Anyway thanks everyone =) Oh ya. A lot of people around here do engagement photos and have one of the photos displayed at the wedding. Some people even do bridals where the bride has photos taken of herself with the dress on before or after the wedding.

Do you edit them and clean them up after you take them?
If so, what sort of thing do you change?
And do you shoot JPEG or RAW?

Aww did you not have a great wedding photographer? I do minor corrections in RAW before converting them to .jpg to give them in the client.

and I'm not just saying that.
My first choices for photographers were wither booked up or impossible to contact!

If he was a professional that did not please his client then he was not a very good professional. Though i'm sure you could have shopped around more and found someone that suited your tastes. Also many professionals like myself are willing to travel even if their studios are not in your state. But whats done is done.
