 Highschool of the Dead is set in the present day, beginning as the world is struck by a deadly pandemic that turns humans into zombies, euphemistically referred to by the main characters as "Them". The story follows a group of high school students, the high school's nurse, and a young girl as they fight their way to safety through the deadly streets of Japan during a worldwide catastrophic event known as the "Outbreak". As the cast tries to survive the zombie apocalypse, they must also face the additional threats of societal collapse, in the form of dangerous fellow survivors, and the possible decay of their own moral codes.

Posting this video is pretty much a requirement for every HSOTD thread, right?* I don't really care for this show, to be honest. The show can be summed up pretty well as 'boobs, blood, and zombies'. I enjoy crazy action shows as much as the next person, but I don't hold to the idea that zombies instantly make everything better and fanservice doesn't work if I don't like the girls or find ridiculously-sized boobs attractive. I'm also not a fan of the show combining violence and fanservice; I really don't want to see panty shots of dead students or zombies. I can understand why it's incredibly popular, but it's not my cup of tea. On the other hand, the guy in glasses is voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama. You probably know him better as the guy who voices Link. This doesn't redeem the show or anything, but it's kind of neat to hear him actually talk. xd

Where is the plot people?! gonk HE DOES?!?! -flails- He voices Hiei too in Bonds of Fire. My friend and I (who are both Link and YYH fans) geeked out big time. Gosh, I'd watch this show just to hear Link's voice.

I actually liked this anime. It was really ridiculous at times, but it was fun to watch. I liked that I could partially pay attention to it and not miss anything, since as you say there really was not much of a plot xp

I find this anime to be a little bit of a breather.
What I mean is - after watching something heavy like Elfen Lied you can watch this and just relax and glide through the episodes just letting your brain be washed away by the amount of blood, gore and panty shots in the anime. blaugh
On a side note: when I watch this it feels like the boobs are in a rave. : rofl

I think the OVA just got a US release, though. There's also the manga; that's been doing pretty well here and I'd assume that keeps going past where the anime ends.
