Whether you are drawn to the Manor by investigation, or have lost someone close to you you cannot get over, this place calls and beckons in the world of nightmares.

However even in this world, there are rules to follow, and Reika enforces these rules, pertaining both to the world itself and the world of Gaia.

1) Follow the TOS at all times

2) Everyone in the Manor of Sleep, no matter your abilities or powers, is the same. You have the same stats available as everyone else, and no one is above the rules of the Manor. If there are any exceptions they will be approved and listed in one of these opening posts.

3) Post as you can, and post only when applicable. Once a post order is established, its important to follow that order unless circumstances (like someone is away and hands the Camera Obscura to another in the party) change, post as you see its your turn.

3a) If you have questions about the order people post, just ask. As there can be more than one person in the party, or more than one group in the manor, I will do my best to keep the post orders listed.

4) Until the hour is finished (out of 13), a new hour/investigation point will not start.

5) If circumstances prevent you from posting for more than a week it is important to tell the GM (me) about this. I will NPC your character in regards to handing over the Camera Obscura if your character has it, and you will expire from the Manor for that hour, leaving the other people to complete it instead, and you will have to trust that they will.

6) Please keep talking to me! If something is wrong or if people aren't getting something, you have to ask. No question is stupid!

(setup means these rules may be edited at any time as I'm figuring out how to phrase them all.)

Three stories into the manor


Chris Talespinner - A young woman with a tragic past. She replaces Mio's storyline in the Manor, complete with new locations and boss ghost. Can someone help her move past the tragedy she lived years ago?

Main Storyline Ghost - TBD Not Yuu, but someone who gets followed into the manor.

Dahlia and Morgan - These Phoenix Wright ghosts have found themselves replacing the rope shrine maiden of Fatal Frame. Don't worry, Dahlia was hanged. The ropes will still be there.

Reika Kuze is still around, still the cause, and still the end.

Character Creation


How to make a character for the manor:

Characters for the manor can be anything. However inside the Manor everyone is the same. Your character gains 3 stats that have points put into them, and that will be the base for the manor.

Most every action in combat is dictated through dice rolls. And combat is handled with the Camera Obscura. Every group in the manor will have 1 Camera Obscura.

There are three measures of strength/sanity: Senses, Willpower, and Nerves. These abilities are used in both exploration and combat. Characters are free to distribute 3 points. They can be upgraded with a certain number of successful photos (points in a way). In a group, each successful photo counts for each person in the party. If you leave the party for any reason (expelled from the manor, go off on your own exploring) then the photo count from then on does not count towards you.

Every character has 1 in each area by default.

  • Senses is used for detection of ghosts and other supernatural energies that mark significant objects or areas in the Manor of Sleep. A Senses score of 0 means the character cannot focus on their environment, bewildered out of fear.
  • Willpower is used for defending against direct attacks by ghosts, and can also be used in pushing them away, even without the use of charms or the Camera Obscura. It also helps navigate dangerous areas of the Manor of Sleep. A Willpower score of 0 means the character's spirit is lacking, paralyzed by fear.
  • Nerves is used for performing physical tasks. This includes evading ghosts, helping comrades, or moving obstacles in the Manor of Sleep. A Nerves score of 0 means the character is exhausted, weakened by fear.


When all your points reach 0, you're expelled from the Manor. The tattoo spreads. 13 hours until you fall into that deep sleep and are unable to continue. If you have a stone mirror, your points all reset at time of expulsion and you remain in the manor.

Encountering a Ghost:
  • Ghosts make different attacks that target specific abilities. Roll 1d20 + targeted ability for total defense score vs 2d10.
  • For powerful attacks that target multiple abilities, separate rolls are made for each targeted ability.
  • One or more points is expended for failing to defend against, resist, or avoid a Ghost's attack. If all abilities reach zero, the character receives Game Over and is expelled from the Manor.


Using Ability Points:

Certain actions can require the use of an ability point. These are just examples, we'll see how many I actually end up using.

  • Senses: closely examining an object; mapping the layout of a room; detecting the presence of ghosts; searching for useful items
  • Willpower: resisting harsh cold or noxious air; surviving long falls and other traps
  • Nerves: crossing unstable paths; moving objects or people; long jumps or high climbs; squeezing into small spaces

Feats With 0 Ability Score?: If a character attempts to perform a feat with an ability score of 0, they roll a 1d20 vs (2d10 or 5d4). No points are lost upon failure, but they cannot try again unless assisted by another character expending their own points.

Healing?: Characters can "heal" others by expending a great number of points to restore a lesser number of points to another character. (2-for-1 or 3-for-2)

Spirit Water - Full Restoration of Stats

Stone Mirror - Instead of expiring, you get a full restoration of stats. HOWEVER, only one mirror may be carried per person. And once a mirror is picked up by a person, they are unable to give it to another player. Choose wisely.


Item Use - Unless otherwise stated, items may be shared among players. All items may not be given to another player during combat.

Character Creation and Profiles

  • You must submit a profile in order to join this RP, no exceptions.
  • If you are going to use a post style, you must include whether you have the camera obscura or not, how far along the tattoo is on you, and which storyline your character follows. (There is at least one main person per storyline that has to be there. Everyone else can join at their discretion/talking IC with others)
  • Everyone that has abilities will have them nulled in the manor unless otherwise stated. You won't be able to affect the manor from the outside, or vice versa.

History:
Chris is in the manor because she is following a child from her past. She originally had drowned in a boat accident, but her master had her revived and those memories sealed. Once the seal weakened and broke, she remembered what had happened, all the people that had died because of her. Included her blood bonded, a Rhennee bonding ceremony she'd performed without thinking with a young girl named Lily, who she calls Lillies. Her mother, Sepherene also has wound up in the manor and is trying to kill Chris again. Both Lillies and Sepherene draw Chris into the manor, both for their own reasons. Lillies is a helpful spirit while Sepherene is trying to destroy her.
As she is replacing the Mio storyline, she does not do combat or fight others. She also has a special someone named Donovan Yuhara, a half incubus but it seems he's having his own, pardon the pun, demons to deal with at the moment. (This description may change at a later date)
Abilities: Chris has various bardic abilities, bardic magic, a witchblade, and Seeker of the Song abilities as well as two good longswords, a whip, and a few musical instruments and critters that surround and protect her. However as she will most likely be sleeping only for the duration, none of this matters.
