Bodytype: Badai has a long, angular face and close set eyes. He takes a bit more after his African ancestry, but he does have some distinctly Malaysian traits, like his defined cheekbones and eyebrows. Overall he is fairly tall in comparison to his sister, and while not necessarily muscular he is nowhere near skinny. He is well-toned, and average in weight for his size. His skin is a bit darker than his sister's, more towards African than Malaysian, but still a blend of the two.
Hair: Badai's hair has seen a lot of abuse, but somehow it manages to take it and stay looking soft and perfect. He has a messy hair line that is longest at his chin, with bangs that typically fall into one eye rather than being trimmed or otherwise contained. While his hair is naturally dark, he routinely bleaches it and keeps it dyed a nice sandy brown with lighter highlights. His hair is straightened every morning to fight off the natural frizz from his African ancestry.
Eyes: A bright lime green, much like his sisters, and slanted from his Malaysian ancestry.
Fashion: Badai has a very fresh, yet classic style. He heavily favors button-up dress shirts combined with dark-colored skinny jeans, and often finishes this off with a black fedora and a pair of well worn Chucks. Accessories are limited at best, although he can occasionally be talked into wearing simple arm bands by Chiku, and cord necklaces that stay close to his throat. Color-wise, he heavily favors more earthy colors like all shades of brown, clay oranges and reds, and deep greens.
Personality Traits: [+] Selling Ice To Eskimos - Ask someone about Badai, and the most common word that comes up to describe him is charming. He has a way with words, and a knack for knowing just what to say to get on someone's good side. He's respectful of boundaries too, and will never push someone into doing something for his sake, although he normally doesn't have to push them at all. Of course he is by no means going to get along with everyone, but that doesn't mean won't do his best to charm the pants off of them anyway. Both figuratively and literally.
[+] The Square Root Of 324 Is 18 - Badai has always been rather intelligent, and has a mind made for facts and equations. He finds things easy to remember once he's read or been shown them, and even easier to put into practice. He's always been good at math, and can rattle off historical dates and rules of grammar like it's no one's business. This trait isn't something he openly advertises, and really only his family and teachers even know about it. Even his close friends don't have much of an idea of just how smart he can be.
[+] We Were All Born This Way - Acceptance is a trait easy to come by in Badai, especially when it comes to those society typically labels as being abnormal. He's a rather vocal supporter of LGBTQ rights, and is always willing to stick up for someone being bullied. Those who would normally be referred to as misfits almost always find a great ally and friend in him, no matter what it is that makes them different. In fact, the only people he really has no tolerance for are those who are intolerant of others. He has no patience for someone who can't accept another human being for who they are.
[-] Lost Interest Halfway Through - Despite his intelligence, Badai has a fatal flaw that interferes with his grades. It is hard to keep his interest, and many a teacher has tried and failed to keep his mind occupied enough for his grades to reflect his ability. More often than not he's prone to skimming through his books in classes and half-assing his homework, and somehow he still manages to maintain a B average. Motivating himself to do better in school is not his forte, but he figures he does well enough as it is.
[-] To Flatter A Pretty Face - Charm plays a big role in Badai's life, but so does flirting. He's the type of guy most might regard as a womanizer were they only paying attention to the frequency of his flirting with others. Generally speaking, if you aren't related to him you're free game when it comes to romantic advances. This is a trait that often causes tension between him and others. Needless to say, there are plenty of people who don't approve of his tendency to flirt with everyone he takes a shine to.
[-] They Hurt You, I Kill Them - When it comes to those he cares about, Badai is viciously overprotective. Each of Chiku's friends has had to pass his "are you even fit to breath the same air as my baby sister" test, and boys? He's even harsher on them. The idea of anyone hurting his friends or his sister is something he doesn't want to even think about, and because of this he has a tendency to go a bit overboard when it comes to keeping them safe. Even a stray glance can set off his inborn nature to protect, and god help anyone who actually hurt them. While he is not a naturally violent person, he is more than willing to fight to protect those he is closest to, whether the fight is really warranted or not.
