So, we have people, and we have a decent amount of gold that has been donated. Now I'm wondering what to do with it. I'm thinking maybe some sort of event, or events. Any ideas anyone?

I actually have a couple of ideas for events, but the prizes are what I'm wondering about. The gold that we have for this sort of thing is actually relatively negligible. I was kind of wondering if any of the artists in the guild might want to donate their time and expertise. As a long time roleplayer I know that one of the coolest things you can get, in my opinion anyways, is commissioned work of your favorite character/s. It's not a lot, but I have some gold to pay anybody that would be willing to do this.

There's always tek-tek contests but I'm sure you could do a writing contest as well. You could supply a number of words, topics or ideas and challenge people to come up with a five paragraph "RP post" using them. You could do a month long challenge and get people to write a short story.

I like the commissioned art idea. Having a cool picture of one of my characters would be shweeet!
Not down for the writing contest though. You can have one but, don't count on me participating. I like roleplay because of the picture I can draw in my minds eye and in the minds of fellow rpers. Not to mention the fantastical things that can occur therein.
Not because words, grammar, and punctuation make me hot.

Actually a writing contest was one of my ideas. And it would be based as much on imagination and ingenuity as it would on grammar. I really think this whole idea of having contests and events hinges on us finding someone to donate art as the prize, though. I really can't think of anything better.
