Generation Beyond

2045, Metropolis, it’s been nearly six years since the new Batman had taken on the mantle, keeping Gotham safe with his new brand of justice. In the beginning of his career, he was invited to join the Justice League, the long known association of heroes fighting the good fight when one hero was not enough. When he was invited to join the actions were for rather different reasons. Superman at the time had been possessed by an alien parasite that soon attempted to take over the minds of the other members of the league. Nearly succeeding, it took the actions of the newly minted Batman to fend off the threat and even save the League. Deciding to not remain full time with the League, his actions, along with events that had unfolded, opened the door for new heroes to join the League. Realizing that the League should not be a group of a few for the same risks seen before, they decided to open the doors to a whole new generation of the Justice League.

But the League superiors were not the ones to let them in without a hitch. These heroes needed to be trained, to be disciplined. They have come to live in Metropolis, in the newly renovated Watchtower. These men and women will learn the way of old heroes, and embrace those teachings with their new age ideals.

Welcome to the new generation. Generation Beyond.

New People: For those that are new to the guild, you should have arrived at The Watch Tower within the past day or so. Have your character meet with one of the primary members, have them walk into the facility, your call. So long as you get an introductory post in you're fine.

Due to this being the first story, characters can be introduced later into this story at any time.

He stands in the air, his blue eyes gazing down upon the ever growing and ever bustling streets of Metropolis. He can hear an insect sneeze miles away, he can see microscopic details of the world from hundreds of feet away. He is a being born on a different world, adopted by ours. He has decided to defend his new home with all he can muster.

He is Superman.

The golden hero of the world, one of its greatest. And as the wind blows through his salt-pepper hair, he takes in a deep breath as he awaits for details of the coming day. Peering towards his communicator, he grows slightly impatient. Shouldn't they have said something by now? He wondered.

A voice crackled over the comm-link, "New recruits are coming in Superman.", the deep voice of Warhawk made it clear enough as to who was left in charge of the facility. Kai-ro likely had some business to conduct in parts of the sector, the young Green Lantern would arrive later to see the new members. Barda and Aqua-Girl both were off in the middle of the Pacific Ocean at the moment, leaving it just to Warhawk and himself.

"Read you loud and clear." he responded, "You see our longest guest?", the first of the newly recruited League members had in actuality been living there for quite a few years. He remembered when the Bat-Mobile came into the main hangar, a young Batman bringing him in on a hospital bed. He'd been frozen for decades, and Bruce's equipment was just not enough to help the young man. And so they brought him in, nursing him to health, and even training him in the use of his abilities. When the talks finally ended, he was the first inducted member.

"Sorry Superman, you know how he is." Warhawk answered, "He's likely jumping off buildings again. You know how he is. Kid's got fire, I like it."

"Very well, try and get a hold of him. He needs to meet his new colleagues. I'm going to make another sweep of the city. Superman out." and with that he shut off the comm-link. As he pondered what would come of this as he flew, he enjoyed the silence or what little silence he could muster and continued on. The day looked pretty normal.

But what days are ever really normal?

Savanna sat there on the couch in the main lounge area of the watch tower. Her fingers were clicking away at her phone as she carried on her conversations by text. Her right leg was crossed over her left, the foot bouncing slightly. Irritation was plain on her face as she looked to the screen of her phone. A month, she had been here a month and had yet to find someone willing to take her on as an intern. Of course Savanna thought that an internship was below her, it was something that needed to be done, just so she could get her foot in the door.

A sigh passed Savanna’s lips as she let her hands drop to her lap. Why was this so difficult? She had many contacts within the fashion world, and not to mention she had the best portfolio out of her graduating class. Daddy, she needed to talk to Daddy. It was the last thing she wanted to do, especially after making such a big deal out of wanting to do it herself. She couldn’t help but blame her recent move for this issue.

A month. Vanna had moved a month ago from L.A. to the Metropolis, all because of the thought that she would be around people like her, those who had powers, so she wouldn’t have to hide. It was true, the people here did have powers or gifts, but they were just not her kind of people. She had nothing in common with them. It was things like that that made her wonder how long she would stay.

Savanna smoothed out her mini skirt, pulling it down slightly to keep it from revealing too much. Her hazel eyes went to the T.V. screen, and what she saw made her cringe. There were some people who were just not meant to design things, and the dress the model was wearing was proof.
"He can make thousands upon thousands of dollars with shitty designs like that, yet I still can’t get someone to give me an internship." Her eyes rolled before she brought her buzzing phone back up to eye level. Apparently she wasn’t the only one who thought the same way.

Vanna needed something to do. This was starting to bore her. Again she looked up from her phone, though this time it was to the door. Everything was quiet, or so it seemed to be. Shopping, she could always go shopping. She wasn’t needed around here, and as far as she knew, nothing was going to be going on today anyway. Again her eyes went back to the phone as she debated on who to invite to her shopping trip.

Our fascination costs human lives...

