[Hero]

Allegiance: Exiles Clan

This thread details the role of the hero and what is expected of an individual with this rank. As well as listing the prompts for skill challenges.

Note: A hero may only be a gargoyle of the hunter, scout, or warrior body types. The only gargoyle with magic in this clan are the Divine, and they do not partake in adventures.

[Role]

The exiles are a very loose colony of gargoyles living together, having been driven out by the ancestral clan for choosing to follow the leadership of the Divine. All types and all kinds are welcomed into the midst of the exiles, provided that they pay their respects to the clan's leaders. Everyone is expected to pull their own weight, and no one is entitled to help anyone. In a society where everyone minds their own business, who exactly is there to protect the masses when danger comes ripping through the forest? Anyone who sets their mind to it. Heroes are just ordinary gargoyles that have taken it upon themselves to adventure and pick fights with the nasties that lurk in the forest.

Anyone can become a hero for just about any reason. Perhaps they're seeking revenge for a bad upbringing, or maybe their patron god or goddess has asked them to become their champion and complete tasks for them. Whatever the reason may be, a hero is as diverse as those who live within the clan. They can be any body type and posses any assortment of skills. Having not been trained since birth to perform such tasks, they develop naturally and at the rate the individual chooses.

Having chosen to put their life on the line, heroes are revered among the clan... at least in the sense that they get the best living quarters. Most of the clan will not object if a hero takes a wood cottage for themselves, even if they are going to be the only one's living in it; but, being a hero also has its down side. Others may come to expect things from a hero they otherwise wouldn't have bothered them with as a regular member, and rivalries with other heroes from other patrons could spring up to complicate things. All in all, an exiles life is spent watching their own back.

Perk

A hero walks a different path in life, neither bound by the honor code of ancestral warriors nor completely restricted by the Divine: their path is one of adventure and mayhem. Because of their thirst for discovery and excitement, they're often incredibly reckless in battle. Also gains the perk from which ever lines they happen to be on.

Feeling Lucky: A hero may reroll 1 missed attack per battle, but must take the second result.

[Skill Challenge]

The hero is in the unique position of being the most flexible of ranks, and it would be impossible to write prompts for every sort of combination. So, for the hero to progress in skill ranks, you'll have the freedom of creating your own scenario. Please follow the guidelines below, and post the completed 500 word or more response in your journal in order to receive credit.

  • Must be primarily about your character using the skill in question.
  • Character needs to overcome a challenge through the use of this particular skill.
  • You can only use one response for one skill. In total, that will be 15 journal entries for the maximum of +5 to each skill.
