Daemon whistled a tune that was stuck in his head as he meandered down the hallway his eyes settling on the tile patterns under his feet. They shown back their colors melding together the longer he stared at them. He got like this sometimes. When the outside world seemed to be taking a backseat to the rest of the world even if it was right in front of him. The swirling patterns transported him back to his first day of kindergarten. Holding his mother's hand he stumbled over his untied shoe. She makes a tsk noise under her breath and she bent over retying his sketcher while telling him how to do it.
"Make bunny ears, twirl them around, send the rabbit down the hole and pull the ears tight." Daemon nodded his eyes searching the faces of all the other parents and little kids alien to him and seeing all the bright colored paint he felt like he was stepping into a whole new universe that had previously never been discovered.
He is snapped back to reality when he began hearing small footsteps not too far off. Daemon raised his head and saw Alaina walking around. He smiled checking her out from afar.
"Hey." he said raising his hand up in greeting.

"That's good, yes?" Daemon asked peering at Alaina from behind his hair. He dropped the lock of hair aware that Alaina thought he was doing it as a nervous habit. It wasn't quite a nervous habit. More like a when I don't know what else to do with my hands habit. "What's so funny?" He tilted his head slightly to one side allowing his hair to flop around a bit. He rolled his eyes as a thick lock fell in front of his right eye. He brushed it back into place. He straightened his head and stretched his back showing off his nicely sculpted chest beneath his thin cotton t-shirt.

"Now that just hurts." He said pretending to sound hurt. "Pure steel." he said poking his chest. "You are just jealous that your boy doesn't have my fantastic body shape." Daemon said joking while modeling several different poses showing off his physique. Daemon erupted into a fit of laughter pausing only slightly to try and catch his breath.

Daemon laughed again. "So you don't have a boy? Do you have a man then? Possibly a girl hidden somewhere?" He made a show of looking around letting fake sadness tinge his gaze at not finding anything. He shrugged his shoulders in a helpless way and sighed. "I can't find anyone." he said touching her arm. "Perhaps you would have better luck?"

The likes of me..Hmmm. Was there something wrong with him? Daemon shrugged going back to whistling his tune not even remembering where it came from. He felt a bit bad for being such a jerk. Most of the times he couldn't really stop himself from acting like that. He didn't even know when he had gotten it. Maybe when his foster parents called him an abomination and sent him here. The people he loved and called mom and dad turned against him and cast him out of their lives like yesterdays trash. He watched Alaina walk away not intending to follow her. Daemon slouched against a wall. He didn't feel like going to his room to deal with work. Closing his eyes he could see the tire swing in the front yard hanging from a large oak tree that had seemed ancients to him. The rythmic whoosh whoosh as he swung from side to side careful to keep his balance. Another flashback takes him to the year when he got a puppy for his birthday. It was a little spotted thing that grew into a Lanky mutt. He loved that dog so much. He wasn't allowed to see Velvet anymore, but his ex parents still had him. He wondered briefly if Velvet missed him as much as he missed Velvet and his soggy wake up kisses or scrabbling for his blanket and finding that Velvet had stolen it and had made a nest out of it. He smiled faintly his mind floating to his happier days with Velvet off on another adventure of their unquenchable curiousity.
