Ren is my new OC and Sachiko's partner/lover- http://fav.me/d4i6hvjHair-Dark Blond Eyes-Dark Brown Blood Type-O Birthday January 23rd Clan-Shimizu Gender-Biological Female Elements-Water Fighting Style-Ninjutsu Weakness-Genjutsu Type-Sensor Nin/Oinin Personality-Though they can be shy and quiet at times, Ren usually have a smile on her face. Story-Ren was born in a small village in Water Country. Her parents were ninja, they decided on being civilians instead. Ren was often bored, looking for an adventures. She is an only child and her parents were hoping to have a son to carry on the family name and trade. Feeling she disappointed them, she decided to act and dress as a boy. She soon found out she was actually happy pretending to be a boy but still didn't want to stay in the small village. Eventually she was allowed to stay in the mist village to train to become a ninja. Ren didn't really had a lot of friends, but tried to lot let that bother her. Most people thought she was a very effeminate boy (the name can be for boys and girls) and Ren never bother telling them the truth. Later, she started to fall for the wild blued hair girl, Sachiko. Sachiko was a bit mean to Ren at first (well Sachiko just seems to be harsh on a lot of people). Eventually she started to warm up to Ren and became friends but Ren still never confessed her feels or tell the to Sachiko out of fear. Sachiko actually started develop feels for Ren and was the first one to confess. No longer wanting to hide the truth from Sachi, she finally confessed. Sachi excepted the truth eventually and they been together since. This just a basic idea I have, feel free to tell me what you think and review it. Been trying to work on Ren for the past week or so and need to work on a proper bio and reference sheet later. I probably won't write a story unless people seemed interested in it.

This may be a challenge as this is the first character I made that is technically transgender and I don't want her to seem like a joke or insensitive.
I felt that Ren is perfect for Sachiko and not a type of character you see too often that isn't used for humor. I am looking into research, but advice would be appreciated. Her story my change as I don't want it to be lame.
It seems that a lot of transgender to feel like themselves as the gender they were born as. Many seem confused, struggle with it and feel happier being who they think they should of been born as.
I am not doing to this to make fun of anyone for any reason, that is never my intention. Also I found a stamp on DA that was just offensive. I get it is offensive and hurtful to fake something (disability of any kind, pretending to be gay, etc...) just for attention or a trend, but wishing harm on them is never the answer either. I can't be the only one to want to educate people to understand what is it like.
People often fear, hate or make of something that they don't understand. Helping people to understand will help lessen it. Sure some people are just jerks but some people many not know what they did or say was wrong or why.
I am female with many issues and way too much hormones-Testosterone and always had a hard time fitting in. I been called pretty much everything you can think of. Hell I had doctors ask my parents if I was retard (yes they said that) when I was little and my own mom just told me I was useless the other day because I was in pain and feeling sick again because of my health issues and couldn't go to class. I had girls call me lesbian at the mall and sneer at me when they never even met me before or people assume I am some druggy because of my eyes. It is never fun. Going out and living in fear makes life so much harder. I get what it like, even if the situation is different and though I get angry, fighting and wishing harm on people makes things worse, never better. Trust me, I made situations worse and gotten into trouble because I gotten into fights with people.
Sorry for the mini rant, I just don't agree with wanting to injure people. Personally I just think it is better to get them to see and understand what it is like to struggle. I think educating, spreading awareness, supporting people and acceptance is the way to go.
By the way, almost everyone and everything is objectified now (I always hear people say that and act as if they are the only ones). Women seem to get it worse, especially in other countries. I had people think it was o.k. to touch me or say inappropriate things just because they think they can and just because of my gender. Just saying.

Before I can complete or even really work on Ren's bio and ref sheet, I need to make some decisions.
I need to decided on whether or not Ren is FTM or MTF (female to male or male to female transgender) and all the feelings that go along with that. Also whether or not Ren just dresses and acts the part and bind (if female to male) or would want to go through the full transition with surgery and hormone treatment.
I also need to decided when Ren and Sachiko met and how she feels. I want to make it realistic and the character respectable to the GLBT community.
Either way, I feel that Ren would like girls. Sachiko already seemed to like effeminate men, so I don't think it would bother her.

