The Blood Yard, shares the same dimensions as a rugby pitch.
It is 144 meters by 70 meters.
The main difference of this field is that the whole field is surrounded by a huge grey wall. The bottom meter of the wall has been stained different shades of red.
The ground was originally covered in grass, but after time became dirt, and now sand... red sand. The whole area has taken the tole of battle and has turned from a once prime, possible playing field, into a battle field stained with blood.
The wall extends 50 meters into the air, and is quite thick. There has been modifications to the wall so that no missed attacks leave the Blood Yard and damage the rest of the Soul Society. There are also several viewing areas much similar to a sports box, they are 16 meters off the ground and 4 meters high, and they are 4 meters deep, and 10 meters wide. They are there for viewing only and are fitted with reinforced glass in order to withstand 'missed attacks'.
There are a total of 7 of these boxes each capable of holding 12 people with room to walk around.
Other than the sand turning red, and the walls degrading. Some one, has taken the opportunity to graffiti images of warriors fighting hollows and the dead (Skeletons, creatures of nightmare, etc..), on the upper half of the Yards wall... and one particular image stands out, a warrior, painted and cut into the wall as red as blood, a smaller figure beside him, in purple paint... that's eaten into the wall, and all around the two of them, bones, death and suffering... of man and hollow alike.