Hobbies: Cooking - Badai loves to cook, and has been making food ever since he was old enough to open the refrigerator. He loves experimenting with herbs, spices, and new techniques and lends a helping hand with pretty much every meal in the household. He is already planning on pursuing further education in the culinary arts, although he's still undecided on whether he truly wants to make a career out of it. Why spoil something he loves by turning it into a job?
Capoeira - Badai has been attending Capoeira lessons since he was twelve, and has gotten fairly good at the martial art over the three years he's been practicing it. He first talked to his father about it, after he noticed some of his friends in school getting picked on. Of course, he's under strict instructions not to use it outside of his lessons unless it's absolutely necessary, and his mother insists that if he ever slips below a B average that his Capoeira classes will be the first thing to go.
Roleplaying Games - While he isn't quite as passionate about tabletop RPGs as the rest of his family, Badai does indulge himself in the game ever so often. He is rather notoriously bad at it though, and always seems to have the first character to die on a campaign no matter what he does. He's slightly better at console games, but not by much.
Guitar - When Badai has nothing else to do chances are pretty good he's goofing around on an old acoustic guitar that used to belong to his father. Every so often when he catches Isi with some free time he'll badger a quick lesson out of him, but most of what he knows is self taught. He doesn't openly advertise it, as he's still clumsy with it and often fumbles, but he always jokes that one of these days when he's better he'll whip out his guitar and serenade the person he plans on marrying. That's romantic, right?

The aura will have no effect if the potential for love isn't already there, and is in no way able to bring about a "love at first sight" situation.

Father: Isimangaliso Ajali
Badai's 40-year-old father who is of mixed African descent. He's a quiet and caring man, although he does have a tendency to be a bit quirky with his family. Badai looks up to him as an ideal example of both a husband and father, and the two of them are extremely close. He's never afraid to tell his father anything, good or bad, and knows he would never meet judgment for his choices from him. Especially when it comes to love or romance.
Mother: Angin Putih Ajali (nee Kebenaran)
Badai's 36-year-old mother who is of Malaysian descent. She is exceptionally kind and lady-like, and is always willing to listen to her children. Although Badai isn't quite as close to her as he is to Isi, he adores his mother and always makes an effort to remember that despite giving birth to him, she is still a woman. Mother's day is always something special with him in the house, and often involves breakfast in bed and freshly cut flowers. Siblings:
Younger Sister: Chiku Ajali
She is precisely ten minutes younger than Badai, and he never fails to remind her of this fact at least once a day. One of her favorite activities is annoying him, and Badai makes a habit of returning the favor as often as possible. But it's fairly obvious to most that this is just playful teasing and one of the ways they show their affection for one another. The two of them get along very well, and Badai is extremely overprotective of her. Anyone interested in her romantically would have to meet his approval as well as their father's.
Younger Brother: Theluji Ajali
The youngest of the triplets; Theluji isn't mentioned by Badai much. While he still loves his brother, he doesn't see much of him these days. Theluji has been living with their maternal grandfather, Ribut Kebenaran, for quite some time. He's slated to take over the family business due to the former heir, Angin, stepping down from the position to be with Isimangaliso. Job: Angin works as a secretary for a local medical office, while Isimangaliso is an airline pilot. Theluji is the only one of the Ajali triplets to 'have a job', since he sometimes does intern-like work for his grandfather, as part of the learning process.
Home: Badai's family lives in a Victorian-style, blue and pale green painted two-story house about ten blocks away from Celeste High School. The master bedroom, living room, kitchen, and such are on the bottom floor. His own room, another bathroom, and Chiku's room are on the second floor, along with another room that's used as his and Chiku's entertainment room.
Family Life: Life in the Ajali house can be rather lively and frantic at times. Although Angin, Isi, and Badai tend to be rather calm, with Chiku added into the mix things always wind up fairly lively... Especially when she starts annoying Badai. Any time there are video games or an RP session going on, things can get fairly loud too, since the family seems to attract people who are only slightly less energetic than Chiku.
