Alright, since you liked Durarara!! I think you'd be able to stand Serial Experiment Lain. It takes a bit of time for things to start rolling and make sense. The anime is made for adults and thus it has adult themes; though don't get me wrong it's not like it's a hentai or anything like that. One down side is that there aren't a lot of characters, well sort of...

kareshi kanojo no jijou / kare kano
blood +
cardcaptror sakura
death note
samurai X
jigoku shoujo
eyeshield 21
fullmetal alchemist brotherhood
k-on
basilisk
i am looking for something that has nice art, preferably non of those Gothic stuff and/or overly exaggerated stuff, and a fluid animation with a unique story to boot just like the ones i've listed above.

DoodleNaut here's my list on no particular order: kareshi kanojo no jijou / kare kano blood + cardcaptror sakura death note samurai X jigoku shoujo eyeshield 21 fullmetal alchemist brotherhood k-on basilisk i am looking for something that has nice art, preferably non of those Gothic stuff and/or overly exaggerated stuff, and a fluid animation with a unique story to boot just like the ones i've listed above. Princess Tutu. Cowboy Bebop. Gatekeepers if you want a more 'light-hearted' tone, Gatekeepers 21 if you want a darker tone. Madoka Magica. Baccano! Persona 4, which is currently on-going.

Persona 4, which is currently on-going. i've seen the first five, cowboy bebop is the only notable one. as for the last three, i know their stories but i haven't seen them. not really interest in madoka but i'll try to watch baccano and persona 4

I Strongly suggest Code Geass, I think the art is beautiful. And the storyline is awesome. like death note it kinda blurs the line of good and evil, It gives you a well meaning perspective on both sides of the battle. And also it the main character gets a little conceded at times

I've watched it and it was ok, as for the art, it somehow makes me think that it looks a lot like gundam seed +clamp art.

Okay this is strange but I am actually going to suggest something that I'be never seen. But you seem really interested in nice art and I have seen clips from a series called Kara no Kyokai. The the art looks beautiful and fluid and amazing. I think you should look into it. Other than that, There is an anime movie called escaflowne that had beautiful art and was quite good. in my opinion

Black Bushi Okay this is strange but I am actually going to suggest something that I'be never seen. But you seem really interested in nice art and I have seen clips from a series called Kara no Kyokai. The the art looks beautiful and fluid and amazing. I think you should look into it. Other than that, There is an anime movie called escaflowne that had beautiful art and was quite good. in my opinion ohh really? i'll check it out then. as for the movie, when you say "escaflowne" are you referring to the Vision of Escaflowne Movie?