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Where am I? Lounge
What trouble have I gotten myself into this time? None yet, but it’s bound to happen soon…

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

One month. Thirty-one days. It never occurred to Aurelio that such a long time could be so absolutely boring without Doctor M. In thirty-one days he’d stopped maybe four robberies, and saved a rather rich man from falling to his death in Metropolis; the latter a fact that made him some quick money on his first day in this realm. With M around, there would have been at least six explosions, twelve death threats, and running… So. Much. Running. But it was always an exciting time with him around. His life almost always on the line, but he never regretted a moment of it, and now that it was gone for now he absolutely dreaded the return to a slow, normal life.

It had been exactly a month since M died and Aurelio was left stranded in this future version of the Earth with nothing but the skeleton key that now hung from the silk cord around his neck. One thing he had to get used to was clothes shopping. For the longest time he needed no money, and any time he needed a new set of clothes M just simply conjured an outfit out of thin air. But it was so unbelievably hard to find clothing of his preferred style to buy, and it was always so expensive. It was lucky for him that the man he’d saved his very first day here had given him, at the very least, enough to buy at least two new outfits and a night’s stay at a cheap hotel; he was just fortunate some people were far too grateful when their lives were saved. In the mean time he’d taken something of a job as a rigger at a theatre in Metropolis, mostly just to make a living; at least amongst actors and the like he would not appear as odd as he tended to be everywhere else.

Throughout this time he often thought about perhaps returning to Star City, but even if he did, the Star City of this dimension was not the one he knew and loved. It would be uncomfortable living in a place so familiar yet so foreign at the same time. If he was going to make a new start, it might as well have been in a place completely new to him. Odd that the fates decided to bring him to Metropolis of all places. Of course, it was not very long until he was noticed by those of this dimension’s superhero community. Night times often found him floating around the city, trying to get a grip on his newfound powers granted to him by the large amulet embedded to his chest and hidden beneath his shirt. Those nights were spent mostly floating over random rooftops practicing the electricity-based powers the amulet him, which so far mostly consisted of bolts of varying sizes.

That was how the Justice League found him. Superman was originally wary that he was going to use his powers for the sake of crime, as many whom found themselves newly powered were so tempted to do. After about a week of observing the young sorcerer, he was eventually asked to come into the fold of a new, younger version of this era’s Justice League. Feeling it was an honor to be asked to do so, as well the secret hope that it will bring some excitement, he accepted the Man of Steel’s offer. And that lead to today.

Aurelio stepped out of the elevator into one of the floors of the living area levels. He was no fond of elevators. They were far too enclosed for his tastes, and he felt them unnecessary for him. Why did he need an elevator when he could fly? He was more than enthusiastic to leave the metal contraption. Without hesitation his feet began lifting themselves off to hover just a few inches above the ground. Call him lazy, but he simply always preferred levitation or flying to other forms of transportation. Perhaps it was a trait he picked up from M; in several years, he could not easily remember a moment when M’s feet ever touched the ground for much longer than a moment or two, no matter where he went. It was also one of the reasons it was so important for him to master levitation in his mind, so he could learn to keep up with his master.

His floating form moved itself forward, his left hand holding onto the strapping holding his guitar in place on his back. Not really caring where he was going, he at some point ended up in what appeared to be some kind of lounging area. He stopped for a moment to scan the room, finding it empty aside from a rather frustrated looking girl. He continued on in her direction, being ever the open person he was. As he neared her he opened his mouth for an introduction, hand reaching toward his head to remove his top hat in a gentlemanly bow, ”Hello there, me llamo-“ Right as his fingers felt a few locks of his hair he knew something was wrong. He patted his hand on the top of his head to realize his hat was missing. His expression went to a half-amused, half-panic state. ”Oh, dammit. She’s going to kill me,” he said out loud as his eyes wandered around the room in a hurry, searching.

His eyes stopped by the doorway when he saw his favorite hat lying on the ground. Obviously, he must have been floating too high and accidentally knocked it off when he touched the top of the door frame without noticing. He bowed his head politely at the girl. ”Excuse me for a moment, Miss.” He turned toward his sacred hat and flew off in a considerably faster speed, though still not much more than a casual hover. He picked up his hat, then flew back toward the girl as he dusted it off. ”Apologies, ma’am. Judy Garland gave me this hat, and she would have killed me if she heard I’d lost it,” he said rather coolly, as if the fact that until a month ago he was a time traveller/dimension hopper was not in the least bit an impressive thing. ”Lovely girl, but a bit of a temper problem- and don’t even get me started on the drinking…”

He finally placed his top hat back on his head as he floated near the girl, then once again removed it in a bow as he spoke, ”As I was saying, me llamo Aurelio Lucero de Jesus. He placed his hat back on his forehead and paused for a moment, placing his hand under his chin as if pondering. ”Though I suppose you superhero lot do like your code names… hmm…” He paused again, then snapped his finger as a thought came to him rather quickly” ”How about the Eldritch? Yes, I rather like the Eldritch. Pretty sure I stole that from a Lovecraft novel, but who’s gonna sue?” he added with something of a smirk on his face. ”Lovecraft… now there is a nice guy… bit of that old world 18th century racism going on, but who wasn’t back then? By the way, Cthulhu mythos- spoiler alert –kind of maybe sort of based on a true story.”

