Name: Owen Age: 23 Race: Human, with dormant mage blood. Apperance: Bio: Owen was a childhood friend of Marina's, but they drifted apart as she joined the order of templars that guarded the kingdom from evil magics. However as he turned 15 something weird happened. One night he was about to get robbed but he somehow managed to conjure up a fire that scorched his attacker. SInce then he was branded an enemy and traitor to his people. After being ran from his home he was taken in by a band of wandering mages disguised as a circus troop. There he mastered the arcane arts, and with his mageblood, the learning was easier than most practitioners. He also became adept with acrobatics. From there he left the troop at age 20 in hopes to carve out a normal life, but little does he know that his past is going to come back for him in a large way.

Marina jumped down from the main staircase of the palace, she had some down time..which was a first in a while. Ray, who was the captain of her squad, was having a meeting with the king and queen, so he ordered the rest of them to follow her orders. She ordered the others to take a break for the next hour, then meet up at the main gates. Deciding she had enough time to hurry down the market, she rushed down the pathway in her guard attire. A black breast plate, which fit snugly on all the women guards, accentuating her curves. Her raven hair was pulled back into a braid down her back. She wore long black pants, and leather knee high boots, the pant legs tucked into the boots. The armor plate was decorated in blue and purple, with silver alone the edges. Her arms were visible, and she hand white gloves on her hands. A sword sheathed on her right side, indicating she was left handed.
"Naa~"
Marina looked up hearing the small cry, "Rayn!" A small white dragon flew onto her shoulder, nudging her cheek. "Hey little guy~" She chimed happily, the little creature settled on her shoulder as she entered the busy marketplace. People going about in the usual way, buy goods and supplies. Marina walked over to the fruit stand, buying a few apples and peaches.
"Good day Miss Marina..." Said the food tender.
"Good day to you, business good?" She said paying for the bag.
"Decent...if the taxes keep going we might have some problems."
Marina took hold of the bad, "I'll make sure to come by more then, so you'll have more customers..." She smiled, the man laughed and waved to her as she walked off. As she walked down the street, she noticed a little boy looking around at the food in raggity clothes, she walked over to him, but he stepped back. Stopping, she reached into her bag and pulled out two apples, reaching her hand out to him, "Go on take it...for you and her." She murmured softly, nudging her head to the little girl in the shadows.
He looked at her wide eyed and took the apples, handing one to the little girl, them smiling.
Marina waved, then walked off, "Wish we could do something more though. Right Rayn?" She sighed, climbing to a wall staring down at the market place, the ocean visible from afar. Rayn made a clicking sound, Marina nodded cutting a piece of peach, giving it to him. "Happy now?" She laughed, then took a bite herself, staring off...
"Dad should be getting off work now." Marina watching some little kids playing on the stairs, it reminded her of her an Owen...
Owen...he hadn't come up in her memories for a while... "Owen..." She murmured...

A large boar docked at the pier district in the town. Waves of people flooded off the vessel and among them was Owen. As he looked up he recognized the banner of the kingdom. In almost a flash all of those memories flooded back to him; being chased away from his home, being disowned by his adoptive family, but among the torrent of nightmarish memories one good one shined through. "...Marina..." Owen said to hiself in contemplation before pulling his hood up over his head. The hooded cloak helped hide some of the markings on his skin that was a tell tale sign of a magic user, allowing him to travel among the public. As he wandered the street he noticed someone high up atop a building. She looked vaguely familiar, but he was not sure that it was because she was part of the order who hunted his kind or if she was someone he knew... but he dared not approach to find out. Little did Owen know that he knew her better than he imagined. Owen made his way along the streets. After walking for some time he bumped into someone in the city, able to tell it was a guard of sorts from the clank of the metal. As he looked from bottom to top he soon realized the face was somewhat familiar, but in the garbs of the order. "Marina?" He blurted out in question unable to stop himself to remain incognito.

