It was a quiet night at Cupcakes and Chaos. Most of the Adventure Fleet had accompanied Admiral Adamska Glazunov to the north for the holidays. As its smaller than usual number of occupants turned in for the night a visitor graced the Outerverse with her presence for the first time since her short visit so long ago. Adjusting her hat and giving the front door of the shop a tap or two with her staff she waited for someone to answer.

Under normal circumstances the front of the shop would have been empty by now, or as normal as they were these days. A few years ago the door would have been wide open with music blasting from upstairs beckoning to all those who passed by to come in…. He supposed the war and his own mental state had put a damper on that though.
Luckily for their new visitor, Naio was working a little late in the filing room that night trying to put some order in a cabinet that had toppled over. “Mmm?” The knock echoed eerily in the emptiness of the front, sending a bit of a shiver down his spine and causing him to chuckle. Out of everything that’s happened the thing that crept him out…was a knock? Shaking his head he put down the pile of papers he had been cradling under his arm and made his way to the door, opening it with a friendly smile. “Good evening. Sorry to tell you this, but we’re closed. Even so, you might want to wait a bit before placing an order. The Artist has been a bit indisposed of late.”

"I'm well aware of Miss Kami's pregnancy if that's what you are referring to Master Naiomesis," the woman said with a smile. The fox at her feet swished it's tail and looked up at Naio with wary eyes as though it did not trust him.
"I have no need of an order either. I'm here on more personal matters. It took me a while to track you down, I'm sorry that I didn't get here until late."

He stiffened, fully expecting a sudden battle to erupt do to him having laid waste to her town...or famly...or both. Being given a pardon or not after the war wouldn't matter to someone who had survived through him. "Have you now...and what exactly is it you've been tracking me down for?"

Her soft green eyes studied his face before she answered. Perhaps she hadn't waited long enough to approach him, but it was too late now.
"We need to talk about your wife," she spoke, choosing her words carefully, "and things that have not yet come to pass."

"...." Naio took a step to the side and pushed the door all the way open, allowing her entry to the shop. "Might as well come in, I have a feeling this is going to be one of those long talks. Nothing involving either of us is ever short." He was above all, curious as to what she had to say. Though he was sure his looming self gave it away that he didn't really trust her.

The woman observed the room with great interest, momentarily forgetting her purpose here. This was where Illyana was finally going to find a family. She was so happy for her.
"Shall I commence with the usual tedious pleasantries, sir, or would you prefer it if I got to the point up front?" she finally asked Naio.

The Phoenix Alu-fiend closed the door behind her with yet another chuckle. "There's an option? Thank god. If you wouldn't mind I'll just take your name and be done with that as a pleasantry, getting right to it sounds wonderful."

"I have several names, for now you may simply refer to me as the Soul Warden," she spoke, wandering around the room, looking at the art on the walls, "The only reason you wife is alive is because of Nocturne, a fact I am sure you know. Has it ever occurred to you what happens when the world is finally rid of the old skull and bones?"

"I have, but seeing as he's damn near never ending as much as all of us would love to see him go, its kind of dulled its self in urgency. Uruz told me about the whole attachment thing the moment we started dating...since then I've kind of stopped helping in the search for his ending." Naio sighed and began to unconsciously pace, "Bitter-sweet situations seem to like my company the best. Why do you ask?

"Nocturne will fall within few decades, of that I am certain. He will be removed from his seat of unholy power and Uruz will accompany him."
The Soul Warden observed his meanderings with wariness, fearful of this drow mix before her. "I tell you the truth, Naio. I swear it. And I'm here to help you."

His foot stopped mid-step, hovering above the ground. "...Then you'd better start talking solutions. Don't mean for that to sound like a threat but-" A bit of smoke began to seep out of his nose and corners of his mouth as he spoke, his core temperature quickly rising. "I need some good news right now."

"I will do everything in my power to return her to you, Naio, on two conditions. The first is this: Understand that her resurrection may not be immediate. The creator of this world gave no actual souls to its creatures, only a spiritual energy that, for lack of a better term, explodes in every direction from the body once a person dies.
I could give her new energy, like Nocturne does, but then you'll have the same problem all over again if I die. Give me time to either understand this universe or change it for the better. A little time is worth her life is it not?"

"It is...but I think I may have just thought of something that maybe you haven't considered. Among other things: One " He held a finger up, "What would possess you to want to help her? And two: Magic isn't unheard of in this verse from what I know, I've seen a lot of seals but magic its self is rare to my eyes. Do you think maybe its possible to stop the energy from scattering by having her wear something...a necklace or a ring, bracelet even, that would absorb it? Enchanting, I think its called. Have it locked onto her energy so it will activate and keep it all in that one place." his feet picked up pacing once more as his thoughts deepened, "Or would that just in a backwards way attach her to an object even if we bring her back? Would that make an unintentional phylactery?"