It suddenly occurred to him that he may have been intruding on the girl’s personal space. He smiled at her a bit apologetically. ”Sorry. I babble sometimes.”

James Fairchild
☣ Malachite ☣

Location - Gym -> Lounge

Currently - Too much free time... Sugar!

Who was your creator?
The one who made you, the flame I need to heat the silver.
You’d bring Gods to their knees pick out the bad seeds,
Relieve the generals of theirs duties!

The modified punching bag thundered loudly when James' right hook landed. Three months. Sliding around to the side to smoothly adjust his footing, Jim unleashed a flurry of jabs before shifting into a solid one-two combination. Three months since they'd taken the would-be rogue vigilante, Malachite, into Watchtower and provided the necessary tutelage and support to allow him to start actually honing his skills beyond the mere boost the synthetic Kryptonite gave him. Jim stepped in closer to the bag, thundering into it with a succession of quick gut shots. Three months since he'd last seen that pained look in his father's eyes. The look of disappointment, the look of loss. Sliding back, Jim launched a right power punch, ripping the bag from it's anchor. "Damn," he scolded himself, cringing. Three months... five bags. He obviously still hadn't come to grips with how much strength the Kryptonite offered.

James handed in a quick, hand written letter of apology and the replacement fee at the reception desk after his shower, the damp towel still draped around his neck. After the first two times, he'd been told the apology note was no longer necessary, but it had almost become like a tradition for him. Not to mention his moral obligation. Honestly, he wouldn't be surprised if there was a pot on when he'd bust the next one. Taking the elevator back up to the lounge, when the doors opened he saw that apparently a pair of two new-ish faces had gathered there, all Jim knew about either of them was that the chick had been at Watchtower about a month. The guy in the hat, he didn't know, and someone dressed like that would be hard to forget.

He offered a simple "Hey," as he drifted past them, idly drying off his hair, as he made his way to a vending machine. He half listened, half overheard Aurelio's introduction as he shuffled through the coins in his pocket. "Jim," he offered without turning his focus from the machine, giving a friendly wave over his shoulder, closely followed by the clunk of the can being dispensed. Collecting the soda, he drifted back over to the pair before opening it, moving quick to catch the foam in his mouth before it bubbled over onto the floor. "Malachite," he finished finally before taking a sip, his green-within-green eyes shifting between the two. Despite the first impression that the encounter might offer the pair, James usually had the mental capacity to form proper sentences, rather than just single words. But right now, he was more focus on appeasing his sweet tooth than offering a decent introduction.

Who made you the master?
The Lady caster, I found you looking for a good time.
Now this blood and glitter, it tastes so bitter,
There’s no retreat for I surrender!

Deacon Richards
Location: Rooftop/Skyline of Metropolis/Watchtower
Thoughts: New people? I could use an audience.

User Image

The wind blew through his blonde hair as he stood atop the tallest building in Metropolis. Believe it or not it was not the Watchtower. It was in fact the new Daily Planet building. It had in fact been rebuilt following a major incident with the original Justice League. But since then, it had been restructured to be bigger and stronger. Of course it was much taller than it was during Deacon's younger years, but the familiarity of the building, even down to the giant globe rotating along the top with the logo wrapped around the metal structure reminded him of his own time. As he looked down at the city, he couldn't see anything in particular that caught his eye. In fact, everything caught his eye. He was living in a time at an age most people in his position would kill for. According to the natural laws of nature, he should be at least in his 60's, but here he was in his prime. This world astounded Deacon, captivated him in it's advancements in science, technology, art, literature. He entered a brave new world, one that was guided along by Superman and the other members of the League. Kai-ro in particular was a great help to the displaced youth. For such a young child, he held the words of someone 10 times his age within his mind. He acted as an impromptu therapist, helping him come to accept his place in this new world.

Hell, he started to accept it now. The tattoos along his arms glowed a bright white as he prepared himself for what was coming next. And then he fell.

Not exactly fall, more like he tipped himself off the edge. Head first in a madman's divebomb he accelerated fast down the edge of the building. If anyone in their offices was paying attention they'd think someone was trying to commit suicide. Deacon may have had a deathwish, but the reality is he would be ok. And even as he continued his descent, he held his breath quickly as he flew through one of the new floating cars. Remarkable technology really, now everyone could fly. That is, if they could afford it. As he continued his increasingly fast fall, he relaxed as he let the adrenaline flow through his body. The natural response to dangerous situations washed over him like a warm breeze. If only his body had come to terms with the fact that it was no longer normal. He proved this wrong as he began to fall faster, accelerated by his own powers at work. He'd done the math in his head, he was now about 20 stories from the ground, and in that moment 15. As soon as he hit 10 stories he shot out towards the rest of the city like a rocket. He laughed to himself as he made his way back to the Watchtower, switching on his comm link as he did so.

