Alright, so I figured I should try and start an RP at some point and see if it goes better in here than it does out there in Barton. Though I'm not quite sure how'd I go about accepting people and all that stuff. For this, I have three ideas that I have been bouncing around for a bit and I would like opinions on what you all think is the best one. None of them have names yet, so there current titles are pretty basic descriptions.
Idea One: Time Travel Gone Wrong Description: In the future, the world is ending, and in a last ditch attempt to save themselves, the last time disk is activated. With this time disk, the government of the future sends an elite team of time agents back to the early 21st century, where they will need to stop the unknown Event, the very thing which began the domino effect of their demise. But when the time disk malfunctions, the team ends up separated with no idea where they are, and no idea what this event is, nor how to stop it. With time running out, they must find each other, find their time disk, and change the future. The past doesn't like to be changed, however, and will do everything in it's power to stop this team. Especially with whispers of the recent TK phenomenon... Genres: Science Fiction, Action, Superhuman (sorta). Characters: 3-5 from the future, 2-3 from the past. This is at most. Other: Heavily influenced by Stephen King works, such as 11/22/63, Carrie, and Firestarter. Would prefer to use CG or real images for this one.
Idea Two: Rogue Secret Agents Description: When a secret agent is dismissed for an old injury, she doesn't take it well, and with much work, she goes under the radar and creates a new team, one which will follow it's own rules. Several people, not agents, but experts in their own area, are brought together with the idea that they can make a difference where no one else can. As they go through the missions, something is noticed - is another team at work here? One on the other side? And if so, who are they, and what do they want with these wannabe agents? Nothing is certain, not even if they can trust their fellow team members. Genres: Modern, Adventure, Action. Characters: 4-6 agents. Each would have a specific role to play. Other: Heavily inspired by Leverage, Mission Impossible, and other such things. Would prefer to use real pictures for this one.
Idea Three: Robot Mutant Apocalypse Description: The world has ended and has been reborn. Superhumans walk in secret, thought to be dead but have survived. Robots patrol the streets as law enforcement, and the Council rules with an iron fist. Microchips are implanted in those over 18 to ensure obedience, and children are thought to be nothing but pests. But one engineer has broken free of this hold, and has been gathering a rebellion, one which includes her daughter. With the help of these children, these superpowered children, she hopes to discover how to stop the microchips, and maybe, just maybe, they could take down the council. But they must be careful, for the price of rebellion is not death. It's something much, much worse. Genres: Science-Fiction, Superhuman, Dystopia. Characters: The engineer, the daughter, and a handful of children. - All but the engineer are under 18. Other: This is extremely backstory intensive, and it's required to even begin to understand what's going on. I thought it would be interesting to make a roleplay with kids, showing the effects war can have on them. Would prefer to use anime for this one.
So, what do you all think? Leave a vote and drop a comment if you please!

Right away I was drawn to idea number one... I guess I really like the concept of the present having significant effects on the future -- I think it would be also interesting if the event they were brought back to stop wasn't something huge, but small... You know, just to make things more interesting. ;P
I like idea 3 too. I can see the potential -- especially with a really good back story to explain the current situation.

I myself am a fan of number one, though the event isn't quite as small as I think you were hoping for. Idea three is definitely cool as well, and the one I have put the most thought into. biggrin

I really like the idea of the first one. I've never done a "modern" RP or even a Scifi one (though I love the genre) because they're always too much of each. I think combining the two is a nice even ground for me so it's something I'd be interested in, for sure. smile

Well, if you have a plan, certainly stick to it! -- I just like throwing ideas out there. Anyway, is there any chance you could do both idea 1 and 3? Or would that be too much...

I'll probably do all of them at some point or another. Just gathering input at the moment. Sounds fantastic, I was hoping to gain some interest. Thanks for the input!

For me, number 3 sounds interesting and would be willing to give it a try. The back story emphasis is nice because it will give the character more depth and we can understand him/her more ourselves allowing our character to react more appropriately and hopefully realistically.

Cool. First comment for a full interest in Number 3! Thank you for the feedback. Yeah, the backstory is something I go into great detail with in all my roleplays, but 3 definitely has the most I've ever worked with. It's more complicated than anything else I've ever written, outside of my novels. I'm hoping I can do the idea justice. biggrin

Actually I liked three too. So much so that I popped a little experimental rp out there to see the idea. All of you are free to join and check it out. Feel free to critique me as well. I don't like criticism but, if I want to be a better more confident topic maker, I need it. Here is the link to the rp. Its pretty self explanatory. Not a huge amount of detail. Let the mind play a little, nawutimean? RPWhoops I mean this one is it. The Real RP

Would you really like a crit though? Because I tend to give long ones.

Reonrei I can take it. Post it right here and gut me open like a fish. Let everybody see. Well that's not really fair. This is my thread for asking what people think of my ideas, to generate interest for a potential roleplay. Not a thread for con-crit for Barton Town roleplays.

You just don't want to rip me a new one. I can respect that and partially thankful for it. When I made the thread I wasn't trying to show you up or something like that. I wanted it to work as a rough draft rp. So far it's generating some heat. I got a couple people joining. It isn't taking off like a rocket mind you. It's got me thinking of a mutant type character for yours.

If I have something to say, I will say it. I know you weren't, I never thought otherwise, and I'm glad I inspired you. A character? Cool. Looking forward to it.
