I have yet to run this idea by Candii.. but he can reply when he sees this.. Candii Approves!

I've been thinking about ways I could contribute more to the game and continue my quest to grow as an artist as well.. And noticed that the stage images can be awfully limiting when it comes to gaia.
Maybe I could draw some up? I like to do scenery sometimes, its a nice break from avi art and I can still keep true to gaia. (were would you find a suitable image to use of the streets of Dref 'Dur, for example)

In a twist, they are awfully stagnant and I toy with some minor animation. would you like to see something going on in the background if its at all possible? ie* minor things like grass blowing in the wind, something flying across the sky, ect.. nothing major..

Pros:
- added verity
- I can customize them to fit specific environment functions (pits & platforms) when/if Candii can implement them..
- I can keep true to gaia, adding new aspects or twists to all our favorite places.. as well as invent new ones and those that have only ever been seen in the manga.
- It would give me something to do between filling rosters.

Cons:
- were-as I can do several pieces of character art each release, these would generally take more time. Possibly limited to one stage per release.
- Any kind of animation isn't a given.. I don't know what format Candii would need, and a large .giff will likely lag the game.
- Background might not look like it fits.. (not being pixelated) We can try one and see what you guys think or I can find some kind of filter.

Now that the largest and major buildings are out of the way, time for a few smaller ones I can re-use to give it that cluttered look~

Thank you so much Tarot!

I'd be totally fine with you making backgrounds!

I can do a lot of things with the stage editor but since this isn't a beat-em-up, and the characters aren't set up as a beat-em-up I can't have platforms

I can make animations with stages and also have background scenery.

Examples of this can be found in the Double Rainbow and Empty World stage with the clouds and shadows.

The stage editor is a lot more flexible, and I can also add timed events or random events or events that only happen once.

The stage editor supports movement which means you can have a long infinitely moving stages such as a train.

I saw the empty stage, but haven't come across the double rainbow one yet.
Events sound awesome! Maybe that clock tower will come crashing down. wink

I just need to know what formats you need them to be.

I just need to know what formats you need them to be.

All I need is all the pieces to be separate and then you would put them on a green background, set them to indexed color with 256 colors or less.

Then save it as a BMP.

That's what all images are imported as.

Is the stage editor built in to Fighter maker, or a separate tool all in itself?
Would it be possible to give me a download link for it, or do you have to purchase it?

It's a part of fighter maker.

It's just that the stage editor is more lenient compared to the character editor.

Ah.. Then again, the same questions apply, being free or not and whether you can supply a link.
And also if it would be possible for me to simply do a single level, animated and everything.. and only send you that file (or all files pertaining to it).
I just don't want to give you more work to do than you have to. >.>
*I'm adoring the fact that you get notices from guild activity now! XD

If I can save the final animations as JPGs frame by frame, would that be ok?

Jpgs would actually make the pictures lose quality.

What would be better is to save it as PNG.

I'll have to see if my animation program will allow it when I get to that part.. but I think it only exports frame by frame scenes as Jpgs.

Hmm okay then.

Once you send me the JPGs I'll save them as PNGs then as BMPs.

I don't really know if there's any stage I'd want to see that isn't already there, so I guess, surprise me? xd