"Warhawk to Phantom, come in Phantom." came the stern voice of his flight instructor. Warhawk was the first person to see Deacon after he was brought into the Watchtower. He'd wanted to see what he was capable of, which surprised him when he phased through the bed and popped up behind him. Soon enough the two of them were practicing flight maneuvers inside the training center and even out in the streets.

Speaking into the link he replied, "Phantom to Warhawk, I needed some time to myself. Heading back to the Tower."

"Good to hear that, but get here quick. The new inductees are around, you need to make some introductions." he said to him. His calm and stern voice hiding the temper of a hot-blooded warrior.

A long sigh erupted from Deacon, "Gotcha, I'll go play nice nice with the new guys." he than shot forward with another burst of speed.

Making it to the Tower, he took the entrance at the hangar where he hit the emergency elevator. He figured that he might as well have some fun with meeting the new people. As he heard the ding of the elevator he focused hard and took a deep breath as he simultaneously turned invisible and shift through the floor. He made a quick movement towards the center of the room, slowly rising up as his lungs ached for air. Turning visible, it now looked like he was coming through the floor. One may not appreciate it, but this was how he did things. He wanted to use his powers the most he could, at any given time. So a dramatic entrance was something he always enjoyed.

Before him stood a rather wildly dressed gentleman, and a pleasantly attractive woman sitting down. He had no qualms with what the gent was wearing, in fact he liked his style. But for someone who came from another time period, and is adjusting to the fashions now, well one could only handle so much. He quickly noted that another person entered the room, if he could put a name to a face he'd say it was Jim? He'd only been in the facility for a few months, and so he'd not gotten accustomed to his presence.

"Good afternoon to all." he opened, his once transparent body now fully corpreal, and likely a surprise to see a fourth person enter the room rather unexpectedly, in fact randomly, "Name's Deacon."

This ought to be good.

Skylar Begay
Location: Streets of Metropolis
Thoughts: It’s so crowded!

User Image
Skylar jogged the streets of Metropolis, weaving through the crowd. It was so different from her runs out in the desert. Instead of her quiet, dusty trails, she was surrounded by noise and motion. It was highly disconcerting, but superior to running on a track in the Watchtower. She had never liked running indoors; it felt too confining.

She had only moved into the Watchtower a day ago, and apart from moving in, she had spent very little time in the building, preferring instead to roam the streets of Metropolis. She was quickly becoming adept at navigating the city, but so far had done little to defend it. Really, there was little she could do without proper training, which up until now she had been avoiding. With a sigh she changed direction, heading back to the tower. No better time to start than the present.

Thirty minutes later she was walking into the Watchtower. She had not yet gotten over the awe of living in the high-tech headquarters, and it would probably some time yet before she was used to it. She pulled out her ID card to be scanned, wondering if the card was really necessary. This facility had the best security in the country, maybe even in the world, and she had the feeling that she was being scanned by other hidden devices, confirming her identity.

After passing the main security, she pulled her hair out from its ponytail and shook it out. She had just stepped onto the elevator when she realized she didn’t know where anything was. She barely knew where her room was. She picked a floor at random to start with. The building, while big, could not be impossible to navigate. She would find what she was looking for eventually.

The elevator doors opened, revealing a lounge area. There were three people already there, a fashionable woman sitting on a couch texting, an eccentrically dressed man, and a blond man with a soda. She stepped out in time to see another man rise out of floor. She stopped for a moment, shocked, before realizing this was probably commonplace in the Watchtower, where most everyone was super-powered. “Good afternoon,” she responded. “My name is Skylar.”

Emry Sullivan
The Magician

(THE, not A, THE. Got it? You sure? Okay that's good, because I really don't like it when people think I'm just like all the rest. It makes me moody. And I don't like being moody because then I have to take my calm down pill, which makes me sleepy. Then I loose all kinds of daytime with a nap. And I wake up grouchy so-)

And for my next trick...

Emry Sullivan is very nervous, he's not so great with change, and he's just taken a big move from a group home in Gotham to the Watchtower in Metropolis. He's trying to convince himself it's just another kind of group home, until he gets more comfortable with the new surroundings. But it isn't working.

"I'm scared. What if people don't like me?"
"B-b-but everybody likes me!"
"Except for the hero types. They ususally are a bit short with me."
"I can't blame them though. I did do some pretty bad stuff."
"But I never actually succeeded in killing anyone. I'm not all bad."
"And even if I am. Now there's lots of people to keep me in line. Right?"
"Yep. It's a much safer group home. See? There's a whole bunch of us, living together. And, and, and we'll get along just fine."
"Maybe."
"I think so."
"I hope so."

He was pacing his new room, not five minutes after being fitted with an ankle monitor and left to his own devices. Naturally he's already spawned a double and they are pacing in opposite directions. Emry has never liked being totally alone, but he's lucky in that his power provides some company. Even if the conversations can get a little repetitive.

His nervous talking was interupted by a call on his mobile phone. He scuffled briefly with himself to grab hold of it and answer the call, proping up the monitor on the table so he could see his therapist face to face, "Hello Dr. Williams. I'm scared. What if I have another break and you aren't here to help me this time?"