Marina stared down at the people below, one character didn't seem to fit into the crowd though, but he quickly disappeared. The square flooded with people...it was about time when ships anchored at the docks bringing visitors and travelers. She took another bite from her peach, cutting another slice for Rayn. The little dragon took a large bite of the peach, when it saw the hooded figure come up from behind, it growled slightly at the male.
Marina turned around slowly, her amethyst eyes looking over the hooded figure...the same one she just saw down below...but he called out her name. "Hmm?" She turned around, and stood up from the wall top. His voice sounded familiar... "How do you know my name?" She asked, Rayn climbing onto her shoulder, growling at Owen. Even though she held the position she did, Marina wasn't very tall, maybe five foot four at best. "Who are you?" The guard questioned.

Owen was cautious of how to proceed. The small dragon was certainly a new thing and it showed as the raspy, high pitch growl continued from the dragon. However it was too late to back out now... she was in fact Marina, but what side she was truly on was unclear. Yet with Marina being one of the few people in his life that he was able to trust he pulled his hood back not having any mage marks on his face. "I'm just an old friend... It's been too long Marina." Owen laughed brushing the matted down hair out of his face. But before they could celebrate Owen saw her contingent coming to meet up with Marina, causing him to quickly place his hood back up and acted simply as if he was asking her for directions. "It's probably not best to catch up in the open eye." Owen suggested. The two made their way down an alleyway to a small tavern on the poorer side of town.

Marina looked over at Rayn, "Hush Rayn, don't be rude, we don't even know him." She hissed...the dragon hushed, glaring at the male.
Marina didn't like the hood though and he seemed cautious of her... "You're the man I saw in the market...a hood isn't the get way to make friends with the others order-" But she froze as he spoke up, removing his hood...
"O-Owe-" Her eyes widened seeing the familiar face...she couldn't speak. But just as she was about to reach out and touch him, he quickly pulled on his hood, "?" Before she could say another word, he led her to a small alleyway. Before he could take her any further, she pulled her hand back... "Wh-What are you...how are you!?" She couldn't form a sentence. "Where about you been all this time!? Y-You just up an left! I-I didn't even get to tell you anything! You vanished!" She stated, frustration building up, "I thought we were friends...but you left without even saying good bye!" Pools of tears filled her eyes, she remembered that day.
She saw him the night before and she remembered telling him about how she hand a meeting with the order the next day. They were suppose to meet up in the 'usual spot' at sun down...but he never came. When she went to his house...his parents wouldn't even open the door...she hadn't seen them sense. "Y-You just left me!"

Owen hung his head as she vented her emotions on him. "I never meant to hurt you but if I stayed..." He trailed off with a sigh unable to find the right words to explain himself. "I wouldn't have been the only one with my head on the chopping block." He added trying to articulate his story. He found it easier to show her instead. "Something happened the night before I left... something I learned about myself that I can't change." He said still regretting that happened. "Erif," he spoke softly and a small flame appeared in his hand for Marina to see before clenching his fist and extinguishing the fire. "I couldn't turn to you for help because they would have killed you... they would have killed anyone that tried to hide me... so... I ran." Owen said looking back to her piercing violet gaze. "Please don't try and turn me in... I don't want anyone hurt." he pleaded sincerely.

Marina stared him down, "Hurt me...Owen...you would be the last one to ever hurt me..." She said softly.. "Something happened?" Marina froze as he spoke, seeing the warm flame appear in his palm. She instinctively stepped back, Rayn growling loudly at the sight of the flame... "M-Magic..." She whispered, her voice barely audible.
She shook her head, not Owen...not him...
"NO!" She cried...
"Not you...you can't be one of them...one of those...those monsters!" Marina couldn't believe it, the one person she trusted... "You-You expect me to...to ignore this...like it's nothing? Its against the law..." She stared at him in disbelief... "They killed him...you remember..." She whispered, grabbing the hilt of her blade. "Tell me that just didn't happen...please. Not you Owen..."