Mornings are always the most frantic, since there's breakfasts to be made and eaten, lunches to be grabbed, and a quick once-over of homework from the night before, before running out to school or work respectively.
Add in the daily 'feeding' of their pet ball python, Chata, and you have a rather entertaining house.

An old friend from his days in Elementary and Middle school, Badai has nothing but fond feelings for Alais. In his younger days he had quite the crush on the lady, although by now he's resigned himself to the fact that their relationship is strictly platonic. But that certainly doesn't stop him from flirting with her, and he's made something of a tradition out of asking her out for notable occasions. He isn't sure she realizes it, but Alais is always the first person Badai asks out for events like dances and holidays like Valentine's Day.

 Is there anything I need to know about Badai's love life?
First and foremost is the fact that Badai is polyamorous. What this means is he believes love is something that should not be restricted to being shared between two people, and he often has multiple partners at any given time - with the consent and knowledge of all parties involved, of course.
...parties?
Yes, parties. I use this term because using a word like "he" or "she" would not really give the full scope of Badai's relationship. He is panromantic and heterosexual. He will enter into a romantic relationship with someone of any gender identity - male, female, gender queer, agender, etc. But he is exclusively sexually attracted to women, and will only have a sexual relationship with them when the times comes.
What's Badai's class schedule look like?
Currently Badai is enrolled in English II, Algebra II, Chemistry, World History, Driver's Ed, and French II. He got PhysEd and French I out of the way as a Freshman, and plans to takes French III & IV, Cooking I & Gourmet Cooking, Theater I, and Newspaper/Yearbook as the rest of his electives for his Junior and Senior years.
Is Badai enrolled in any Honors classes and does he plan on taking AP classes?
No he is not, and he'd rather avoid AP classes if at all possible. He finds it tricky enough to maintain a solid B average when he finds most of his classes so boring it should be criminal, and would rather not risk taking on any classes with even more potential to bore him to death... Even if he is smart enough to be placed in them.
How does Badai's charm clash with his overprotectiveness? Does all charm go out the window? If they aggravate that trait of his, does he do whatever it takes to get them away from those he's being overprotective of, or does he put up a facade to try and get them to leave of 'their own' accord?
To a certain extent Badai will attempt to grit and bear it when someone aggravates his overprotective tendencies. Normally this is when he either realizes he's overreacting to something very simple or when he's unsure if the person really could cause harm - either emotional or otherwise. Generally under these circumstances it is fairly obvious that something isn't quite right with him - he'll seem strained and on edge.
But the second he's certain that someone is no good, all his charm is completely dropped. Family and friends come before being seen as charming to him, and he won't hesitate to warn someone away from those he cares about. It can actually be rather startling to see him go from the charming flirt everyone knows into overprotective big brother mode. He'll do virtually anything within his power (and within reason) to keep someone he perceives as dangerous safely away from his circle.
What does he do if/when someone reacts badly to his charm, or finds him irritating?
More often than not, he tends to shrug it off. If they don't find him charming, that's certainly not his fault. And if they find him irritating it's their loss! But sometimes there is a certain brand of someone who finds him irritating that he can't seem to let drop. He's a huge sucker for witty banter, and he loves the people who can manage to turn his playful pick up lines back on him. After all, it's the hard to get ones that are generally the most fun to be around.
Badai obviously excels in school when he applies himself, but how does his intelligence benefit him in everyday life outside of it?
As mentioned in the description, Badai doesn't openly advertise his intelligence, so it generally doesn't come into play during his everyday life. Unless someone is about to die unless they know the exact date Neil Armstrong landed on the moon it probably won't come into play much either, although his intelligence does give him a minor advantage when it comes to anything involving math. He's already balanced his father's checkbook more than a couple times, and always seems to be able to calculate exactly how much money he needs to carry for any given outing. It's likely it will come into play more whenever he gets into the work force, as he'll need to master certain skill sets for his job and learn how to do said job. But until then, he's content to play down just how smart he is.
