Have you ever noticed how in the anime series, when he goes to a new reagion Ash always starts out with one Pokemon, Pikachu? But in the previous region, hed had total kick-butt Pokemon. Why do they make him start with Pikachu?

Just wonderin'.

I was thinking that he does that to make room for new team members. As a pokemon trainer, catching new pokemon was part of the whole thrill of exploring a new region, I suppose.

i always wonder that but and on a really really rare occasion he will use his old one sometimes i agree about making room for new ones but the others are really powerful and deserve to prove themselves in the new regions

Well there is a good reason for that, with the anime the creators like to cuts off most ties with the last so that newer viewers are not confused, which has made the whole series kinda of stupid since Ash dosent age. Also Pikachu is the most know Pokemon so it will always be in ash's party. Pikachu is also pokemons mascot