Emry hadsn't told his therapist the whole truth to his moving. In fact, he had never told anyone his identity as The Magician during his stay at Arkham. At the time he'd been affraid they would never let him out if he did, now he's not sure why he doesn't say something. In any case, it was requested that for the time being he not tell Dr. Williams everything.

"We discussed this before you left Emry. You were confident then that you could handle being away. What's changed?" Small round glasses watch him carefully from the monitor, mostly concerned. But the psychiatrist is confident in his belief that a change of scenery would be good for his patient. Though he would have prefered smaller steps.

"Well, well, it's just that-"
"Everything's different here. The buildings. The cars. The people dress funny."
"And scared. What if people don't like me?"
"I just said that everyone likes me, a minute ago. Wasn't I listening?"

Dr. Williams waits a moment for Emry to glare at himself, wanting an opportunity to interject without interupting, "Emry, would you please send the double away? He's presenting a bit of a distraction today."

"I am not a-" With a soft pop, the sort you feel rather than hear, the double vanished, "I'm so sorry Dr. Williams. So sorry. I'm just off balanced. I'm not used to big changes."

"I'm very glad that you can recognise what bothers you Emry. Would you like to continue our talk from our last session?" Dr. Williams likes to let Emry lead conversations, only interjecting to bring the young man's attention to something and suggest new ways to respond to things. It has also been a great help in relaxing Emry, allowing him a chance to say whatever he wants and get things off his chest without feeling the need to act out.

Today it is a short session, and Emry is left feeling much better afterwards. Creating another double Emry went about unpacking one of his bags and setting up his treadmill. He mostly has the piece of equipment to wear off excess energy before bed. Sometimes he has a double on the machine, while he and another double have a contest on the dance simulation game. Nothing says sleep like a lot of exercise and activity.

"I'm bored of unpacking. I want to explore the building."
"Should I see if someone will escort me around?"
"Nah, if I get lost I'll just stay put. It's what they told us to do in school. Then somebody will come and find me."
"This theory sounds flawed."
"Well then when I come up with a better idea I'll have to say so."

The two Emry's had a dispute in who would exit the room first. The compromise was that they would both squeeze out at the same time. This is quickly decided to be most uncomfortable. And they promptly repeated the spectacle when they found the elevator.

"I want to push the button!"
"Which button am I pushing?"
"All of them!"
"Even the big red one? It says 'emergency stop' on it."
"I like big red buttons."
"Yeah, but isn't there a rule about not pushing them?"
"Those rules suck balls. I dare me to push it."

The elevator goes up a few floors with the two argueing about pushing the button. Every time the door opened they stuck their heads out and and looked around, then went back in to resume his debate about pushing big red buttons. Eventually the doors opened to the lounge area, he is still arguing.

"Come on push it!"
"No, you do it."
"I don't want to get in trouble."
"Well that's stupid. It doesn't matter who pushes it. I'm still going to get into trouble."
"I'm not stupid."
"Of course I'm not. But I sure say stupid things sometimes."
"I do not!"
The one Emry tackled the other, both of them falling out of the elevator as the doors close again. Rolling around on the floor in a scuffle they eventually get to be one on top of the other, "Take it back!"
"No!"
"I'm the boss. And I said take it back!"
"Yeah? How would I know?"
They paused a moment, as though a thought had just occured to them, still oblivious to anyone else in the room.
"Am I the double?"
"Actually I thought I am."

Emry stood up and dusted himself off, making sure to get his own back and fix his hair. Then they started looking each other over, "I think my hair is the same."
"Yeah, eyes are the same too. Think I could have two hearts again? It was so cool last time."
"What are the odds of the same organ being copied twice?"
"I dunno, maybe I have two stomaches then? I see an eating contest in my future!"

Finally realizing that he wasn't alone in the room Emry turned in sync towards the others and asked with two voices, "Do I look the same to you guys?" His self created excitement has chased away his nervousness of new people. Unfortunately, his self induced excitement has chased away his nervousness of new people. There will be no end to his acting out now.

Ta Da!

Where am I? I think I'm just arriving... And I'm having a video meeting with my therapist. Dr. Williams. Then I think I'm going to push every button on the elevator.

Savanna’s eyes went back and forth from the T.V. to her phone. She hadn’t found anyone worthy of going shopping with her yet. It was something a lot of girls would love to do, but it had to be with the right person, at least in Savanna’s case. The sound of the elevator caught her attention briefly, causing her to raise one perfectly sculpted brow. Of course she knew she wouldn’t be alone in the living area forever. She watched with mild interest as the man entered the room, her eyes assessing the way he was dressed. It didn’t take her long to see that he was not into fashion, and probably considered himself quite unique with the way he dressed. A small sigh passed her glossed lips as he made his way towards her. He was floating, through it wasn’t something to be considered awkward around here. Everyone had some sort of power in the Watch Tower.