Badai seems to have a logical/procedural intelligence- does this perhaps make him a 'go to' person for people who might tend towards being scatterbrained or absent-minded?
Definitely. Badai is the go to person in the household for all homework related issues, and it isn't uncommon for him to help Chiku with her homework on nights when she can't seem to focus. His father has his moments as well, and there are times when Badai will help him with the odd job here and there – balancing checkbooks, going through bill records to make sure he didn't overlook anything, and other small jobs that help the household run a bit more smoothly all-in-all.
His memory is obviously excellent- does this help in organization at all?
It helps quite a bit! Badai is definitely well organized, and you'll rarely find him forgetting where he left his keys or when an assignment is due. Of course, his skills in organizing can only do so much for him. As with everything else, Badai can grow easily bored with organizing things, and often has half-organized piles stacked in his room. That isn't to say he doesn't know where everything is, he just can't be assed to put it all together neatly.
Sometimes, the most shocking displays of intolerance can come from the 'misfit' communities Badai is an ally of. What might he do in these kinds of situations?
These kinds of situations are ones that are extremely hard on Badai – while he's by no means a peacemaker; any kind of intolerance is a major hot button for him. More often than not, he's more than willing to kindly remind the person or persons who are being intolerant that they are dishing out something they have had trouble with receiving in the past. Provided they realize their mistake, that's often as far as he goes.
The more difficult situation is those who are unrelentingly intolerant and don't seem to care about it. Badai tries his best to avoid people like this, but when it comes down to it if he finds himself in a situation where they are displaying open acts of intolerance in front of him, he'll react the same as he would with anyone else. Equality goes both ways, and he's more than willing to give them a good tongue lashing in regards to this fact. If they want any respect from him, they'll either have to practice what they preach or kindly shut the hell up.
Personally he'd prefer the former, but he's very willing to accept the latter.
How does Badai's tendency towards boredom influence him outside of school?
Outside of school, this actually has a great impact on Badai’s life. He's the type of guy who, as a kid, often pestered his parents for that shiny new toy and played with it for all of ten minutes before he was already bored. And while those incidents aren't as common now that he's older, he does get bored of repetitive games and activities rather quickly if they don't catch his interest early on.
Does he get bored with people as easily as he gets bored with activities? Has he ever lost friends or strained friendships with this?
People are generally mostly immune from this, but those with a rigid routine are ones that Badai will often grow tired of rather quickly. The friends he makes are ones that generally either go with the flow or that can be massively unpredictable or challenge his wit in some way. There are of course, some people who aren't able to put up with people who can't keep their focus on one thing for extended periods, so I'd hardly say it's a stretch to say that Badai has lost a few friends or strained a few friendships because of it. But he doesn't let that bother him.
Do people see him as flaky and unreliable at all?
His predisposition towards boredom generally reads less as flaky and unreliable and more as simply uninterested in certain things to others. He's perfectly capable of focusing on things that catch his interest, and it's easy to see just by the way he dedicates himself to things like cooking and Capoeira. But just as there are people who can't tolerate him, there will always be someone who thinks this trait could make him flaky or unreliable.
How do Badai's friends view his overprotective nature? Strong-willed people might be less inclined to accept it, so does that cause any issues? Do people sometimes see this as smothering or even insulting to their self-sufficiency?
For the most part, Badai's closest friends regard his overproectiveness with a sense of humor. It's often a source of playful jokes among their group, amongst other things. Most of his friends don't take his protective streak too seriously, although it has been a source of tension between him and some of his more assertive friends in the past.
Normally these tensions can be smoothed over through a quick talk with Badai during which he will assure the worried party that he does not think them unable to take care of themselves. But there are times, unfortunately, where Badai's reassurances fall upon deaf ears. It has caused him to fall out with friends in the past – ones who did see his overprotectiveness as smothering or a sign that he did not believe in their self-sufficiency.