His stomach twisted in his gut as he saw her reach for her sword. "I know what they did to you're brother. But I am not that person... I'm still me. Why else would I have showed you who was under the hood?" He tried his best to show her. However his eyes stayed plastered to her left hand, it would be his worst nightmare to have the only friend he had acting as his executioner. "Magic isn't all evil, it is no different than a blade... It is up to the wielder to decipher it's purpose." He said reciting what he had been taught, Her steel stare showed otherwise. "I didn't ask for this. Your order has been hunting me for the past six years... I don't know why I expected that you would be any different..." Owen said sadly already thinking of how he could escape. "We can't change what we are... but I refuse to let it define who I am." he added posturing to get ready to run by stepping a foot back

Marina shook her head, "Still you?! Owen, y-you're not the same. You're a magic user...I'm in the order..." She couldn't pushed herself to unsheath her blade though. "Magic is evil...its uncontrollable...I would know. I've seen people killed by reckless users, by cold blooded killers. If they're smart they don't do magic." Her stare became cold...
"We hunt, because that's what we're trained to do. I-I'm not different...but." She let go of her blade... "I can't fight you..." Tears began welling up in her eyes.
"Not you Owen..." The dragon looked back at Marina wide eyed. "I've seen one important person die before me in my life. I-I won't see another and definitely not by my hand."

"Oh, thank the gods." Owen said with a sigh of relief as he hand dropped from the sword and heard her words. The relief was bittersweet though, he hated to see her in tears... and worse it was partially because of him. He wondered if it would have been better if she just thought he was dead. "I thank you for not drawing your sword... I'll... just leave." Owen said to Marina. He wanted to console her... like he usually did, but he got the feeling that she would just pull away if he touched any part of her. "But all I wanted was a chance to prove that I am telling the truth. The second I learned of what I was. I studied to learn the... evils, as you call them, so that I could stop them from killing... I want all the killing to stop on both sides." Owen pulled his hood up over his head and turned his back. "I just want to live freely."

Marina looked down as he spoke, "Don't thank me...we've been through a lot together...consider this repayment. But it won't happen again..." She said coldly...
"I don't want to hear that..." Marina hissed, watching him turn his back to her... "Leave this city. Don't come back." Marina ordered, but she stared at his back...
He wasn't the same boy she once knew...smiling...laughing. She turned and walked away going back to the market, the members of her squad looking for her. She couldn't stop crying though, all the males tried to comfort her. But they weren't Owen, he was only person to always make her smile...but now... As soon at the head of the guard saw her falling to pieces, he ordered her off duty... Marina went home and changed from her uniform into pants and a black shirt, she walked through the city, mentally drained. "Owen..." She stopped at the entrance to a small ally way, leaning up against it, covering her mouth, shaking her head. She'd never felt so...so...she didn't know. But she kept moving, feeling the sea breeze- the sun beginning to set. She finally came to the edge of the city where it met the sea, removing her shoes without a second thought she let them behind, stepping on the cool sand, walking along the shore.
Owen was a magic user...he was a traitor...he was he best friend...
Rayn hadn't moved though, even though marina couldn't sense it, he could feel the sincerity in his voice...in his body movement. "Naa~" Rayn calling softly.

Marina's cold ending to the conversation was unlike her. He may have walked around the corner but he was not about to leave just yet. He had to get her to understand, but he just didn't know how. This time it was Owen keeping a rooftop observation of Marina. She looked really beaten up by the news. He stayed low as he traversed the rooftops, avoiding detection by the others. His magic was not evil. He had helped many on his travels. Saving farms by conjuring rain, protecting innocents. But just like now he was always told to never return. As she went towards the beach there no longer was any buildings to follow on. He stood at the edge of a pole that held a banner. As he watched her Owen noticed someone approaching towards Marina. He recognized the coloration of the cloak. It was the Dark Brotherhood. But what were they doing here? As he drew closer to Marina he pulled out a kris dagger. His eyes widened before he stepped into action. "Tropelet" and in a flash he transported himself to the edge of the beach. "Marina! Look Out!" he shouted but she wouldn't turn in time. He had a choice, expose himself or lose his childhood friend. "Esacne" he shouted as he show a glowing blue ball of magic that froze the assassin in his tracks. Owen had to hold his focus to keep the man in place.
