Just a topic about different planes you'd want to reboot.

Personally, I want to see a reboot of Ravnica. It was my favorite set made so far, and I greatly, greatly enjoy it. I'd also like abilities like Transmute and Convoke back into Standard. They were amazing.

Another would be Lorwyn/Shadowmoor. It was a completely fantastical setting, and I loved it to death. It just had so much flavor that I don't think other sets have.

Ravnica was, by several admittedly unscientific measures, about the most accross the board successful setting and block wizards has ever made.

I wouldn't be surprised if we do go back there at some point.

I might actually like to go back to Kamigawa. That block had some seriously cool flavor and some of the mechanics were great but undersupported.

I'd really like to see some more spiritcraft support.

Honestly, though, I might prefer something new. Innistrad has been excellent so far and there is plenty of design space out there.

Well in the "official" MTG Storyline, Tezzeret is currently in Ravnica, doing something. I have no doubt that Ravnica will eventually come back.

idk about Kamigawa. It was interesting, but I hated the emphasis put on legendary creatures. I loved the Soulshifting mechanic, but other than that, I didn't particularly like it. (Bushido was also a bit interesting...)

Kamigawa has shown up in a few recent novels. In Agents of Artifice, it was revealed that there's an Infinite Consortium cell there, and Jace and Tezzeret both went there frequently. So we'll probably see more of it soon.

I don't get all the hate towards Kamigawa mechanics. The amount of legendary creatures hardly mattered when you were playing limited, and in constructed it allowed them to push the power limits of creatures. Soulshift was a little underpowered, and Splice and Bushido were overcosted, but I'm sure they'd be done well if they had a design team that wasn't terrified of another Mirrodin disaster.

In a vacuum, Kamigawa was great. Great flavor, great setting, interesting designs. But it has the misfortune of coming after Mirrodin, one of the most overpowered blocks ever, and coming before Ravnica, which had a design team that didn't have to walk on eggshells.

So yeah, seeing Kamigawa again would be nice, and I've been dying for some more references to Ulgrotha. But as long as they get away from Innistrad, I don't really care where they go next.

Actually, what I would really really love to see is a mash up of Kamigawa and either Ravnica, Shadowmoor, or Alara (the plane Invasion took place on would work too).

Legendary themed plane + multicolor themed plane = multicolored legendaries = new generals!

the plane Invasion took place on
uh, Dominaria?
Anyway we're for sure seeing more Commander decks at some point in the future, so there's your more multicolor generals. Too bad they gave almost no context for any of the characters sad I think the most we know about any of them is that the Mimeoplasm comes from Muraganda.

Umm... I don't think Dominaria is possible. It was supposedly pretty much destroyed in The Mending, among MANY other things that happened.

Though it would be really cool to see some planes like... converging or something. Kind of like what happened when the Shards of Alara got pushed back together. That would be incredibly bad-a**.
Although to be honest, I didn't particularly like Alara. Not that it was bad, it was just... not my style of play. It didn't speak to me like Ravnica and Shadowmoor did.

Dominaria is actually doing okay. You might say it's... emotion_dealwithit on the mend.

Anyway if the Scars comics are to be trusted, it's doing a lot better now that it's been about a hundred years since the Mending. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up back there in a year or two.

See Armored Cancrix for a specific reference to Dominaria in its current state.

Good to know lol.
I still would prefer Ravnica over anything else. It was my favorite set ever. Although the Time Spiral block was fun due to all the new things.

Slightly off-topic:
I'd really like to see Viashino tribal abilities.

I cannot have enough good multicolored Legends.

You're right about the lack of storyline context for the Commander product, though I kinda liked the blurbs outlining the various Commanders backstory.

I wonder if a Commander storyline novel would have enough fan appeal to be worth supporting.

When I read this all I could think about was Hexadecimal.

No offense, but what?

When I read Reboot nostalgia I remembered a cartoon I used to watch when I was younger, called Reboot. It was about these sprites and their lives in a computer, and the antagonists were viruses. One of them was called Hexadecimal, that's all. No offense taken.

I would also totally spend money on seeing The Mimeoplasm fighting Kaalia of the Vast. Sounds awesome.