Does his overprotective nature cause him to meddle where he's very much not wanted? If someone lashes out at him because of it, how does he handle it?
Most definitely. Badai is a known meddler, and anyone close to him can attest to this fact. No one in his circle is surprised to hear if he's approached a new acquaintance of theirs with the intent of questioning them, and they're even less surprised to find out he's warned off someone who's been giving them trouble. If he doesn't approve of someone or a situation they're getting into, they'll know about it very quickly.
Unsurprisingly, he's been told quite a few times that it would be better for him to mind his own business, but he has a hard time doing so. Most times when he's lashed out at he'll take a moment to step back and assess the exact situation. Was his interference really necessary, and would it hurt his loved one if he stepped back from getting involved?
His exact reaction will likely depend on the specific situation. If he really did step out of line, he'll often apologize once he realizes it and promise to at least try to stay out of the situation from now on. But if he truly believes his friend could be in danger and that his meddling was necessary to protect them, he'll dig his heels in and tell them flat out. And if they insist on furthering the situation, he isn't afraid to go over their heads if he deems it in their best interests. No matter if it's bullying going out of hand or a friend's risky behavior, he isn't content to stand by idly when he believes there's something he can do about it.
Has Badai ever faced any legal action resulting from his overprotectiveness?
Badai has been lucky enough never to face any legal action for his more intense overprotective moments. More often than not, most of the issues that arose from said moments were easily settled between rational discussions amongst legal adults and it was agreed that teenagers would be teenagers. Although following said events, Badai would always find himself under a strict grounding, and depending on just what he did his mother would often make him do some kind of community service in addition to that.
Why was this name chosen?: The name was the first obstacle to overcome for Badai's Knight form - I wanted to go with a gemstone that had associations that suited him. After browsing through a slew of both common and obscure gems and their meanings, I finally glanced over the page for Topaz, only to discover it was associated with confidence, charisma, and love. It was perfect for a charming flirt like Badai!
Why was this ability chosen?: The ability was easily the hardest part. I knew from the start that I wanted an actual magical ability for Topaz and not a talent, but with the actual stone having so many associations there were plenty of ways I could have gone with his actual ability. Did I want him to be able to quiet wild emotions? Banish bad dreams? Protect his allies against negative magic? There were so many options to choose from, but in the end I decided to go with a power revolving around what had been one of my main reasons for choosing Topaz in the first place - love. I took great care to craft a power involving love that would not be seen as overpowered or having the potential to be used for godmodding. I made sure to specify what Topaz could and couldn't do with his ability, and to word it in a way that other player's could freely use to help further their own plots if necessary. I like to think I did fairly well at it.
How does Topaz's ability help him in battle? Keeping in mind the volatile nature of emotion, might this ability be a double-edged sword, helping to nurture some relationships (and thus alliances/teams) while possibly breaking others (and thus sowing discord)?
Topaz's ability isn't quite suited to battle, which means he relies heavily on his weapon and his own natural abilities. In some situations this could be a hindrance, and may even be a handicap he needs to overcome at some point. But it certainly leaves room for plotting!
And Topaz's ability could certainly be a double-edged sword! While wonderful, love is a very fickle thing. It can both bring people together and tear them apart. I imagine his ability would be especially volatile in his early days as a Knight, when he's still learning how to control his aura. (Namely how strong or weak its effects would be on those around him.)
Why was this weapon chosen?: From the start, I knew I wanted Topaz to wield some kind of bladed weapon. I didn't want to go with a sword, as it was a bit cliché for someone called a Knight to wield one and there was already a Knight in existence who used one. I decided having Topaz use a short-range weapon probably wouldn't work out too well, as he would be more inclined to use martial arts for close combat than he would a weapon. So that left me with primarily polearms. In the end I settled for a Glaive, which seemed like the best choice given what I wanted for him.
