The hurt will only last him a day or so
But to her the scars will last forever
And she doesn't know who she can run to
She has no clue who can make it better
And he's ok with everything by now
Usually that would make it alright for her
But her heart is waiting for her to know how
And waiting for him to see things clearer
She knows that in truth he'll never be hers
But he likes her just enough that she'll fall further
And her love keeps making him happier
But as she falls deeper she only gets sadder
He doesn't ask her for very much
But the little he asks is getting too much for her
And they both know it's more than a crush
But only she knows that it's crushing her
Sometimes she wishes she had never told him
That way her heart may not have escaped her
She wonders if they could ever be something
And the thoughts get away and she only feels bitter
She resigns in her heart to find someone new
Someone she'll trust to make her heart flutter
Someone who won't leave her crying and blue
And somehow someday she'll begin to feel better.