This is what I came up with so far, please tell me what you think. Still needs some work.
General information
Name: Ren Shimizu Nickname: N/A Clan: Shimizu Gender: Born as a biological female but sees themselves as a male and considers themselves as a guy (transgender). Age: Birth date: January 23rd Blood Type: O Sexuality/Orientation: Likes girls Kekkei Genkai: N/A Family (parents, siblings, children, other relatives, alive or deceased): Mom and dad (don't have names for them yet) Village: Mist Jinchuriki: N/A Current location: Mist village Organization: N/A Affiliations: Mist ninja Rank: Oinin Registration ID: Chakra affinitives: water Ninja fighting style:ninjutsu Team: N/A Weapons: Sais and metal chains Skills: Sensory skills, can sense chakra of otgers Strengths: Ninjutsu, sensing chakra Weaknesses: Genjutsu Personality: Affectionate towards, tries to to keep a smile on his face, got a sense of humor and can be silly at times, shy, laid back unless in battle. Fun loving. Likes: Dislikes: Being forced to wear dresses and how people view the gender role. Rude people Fears: That people would see him the same way or would let people down. Also afraid people would hate him if they Goals/Dreams: Habits (good or bad): likes to sleep in Hobbies: Cooking, quite the chef. Background/history: Born in a small village in Water Country to a family that were civilians instead of ninja. The family made and sold ink (the kind that is used for Japanese and Chinese writing). Ever since Ren was little, she want to become a ninja and live a life of adventure and excitement instead of the working in the family business. Ren is an only child and never really felt comfortable as a girl. Ren though of himself as a male ever since at a young age and hated to wear skirts or dresses. Ren's parents had a bit of a hard time understand but tried their best to accept Ren. Ren had a hard time fitting in and tried to keep the fact that he was actually a female from other kids his age. Eventually Ren went to stay at the mist village. Later Ren started to have feelings for a wavy blue haired girl named Sachiko. Sachiko was a bit cold and rude to Ren at first as she is like that towards most people, but eventually starts to warm up to him over time and became friends. Ren was scared to tell Sachiko the truth and confess his feelings but decided he couldn't hide it for every and one day told Sachiko. Summons: Relationships/love interest: Sachiko
Appearances
Hair color: Dark Blond Eye color: Dark Brown Body type: Thin and not very muscular. Petite Weight: 112 pounds Height:5'4" or 162 cm Pierces or Tattoos: Two piercings on each ear Distinctive features: Style of clothing: Tends to wear baggy clothing. Usually a sweatshirt or sweater with shorts or pants.
Extra/miscellaneous (friends, enemies, etc...anything that hasn't been mentioned): I refer Ren as a he even though they were born as a woman as Ren never saw himself as a girl, thinking he should of been born as a boy and struggled with his feelings and body and wants to be seen as such. I am doing research and trying to make Ren a respectable and realistic character and many transgendered people refer themselves as they gender that believe they should be.
I really don't want to call Ren a trap or reverse trap as it doesn't seem like the proper term, but I guess you can think Ren as a trap.

Wow, I didn't realize this, but the last name Shimizu means 清水 pure water. LOL it is really fitting. I just found a list and picked that name because it sounded cool. Maybe I'll try making a clan symbol.
I guess I am doing fine on my own, so since nobody said anything, I will just keep Ren as is.

In the sample reference sheet, I fixed up the shading and coloring. So, what do you think? I been working hard and continue to do so as this, my final and secret santa pic will be my main focus before vacation.
I like how Ren is turning out overall. I am having a hell of a time with the real reference sheet though, my computer keeps corrupting and changing the files. Just a few more days until I get my laptop. emo

Dyzzi Ahaha. Some of our OCs share last names. Glad they're not in the same canon. ^^ LOL really? Sorry, I try to do research and look up a list of names and meanings or in the case of Sayuri and Kotori, I was inspired by Memoirs Of A Geisha, Trauma Team and X. I try not to make them similar or the same, but it happens (usually the meanings are different but spelling is similar). I changed a lot of the characters names to avoid have the same name as others. xd I don't think there are many red head Uchiha's named Kotori (though someone was giving me a hard time about her having red hair. They also need to learn about genetics and how at times it is like the lotto and in manga, it doesn't matter as much what genes are dominate or not unless wanting it to be completely random. Most of mine follow that rule anyways, which is why they tend to look more like one parent). I have fun making them different yet believe, just like people in real life. 3nodding

