She bears her heart,
Heavy, yet strong
She hides it behind
Armour of ice
And a shield of thorns
She wears a disguise
A welcoming smile
A warm embrace
She protects herself
She doesn’t need you
Or anyone else
She swears she could
Walk away from it all
Vanish from sight
She’s fond of you
You blunt the thorns
And melt the ice
She’ll smile true for you
Always for you
Only for you
She bears her heart
Bright, yet fragile
She won’t hide it away
Not from anyone
It’s in your hands.
