Cool stuff. Some of it is pretty overpowered, but fun. A few cards need to have their cost upped by 4 before they're fair.
One thing I'm worried about is that Aiden Brend's second ability doesn't really work. The game can't keep track of things that are returned to your hand (a hidden zone) so you can't really give it abilities. What would work is exiling the card and giving it those abilities, then returning it to your hand at EOT. Something like:
Exile target instant or sorcery card in your graveyard. Until end of turn, you may cast it as though it had flash and split second. Return it to your hand at end of turn. (Return it only if it is exiled.)

How would you change the mana costs on some of them then?
And thank you, I fixed the one with Aiden.
And if you're talking about Jesus, yes, I understand that one XD
That was the second card I ever made, the only one that I had made before it was Anonymous.

How would you change the mana costs on some of them then?

Apocalyptic Horde: A 5/4 for 5 in black is already really strong. I'd shrink it to maybe a 3/2 and up the cost to 7. Mass revival should be expensive.
Undying Horde: I'm not sure how undying plays yet, so it might be fair. But since it's all zombies you control, I might switch undying to persist.
Savra: Again, she'd be playable at that cost and size even if there was nothing in her text box. I'd shrink her to 4/4 and put her cost at 8, but even then she almost outshines Akroma.
Regretful Necromancer: Mana cost is fair, but 2 life is really cheap for a creature. Maybe 5 life, something that the player will notice.
No Escape: should be fine
Final Hour: If done right, this is a one-sided Wrath for 1 less than Wrath. Either up the cost (something like 6 should work) or lower the number of creatures destroyed by it (maybe half of the sac'd toughness)
Demonic Resurrection: This one might actually be overcosted, since most creatures won't survive an Infest.
Cloning Lab: At least require tapping.
Alduin: Shrink him, maybe to a 5/5. 7/7 for 7 in black is gigantic.
Dovahkiin: I think he'd end up dead before his ability is relevant a lot of the time. Help a brother out, give him first strike.
Two-color dragons: These seem pretty fun. Balanced attack triggers and fairly costed. Nice.

Wow. Some pretty awesome cards in here.
Offhand observations:
I think the dual lands would be better if it was "green OR red permanent" instead of "green AND red" (or whatever colors they happen to use). The core set duals use this phrasing for basic lands and they're not broken.
Elvish Rager: Daaaaaaamn. Even if he only had 2 toughness this guy is beast.
Lost Demon: 2/1 for 1 is considered fair now. Keep the drawback, drop the cost, and it should still be balanced.
Succubus: This thing makes for some interesting political plays. If it were me, I'd switch it up a bit: "At the beginning of your upkeep, target creature's controller may pay 2. If he or she doesn't, gain control of that creature." but the original wording is still good.
Great Gamble: Love it. A great representation of what black does.

Thanks.
Yeah, but Elvish Rager would still be fairly hard to get into the "Super-power" territory without you using your own burn spells on him.
The set that I'm still making is focused around the plight of the W/G humans and the G/R Elves, while the U/B zombies, W/B Angels, and the mono-B demons are warring with each other.
Although I'll probably make humans W/R instead... not entirely sure. I haven't spent much time on them.
I put the "Green And Red" there on purpose. I wanted it like that.

Succubus: I worded it that way on purpose too. I wrote it so it would be good politically in a multi-player game, because who's creature am I gonna take in the first place? You can go ahead and not pay your 2, because I may not take yours. But there's always the chance that I will. It's not really for the taking control, it's almost 100% for the politics. I wanted the creature selection after no one could stop it.

Updated Skyrim: I realized I was missing a color combination for one of the dragons. Got him down, Maarfinlein smile

Last Update of today: Added Humans and Ally type! Now you know what the hell the zombies, demons, and angels were doing in the first place.

Interesting Dreams: i'm guessing this is an instant?
Zombie Apocalypse: i hate it when wizards makes cards with the same name as something i designed neutral

Update: Added a poll. About half done with the original set. Made about 30 or so cards today, will update tomorrow. Thank you smile

I'm having trouble thinking of instants, enchantments, or sorceries that will fit into the set. Any help?
In essence, Aiden's cards deal mostly with recursion, Savra's deal with white and black control, demon cards are meant to be chaotic, and the allies are tribal. Thank you smile

Finished update. Total of almost 100 cards now, in the main set. Planning on adding about 50-70% more.

Lots of this stuff looks really cool. I see some minor wording issues but I don't know if you care about that aspect much or not so I'll leave those out.

I notice you have quite a few cards which do something to a specific creature type. I find those sorts of cards a bit underwhelming most of the time. I mean, I've played Rend Flesh but I wouldn't play Rend Spirit pretty much ever.

One thing I might do if you want to make tribal hosers is give them a lesser effect that hits any creature and a greater effect that just hits the specific tribe.

For instance the angel hoser could read "All creatures get -2/-2. Destroy all Angels."

Or for a looser take: "Destroy all creatures. Each Angel destroyed this way deals damage equal to its power to its controller."

That would actually be a more cost appropriate effect for 5 cmc. A tribal hoser that does nothing else tends to be cheaper. You could go "Destroy all nondemon creatures, etc" but that would be 6 or 7 CMC probably.

I like Final Hour but it feels like an instant to me. The picture seems like something that happens suddenly and that the sacrificed creature is reacting to. Being an instant would also give it significantly more utility.

Cloning Lab is cool but I wonder if, with a few tweaks, you couldn't lose the tap cost.

I might have it put a "clone counter" (or some cooler name than that) on the creatures it clones and you can only clone a creature without a counter. That would check its power somewhat but give you more incentive to clone several small creatures in a turn rather than just one of the most expensive you can afford.

I really like Unexpected Alliances and want to play it in EDH.

The last thing (for now), is that I noticed you are revisiting the ally type.

The Zen block allies were supposed to be D&D adventurers in MTG form and they had some pretty specific guidelines about what types of abilities corresponded with what creature types to mimic the different roles character classes in D&D fill.

Your allies seem to be doing something different entirely.

There's nothing technically wrong with that, I just wanted to mention it.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 01, 2012 6:38 pm

I'm using "Allies" in an entirely new set. It's less of MTG's Zen block Allies (As you've noticed) And more just a way to make them be tribal easier.
Do you understand now? smile

I actually made the idea of Unexpected Alliances specifically for EDH.

Clone Counters sound really cool, I might do that smile

I thought about making Final Hour an instant, but it might be a little too powerful for that... I haven't play-tested any of these so I'm not entirely sure.

I can see what you mean with the "Specific Creature Type" thing though. I have no doubt I'll edit it in similar ways.

Couple of random power level notes:

Flamebraid Shaman is really strong. Compare its ability to Kumano, Master Yamabushi or Shivan Dragon. 2 damage for RR would still be strong. 3 is too much, I think.

Daemonium's ability is a little underpowered for an 8 cost 6/6 legendary that has to connect to activate it. Esp since his only evasion is Trample.

I'd probably make it hand or graveyard. You could maybe even make it hand, graveyard, or Library but that might be pushing it a little.