I think I've seen some others of ours share names. I think either great minds think alike, or I just pick really common names. x'D Rakuto and Ren are very different. I think it would be kind of funny if Rakuto was a Naruto OC, because he and Ren would probably hate each other. xD

In order to have them fit in, they have to interact with others or it just seems odd. I laugh when people say it's fine as long as they don't interact with characters but to me it makes them fit in even less, as if they don't belong in that world which makes someone stand out a lot more. It's like they are randomly there for no reason. Kind of defeats the purpose of creating a character for an existing series and they would seem more like a prop. sweatdrop The key is to make them believable, even though they don't exist. When people watch movies or read stories, they don't think about them not existing but they that do exist for that moment. The best characters are the ones you can feel for and relate to in my opinion. It's a matter how you handle them and put them in the the series. To me though, a Mary-Sue is perfect and loved by all. I am pretty sure Kotori is hated by most, not very loved due to her uh situation. And they all have flaws, some major flaws and issues, especially Kotori. I say both, I tend to pick common names as there are only so many on the list and I tend to find a few that would seem fitting (for awhile, I was going with a bird/animal theme and I remembered some meaning of names from shows and movies) and narrow it down and possibly change it like multiple times. But hey, maybe we just have good taste. cool That or I am picking it subconsciously. LOL I know nothing about Rakuto, but that would be interest to see how they would interact with each other. xd

There can only be so many main characters in a show, and usually, the most interesting ones are not in the spotlight much, but maybe that's just me. I don't really like over-developing my anime-canon OCs because I like to imagine [blank] character as being in the series, and since I like mysterious characters with strong reputations and few appearances, I generally make my character as such. Mary-Sues, by definition, are any kind of self-insert character. Most of the time, they're liked by all, but there are a lot of Mary-sues who are the pathetic, dejected, woe-is-me type. Or the smart, hot one all the guys want and the girls hate, etc. I actually stole Shimizu as a last name from my IRL pal, Tomomi. xD Originally, Rakuto's last name was... bleh..can't remember...something really, really common, like Saito or Oda.

Ren would probably try to avoid him probably but Sachiko is a handful as well and can be a b***h, so Ren could probably deal with Rakuto, but may not really want to deal with two bitchy people though. xd To be honest, I don't really read many fanfics with others OCs in it or fanfics in general as in my experience, most are poorly done with few exceptions (that and as I said, I am a visual and detail oriented person, so I usually pay more attention to art and profiles than stories, including my own. lol I am more likely to read comics.) But out of the spotlight seems so boring, I would lose interest with my OCs fast. I am the opposite, no matter what they created for, I have to develop them and continue to do so. I give so many details that I would want them to seem like they are real humans. I am always thinking of something or changing their profiles, looks, etc....until I am completely satisfied. I have to know all the info about characters or it would drive me nuts. I lose interest if I can imagine what they are like or know their story. To me, mystery is only good is it is going to be revealed. Mystery is only to add suspense but if I don't by the end, I am greatly disappointed and lose interest completely. sweatdrop I would feel bad for my self-insert, they would be too depressing and bland and I would probably hate them. When I created Yuko, I just planned her to have Itachi. She was my first OC and at the time she was half assed as it was more for fun and I didn't care if other characters loved or hated her. She isn't the strongest, prettiest (though far from ugly lol. I probably should be more diverse with body types, but eh most anime characters aren't), smartest, etc...she had her strengths and weaknesses just like everyone else and that was it. Smart or hot don't bother me as I hate idiots and they are only good for humor, though only few would be geniuses or and people like hot characters as they visually appealing. Why do you think you rarely see any that are considered ugly? Anime and manga is a visual art, and since I tend to draw, I keep that in mind. I am more interest in drawing and making comics than writing and I know that sex sells so sex appeal is used. I have a character who's last name is Saito. I just searched Japanese last names and look at the list and see what sounds fitting. Well Yuko is an exception, her last name is a play on word for doll doctor as I couldn't think of anything. I don't even know where the name Yuko came from, I think from a Japanese book I have and just liked the name. At the time, I didn't know any characters with that name.
