speak to him softly and kindly can sometimes coax him out of hiding, since he always longs for safe company. He is naive enough to believe what he is told, so the right rat can easily manipulate him through lies and false promises.

Details
Arat wants to learn everything about the world that the Great Ones have left behind. His curiosity started when he was very young, after an incident that found him lingering behind a cash register. Since then, he has been trying to figure out what all the Great Ones' objects do, what they could do for rats, and if the Great Ones have left them some kind of message. He believes that their departure was no accident and that the flood was the start of a world even more spectacular than the Beyond, where rats may truly thrive. Sometimes, Arat tries to spread his beliefs to other rats, even if doing so puts him at risk.
Constantly searching for answers has developed Arat's memory and intelligence. He often hoards away new discoveries in his nest and he is quick to put together new ideas from bits and pieces of information. Usually, his solutions are quite strange. Arat is also a relaxed rat who takes everything in stride. No one can ruffle his fur the wrong way since he tends to laugh all of his troubles away. He doesn't mind if others think his opinions are wrong, either. Arat admits that his theories could be inaccurate, since he does not have the insight of an Usoothe, but he is happy to support them until they are disproven without a doubt. He enjoys a good debate as well, especially if he can impress some pretty females at the same time.

Diva was named by the Great Ones for her pristine appearance and the confident way she carries herself, and she has not changed much since the flood. Diva is a proud and tidy rat who likes to keep everything more or less in order. She takes great care in her appearance, so she keeps her fur clean and well dyed. She believes that all the best rats have fashionable dye in their fur and she isn't afraid to suggest certain patterns and colours for her companions. Her dye, which may look random to an observer, has been carefully mixed and applied by Diva herself. Her personal mixture is a secret that she refuses to share with any other rat.
Despite her vanity and love for attention, Diva is a kind rat who means well. While she may come off as a bit critical, she is friendly and wants the best for fellow rats. The only time she may be purposefully rude to others is when she meets a rat of wild heritage. She thinks that wild rats are crude and uncivilized, especially for their habit of digging around in dirt and filth. Around them, Diva may smile and act polite, but her words will be laced with subtle sarcasm and displeasure for them. Most of the time, Diva will avoid socializing with rats that possess wild blood unless she is cornered and cannot gracefully decline from a conversation.

Details
Beneful is one of the gentlest rats out there, and she handles everything with the utmost care. While she tends to be slow to complete tasks, her caution and eye for detail make her very skilled at studying new areas and constructing safe, warm nests well away from danger. She is also very dedicated to her companions, since she knows all too well that everyone has to work together to survive. Her abandonment as a newborn has taught her a deep fear of being left alone, so she does not like being by herself for more than a few hours unless she has something important to do. Beneful would work her paws to the bone for the benefit of others simply because she is so thankful for the care she received as a newborn. Doing everything she can to make others happy is her way of repaying the debt she believes that she owes to the world.
Around others, Beneful tends to be very modest and shy. She is careful to be as inoffensive as possible when she speaks. Since she was often the target of disapproving comments, she doesn't believe that her self-worth is equal to the worth of other rats. Unfortunately, this means it is not difficult for others to walk right over her.

Rockstar seems to have taken his name to heart. He is an alert and very energetic male, despite the large size he had inherited from his father. All he wants to do is enjoy himself and chase after females without a care for anything else. Trying to get him to work for his food and space can be a frustrating task for other rats. On top of that, Rockstar isn't the smartest rat in the store. He is ignorant of the store's past and he has no desire to learn about it, either. Rockstar doesn't understand the pain that some rats have gone through, so he tends to be insensitive. Nevertheless, Rockstar doesn't mean any harm. He may be selfish, but he is generally a happy and friendly guy. He can be a good companion if others are willing to overlook his faults. However, Rockstar can be a bad influence due to his carelessness, so young or easily manipulated rats should stay clear of him.

Lichaj's vanity has no boundaries. He was pampered by the Great Ones for his beautiful fur, which has given him a bloated feeling of self-worth and a superiority complex. He even renamed himself from the pet word the Great Ones had given him to reflect how much he adores his own fur. Lichaj is likely one of the best groomed rats in the store; he keeps his fur as pristine as possible in case others see him. Lichaj tends to dream of being surrounded by females with as equally as pleasing fur as his, who will tend to his every need so that he no longer has to work for his food. He is the type who will do the bare minimum to survive, and he prefers to lie around until extreme circumstances force him to get moving, or if a pretty female wanders by. This lazy way of living also makes Lichaj a very careful rat when it comes to controlling resources. He knows he shouldn't take advantage of what he has, so he manages everything he finds so it may last a long time.

Milkbone isn't the most pleasant character to be around. He is weak and whiny, with a sickly disposition. He is always sniffling and complaining about something, no matter how minor an inconvenience it is. Milkbone feels the need to make up for his physical inadequacies by commenting on everything, usually in a negative manner, and trying to tell others what to do, even when it's none of his business. Milkbone likes gossip, so he is usually sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. He is also a sneaky thief and a trickster, especially towards rats that do not know him well. If he is caught in the act, he tries to get out of it through pity by talking about his poor health. Anyone who feels sorry for him will have trouble getting rid of him, since he is very clingy to those who show him kindness, because he thinks he will get something out of it. Everything he does is purely for selfish reasons, so Milkbone should not be trusted.

The only time Thechi can keep a secret is when she is asleep. Her mouth, mind, and paws are always moving at a furious pace, so she is rarely found sitting idly. She never quite stops speaking even at times when she needs to be quiet, since she tends to whisper or mouth her thoughts until she can safely speak out loud again. All of her activity means that she has trouble paying attention to other rats at times, and she often forgets what she is told. On top of that, when she does happen to remember, nothing will stop her from repeating what she has heard. She would even divulge colony secrets to outsiders without a second thought. Nevertheless, if someone gets angry at her for her behaviour, she will feel extremely guilty and will try to make up for her mistakes. She might try to be more careful with her storytelling, but she can never resist speaking for very long.
