Name: Apceros
Type: Herbivore
Average height(length)/ weight: 60in at shoulder, 80in top of shell / 600-800lbs
Habitat: Normally, they can only be found in hot areas like Deserts and Volcanoes
Nature: Unusually aggressive for an herbivore; small herds of Apceros often will try to defend themselves from predators, and occasionally hunters. Apceros are much more territorial than other large grazing animals often never migrating, and attempting to dominate a small pasture. They are extremely protective of their eggs, a frequent meal for predators such as Genprey. This over-aggressive nature may deter small threats, such as raptors, but will do little to stop the might of desert hunters such as Tigrex. Apceros are known to be especially aggressive during mating season, as males will duel one another.
Capabilities: They are equipped for dealing with predators, sporting thick armor plates on their heads and backs, as well as spiked, club-like tails for defense. They of all herbivores stand a chance to repel large predators, as the effort to catch a meal is much more difficult.
Physical traits: Apceros' broad, short, beaked mouth is very efficient at uprooting shrubs and bushes, the Apceros' main food source. The creature's gizzard contains desert rocks selected specifically to help with digestion by grinding plant matter before it enters the stomach.
Common facts and lore: When provoked, an Apceros will slowly close in on a hunter, until they are close enough to headbutt or tail swipe. This can be highly annoying while trying to hunt a larger, more dangerous monster, as it limits the hunters' ability to move. It may seem, they are in a natural alliance with beasts, when in fact they are only trying to 'push' the conflict elsewhere, away from their nest.