Savanna decided to try and not be rude as she sat her phone in her lap, though her fingers still grasped it. The strange man began to bow as he introduced himself, or at least partly before he took note that something was missing. She opened her mouth to say something, but closed it promptly as he excused himself for a moment.
"Mhmm." Was the only thing to come from her as he went in search of whatever it was he had lost. Her eyes went back to her phone as he rambled on about someone, someone who had given him something. She half listened as she typed out a short reply to someone about being bothered by an oddly dressed man, and that she would talk to them later.

Savanna’s eyes went back up as he came over to her again, restarting his introduction. Was he talking in Spanish? It had to be. She forced back another sigh. Aurelio Lucero de Jesus was his name apparently. Though before she could get out her name, he went on. Oh this man was a talker, which wasn’t a bad thing when you were talking to the right person, especially a person who knew what you were rambling about. So for the moment, she simple looked at him, waiting for an end to come.

"I’m Savanna Carrol, Kat would be my code name I suppose." She paused for a moment before adding something to his last comment. "And yeah, I can see that." And again the elevator went off with a ding as the doors opened. God that dings was probably going to grate on her nerves.

Another man had joined them, though he seemed to be much less talkative than Aurelio. What she had gotten from him was a simplistic hey and his name, which was Jim. Though before she said anything to Jim in the ways of a greeting, another fellow joined them, one that seemed to simply rise through the floor. At least she didn’t hear the damned ding from the elevator. The urge to bash her head against a random wall was now growing. She had missed two or more of the presentations on the catwalk playing on the screen behind the guys in front of her. She forced a smile onto her face as she looked to the third male that had joined them.
"Hello Deacon, Jim." She said adding the other man in, though she didn’t bother to look for him. "I’m Savanna." Though again before more could be said, the elevator went off again, the doors opening allowing for someone else to join them. Savanna closed her eyes and took a breath in before letting it out as she opened them, this time to see that a girl had joined them.

Again, Savanna’s eyes went to work, addressing the looks of the woman, hoping for someone she would have something in common with, but it seemed unlikely. Skylar of course had to introduce herself as well.
"Nice to see another female amongst us." Though if it really would be nice, she was unsure. "I’m Savanna." She said for the third time. Though again it wasn’t long before they were interrupted yet again by the arrival of someone new, or two new people? Or was it just one? Oh hell.

At first Savanna simply thought the two boys were twins, which would have been something simple to accept as they fought and argued, and even the question they posed would be a simple one, one that she would leave for someone else to answer as her eyes finally flicked down to her phone. Yes, it was confirmed that she had missed something in the fashion show. Apparently one of the models had fallen off the edge.
"Damnit." She cursed under her breath. Now the urge to slam her head into a wall had grown.

Making his introduction, he was kindly met with the surprise of a few people. Granted, he wasn't surprised. No one can really be blamed for their surprise. The guy that phases through the floor is one that can only imagine the reaction he once got in the labs back when he was being tested. he was being experimented on to test the limits to his abilities. It was rather incredible what he had gone through to get what he had now. The injections, the hours of pain in bed. His pain was unimaginable, and it almost seemed unending. But when he came out, he had become stronger, healthier, and had a bit of the ability to walk through walls, turn invisible, and fly like the wind.

To think that after nearly decades of being stuck in the ice, his father's work would only be recognized for starting an illegal subculture. He'd heard about the Splicer culture, started by the son of a grad student that worked with his father. It was an insult to their names, to compare the two of them to a madman that attempted the assassination of the DA of Gotham.

He still regretted the nightmare of the quake, the rumbling still jogged in his memory. He'd remembered hearing his family's frantic cries as the highway broke down around them. His panting as he tried to run to them.

But it was all in the past, now he was working his way into embracing the future.

Looking to the members of the new recruits, he noted that they were quite eclectic. The man sporting a hell of an attire appeared to talk a mile a minute, the young girl he was talking to said her name was Savanna aka Cat, and the one that identified himself as Jim also offered his alias, Malachite. Interesting, he'd never heard the word before, probably something the world managed to develop over the years he'd been on ice. A new, and interesting woman appeared, identifying herself as Skylar. She looked to be not from the city, perhaps out in the midwest. Who knew?

And then the twins appeared. They came out of the elevator, arguing about something arbitrary and quite asinine. When they both asked if they looked alike, Deacon had to chuckle to himself.

"The two of you look identical. So what, are you twins or something?" looking to the rest of them, "Are these ying yangs for real?" He remembered the time when the Justice League had the greats. Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, and even the Manhunter. If this was the newest generation of the Justice League, he had to ask himself.

What the hell is going on with this world? And how did it get like this?

Though the can was angled and in the right position to think Jim was drinking, he didn't swallow once as his mouth filled up with the carbonated liquid, threatening to burn the back of his throat, as a guy that introduced himself as Deacon floated up through the floor. It was obvious from the display that this guy liked to put on a show, but that... that was just weird. So... astounded? So astounded was he at the entrance, that Savanna's introduction hadn't even registered. He hadn't even noticed another woman step out from the elevator until she introduced herself. Jim was a second away from making a mess before he remembered that he had to swallow, and lowering the can, he cleared his mouth with an audible gulp. "Afternoon," he offered to the two newcomers, his throat burning in protest.

