Getting Lucky
A blond hair teen smiled, entering the apartment that he just rented and was finally able to move into. He left his family awhile to go to the joint ninja academy and just graduated to chuunin. The young ambiguous boy was staying on of the new dorms the academy had made until he found a permanent place to stay. He would travel back and forth to see his family who lived in a small village in Water Country, but he was happy with his new found freedom and not having to work with the family making and selling ink.
The boy sat down of the couch and turned on the TV, flipping through the channels.
“Why isn’t there anything good on?” He sighed, turning out off and went off into a daze, dreaming about the blue wavy haired girl whose name was Sachiko and Ren’s newest teammate. Ren developed a crush on her awhile back, but she was so cold and rude to him, wasn’t really able to make friends with her, much less tell her.
“I think she hates me” Ren said to himself.
Despite all this, Ren had an even bigger secret than his crush on the wild blue hair girl. Ren was born as a biological female. Ren always had a hard time making friends, though he did his best and never gave up. He was always teased. Most just assumed Ren was just a very effeminate boy. Part of him was happy to know that he was able to pass well enough as a boy but another part of him felt hurt about how they made fun of him.
“I don’t think I can tell Sachi the truth though, she would probably hate me for sure.” With that, he went to prepare for the mission he was about to go on.

It has been about three weeks since Ren became a chuunin and got to know his new teammates; his old ones left the academy shortly after becoming genin, content with not having a high rank and have to go on dangerous missions. They were on another mission when Ren and Sachiko got separated from the other member.
“Great, now I’m stuck with you.” Sachiko mumbled angry.
“It’s not my fault” Ren replied back. “Besides, it’s not so bad. Let’s just make the most of it. I am sure we’ll catch up sooner or later.” He tried to reinsure her.
It was getting dark out and the two decided to make camp for the night. Once they settled him, they sat down next to the camp fire, roasting some fish they caught earlier, so they can save some of their supplied for later.
“So” Sachiko said suddenly after a long silence. “You’re pretty different most boys.”
“R…really?” Ren said a bit nervously, not sure what Sachiko was thinking.
“Yeah, I did grow up with two brothers; both are kind of weird though. At least they were better than that bratty girl who used to live with us. I refuse to call her my sister!” Sachiko shouted angrily.
Sachiko never got along with her half-sister Kotori, and was jealous of how her brothers paid more attention to the youngest sibling though both her and her father hated Kotori, Chojuro just tried not to show while Sachiko never bother hiding her hatred toward the poor girl. Sachiko always felt inferior to her siblings, all of the others had some form of kekkei genkai or intelligent and skills, while Sachiko felt useless compared to them.
The truth was, Sachiko was a very skillful fighter. She been learning how to fight and use swords for as long as she could remember. She didn’t need to rely on a kekkei genkai or worry about having to hide that she has one.
Ren, feeling a bit awkward, not knowing what to say, got up.
“I guess we should get some sleep, tomorrow is going to be long day.”
Sachiko didn’t say anything as she went to put out the campfire and walked towards her sleep bag.
“Sachiko…” Ren said quietly.
“What?”
“Goodnight”
It’s now or never Ren thought and kissed Sachiko on the lips. Sachiko stood there frozen, too shocked to yell or slap him. After a moment, she snapped out of it.
“Guys are so stupid at times” Sachiko mumbled as she went to lie down.

Early the next morning, they both packed up and started to head towards their destination. There was an awkward silence, neither knowing what to say to one other. Most of the day Sachiko tried to avoid Ren, ignoring he was there while she was in deep in thought. Once again it was getting late, though they decided to rent a room at small hotel as they now in the town where they were supposed to complete their mission.
Not having enough money, they ended up having to share rooms. After a little walked out of the bathroom, wearing nothing but a robe and carrying a towel.
“I’m leaving to go to the hot springs” she said as she walked out of the room and down the hall. There weren’t many guest around as it was a small town, so it was the perfect to time to go down to the onsen and take a bath. Ren just laid down on one of the beds and sighed.
I think I really screwed it up this time. What do I do now?Stupid Ren! Sachiko though angrily as she slipped out of the robe and into hot spring once she enter the woman’s side.
Why did he have to go a kiss me?! That jerk.
Sachiko closed her eyes and relaxed until she hear someone else walk in, opening her eyes to see who it was.
“REN?!” She shouted as she saw the blonde haired boy wearing a rode, trying to covering up her chest in embarrassment. “This is the woman’s side of the hot springs you idiot!”
“There is something I need to tell you.” Ren began as he opened up the bathrobe, showing what he desperately tried to keep hidden.
“What. Ren, you’re a girl? Why are you dressed and parade around as a boy than?” Sachiko asked, trying to take it all in.
“I’m not parading around or anything. I’m what they call transgendered” Ren answered as he stepped. “I was born a girl but I was never happy as a girl or felt I was really meant to be a woman. I just kept it hidden as I was afraid people would hate me or think I am a freak. But I can’t keep it hidden from you any longer.”
With that, Ren walked up to Sachiko, cupping her face with his hands and kissed her once again.”
“I love you Sachiko” Ren spoke once they broke the kiss. “I had for a while now but always thought you hated me so I never had the courage to speak up. I don’t care if you like me back or not, I just had to tell you as I couldn’t hold in what I feel any longer.”
“Shut it” Sachiko said, this time she was the one to kiss Ren. “This isn’t normally my style, but sense you had the guts to actually confess how you felt towards me, I’ll give you a chance.”
“Really?!” Ren smiled happily at her.
“Though you know, you probably would strongly disagree with me, but I think I like you better as a girl.” She teased.
“I guess that’s a start, at least you agreed to give me a chance for now. More than I hoped for.” Ren sighed.
“Come on” Sachiko told Ren, holding out her hand as she got out of the hot springs smirking at him. “Let’s go back to our room where we can discuss this some room.”
That was the start of their new found relationship.