Before he could add more, again being limited to a one word response, another, identical, pair came tumbling out of the elevator, apparently in the midst of some kind of argument. Were they trying to figure out which one was the real one? "Um," was all Jim could manage as his eyes drifted to the others in the room, hoping that someone else would say something, seeing as the ordeal had left him at a total loss for words. Thankfully, Deacon broke in, confirming that the pair was indeed identical. However, it was the question he directed towards the rest of them that finally put Jim's brain into gear again. "It;s actually pronounced Yin Yang," he started, after taking another sip to wet his whistle. "There's no G in Yin. Not to mention that comparing them to the Chinese philosophical concept doesn't really work here, seeing as these two are exactly the same. Just saying," he added in quickly at the end, faintly recalling something about this Deacon guy, which probably meant he'd been there a lot longer than Jim.

Wanting desperately to change the subject, Jim shifted his attention back to the apparent twins. "So what do we call you two? The Wonder Twins?" he asked half jokingly, half pointing out the lack of introduction on their part.

Both redheads are disapointed that nobody else can see a difference either, their response came in total sync, "No. No no. We can't be identical. There's always something different." There was a pause and, without flashing anyone anything indecient, pulled their pants away from their waists and looked down their shorts, "I'm the same as ever." "Me too."

"Good, if that changed again I dunno what I'd do."
"It would totally suck."

They resumed their mutual examination, momentarily forgetting the others in the room. Suddenly they seemed to have the same thought and bopped each other on the forehead before pulling up their pantlegs for a look at their shoes.

"I have laces."
"I have velcro. Guess that makes me the double. I know how to tie my own shoes, so velcro is different."
"Kinda sucks that it's not a second stomach."

The double sighed and shrugged, "Maybe next time."

The real Emry fished some coins out of his pocket and dashed to the pop machine, "Sorry. I'm so sorry." Now back on track with room events he addressed people more appropriately, "I'm Emry." The double piped up, "And I'm Emry." Getting two drinks from the machine Emry threw one to his double who caught it effortlessly, "And what's wrong with being the yin to my own yang? I work best with myself." Which is true enough, as long as he knows what the trick entails he never has to educate an accomplice or sidekick. He comes with two assisstants as is.

"I wanna be better at working with other people." This brought a quick burp of agreement from the double who added, "I need to be better in general really." They both gave a nervous smile and let the proverbial elephant onto the coffee table, "I'm The Magician. I'm medicated now, and in therapy. And I'm trying really hard to be better." The real Emry lost his bluster so his double continued for him, "I just thought it would be helpful to be around lots of people who can point me in the right direction you know? I get confused a lot. About good things and bad things, I get confused and just do fun things. Which isn't always good things."

His record of fun things includes, arson, armed robbery, abduction, and several accounts of attempted murder. The last time he'd commited a crime, right before Emry Sullivan admitted himself to Arkham, he'd made an entire party of weathly Gothamites 'disapear.' They had been having a fundrasing event, unfortunately Emry wanted to see if he could make them 'disapear' and then couldn't figure out what to do with them. Unfortunately for him, Bruce Wayne was on the guest list, and it didn't take long for the young Batman to arrive in time to have everyone 'reappear.'

Our fascination costs human lives...

Where am I? Lounge
What trouble have I gotten myself into this time? Meeting the other team members

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

”A pleasure to meet you, Miss Savannah Carrol,” he said with a smile. Any other person might have been offended by Savannah’s confirmation of his self-deprecation, but the young sorcerer took it in stride with a simple grin. Few things ever really offended the man, and if anything he kind of agreed, otherwise he’d not have said anything. ”One thing I’ve learned in recent years is that babbling can save your life. It’s distracting, and very rarely do monsters notice your hands conjuring a spell when you’re talking about utter nonsense.” He let a few small sparks flow between his fingers and disappear just as quickly, then made a flicking motion with his fingers as if simulating an explosion. ”Then it’s poof- Off to the 5th Dimension with you!”

It was not very long till the two were joined by one of the other members of this new team. Aurelio brought his legs up and crossed them in an Indian sitting position, never once losing altitude as he floated a few feet above the floor, as Jim introduced himself and offered his own nickname. Aurelio once again bowed in his typically overly formal fashion, as M was always known to do, tipping his top hat in greeting. Saludos, Jim.” It was perhaps odd of him to the others to be so dramatic, but really it was a relatively tame quirk in comparison to many of the other ones he picked up from his previous master.

Only moments later they were joined by yet another apparent denizen of the tower. This one had a much more dramatic entrance. It was a male who seemed to phase through from the floor, as a ghost would, subsequently introducing himself as Deacon. He had to admit, he’d seen thousands of things far more shocking in his travels, but such an entrance was no less impressive even after the fact. That was cool,” he said. And with his attention span, that sentence was enough to start a whole new conversation altogether. ”Interesting note about the word ‘cool’; in certain demon-ruled dimensions the word is an invitation to a very disturbing sexual position.” He paused for a moment, expression making it clear he was reminiscing, a cringe appearing on his face for the last half moment or so. ”That was simultaneously the least and most fun weekend of my life.” Again he found himself losing track, but corrected himself once again, repeating his customary greeting. ”Er- sorry. As I meant to say, saludos, Deacon; me llamo Aurelio Lucero de Jesus, the Eldritch in the field.”

He extended his bow once he saw a new girl walk in, assuming she was around for his second introduction. Saludos, Skylar.” This was certainly looking to be an interesting gathering. Truthfully, Aurelio was itching for some adventure. Of the many things he needed to get used to about this realm, it was how slow time passed when he was not running for his life and finding utterly ridiculous solutions to impossible problems, and learning just how many possible kinds of life there is in existence. And learning real magic was fun too, even if the first few tries on certain spells often brought about disastrous results; magic was always a trial and error sport.

The final player eventually showed up, though this time it appeared to be twins instead of just one person. And from first impression alone, they both appeared to be completely out of their minds. He could not help but smile at the fact; it was always the crazy people that made life more interesting, and much more exciting. Even if sometimes they came out somewhat annoying. But hey, people often thought the same of him. Yes, this line-up was definitely looking interesting, though he wondered just how effective they would be. The young sorcerer stayed mostly quiet as the others interacted, mostly content to watch with amusement.

”I met the Wonder Twins once. Word to the wise: never question Zan’s sexuality. For a bucket of water, he can punch pretty hard,” he said with something of a nervous sigh. ”Still, his sister got a laugh out of it, so it was not all bad.” He turned his attention back to the twins, wondering just what he was going on about. From his words he appeared to be every bit as insane as Aurelio assumed him to be. ”Don’t worry,” he said with a bit of a chuckle. ”If meds fail, we can always try shock therapy.” He brought his hands within inches of each other, letting a few sparks flow between them before stopping. ”Okay, terrible joke. You all have permission to slap me the next time I make it.”

”Still, you know who you remind me of? Triplicate Girl. Talk about a party girl; well, two of her anyway. That third one was always so quick to call the cops when the music got too loud, and 31st century police are simply no fun at all.”

Skylar stepped out of the way of the elevator, further into the room. From behind her she heard the elevator ping and a pair of redheads stepped out, arguing about something. Were they twins? It certainly looked so to her. It was in the way they talked, too, as if one line of dialogue stemmed from two mouths. As they babbled, she found that she was half way right. They were not twins, but duplicates of each other, hence why they spoke in tandem.

Realizing that the other woman, Savanna, was now addressing her, Skylar said, "Yeah, it'll be nice to have some women on the team." Though it seemed to her that she probably had more in common with the crazy duplicate guys than this fasionista. She nodded in greeting to the one with the hat. Aurelio? It was going to take some time to remember all these names.

She leaned against the wall, waiting for all the chatter to die down so that they could get started. Actually, she wasn’t sure if the chatter would die down. This group of crazy people had not been what she had expected when she chose to join the League. “Too late to quit now,” she sighed.

"A pleasure to meet you as well." Savanna said out of habit. Her parents had beat it in to her at a young age that manners were almost everything, especially in a first meeting. Though of course she could hardly care anymore. A single brow perked for a moment with his next comment. So he did this on purpose? "I see. Do you make it a habit of sending people to other dimensions?" She couldn’t help but ask as she uncrossed her legs. She leaned up, pretending to be actually interested in what he was saying, though it was more or less to help stretch her back. She was going to have to move soon, but of course if she did in the middle of conversation people would think her rude.

Savanna fought back a sigh as her honey hazel eyes searched the faces before her as she periodically catching a glance of the television as she kept her ears tuned into the conversation. The current model walking down the run way was sporting some horribly designed dress the color of a road cone. It made Vanna wince slightly. That color was for noting other than the cones and road worker vest. Vaguely she listened to Deacon and Jim address the twins, which turned out they were not twins, but the same person. Jim had corrected Deacon about something, but the caramel colored woman didn’t care to catch it. She caught something come out of Aurelio. Sexual position? Did he really just blurt that out? Of course he did. He probably had no kind of filter on what came out of his mouth, blurting out what ever came to mind.

Already Vanna was getting a grasp of how some of these people worked. Jim just seemed quiet, Aurelio liked to talk, a lot, the boy or boys, Emry turned out to be their names, were out right crazy, they even had the medication to prove it. Deacon and Skylar were the only ones she hadn’t figured anything out about yet. At least the duplicates had figured out which one was the real one, which she didn’t understand.
"So you two don’t have like telepathy or something? Especially considering you’re the same person, or a variation of?" Something like that would have helped them at least, what with the central being, being able to control the other, rather than having the other act as a completely different entity.

After the question, Savanna looked back to Skylar, not even expecting an answer from the two boys.
"You have very shape to your face, especially the cheek bones." She said, wondering how different shades of blush would play off of them. She wondered if the woman had ever experimented with the different dramatic looks you could get with it. Her brows creased for a moment. "How do you like shopping?" She asked. Maybe, just maybe this woman could be her new shopping partner, or at the very least a model for Vanna to play around with.
