Name: Altaroth
Type: Neopteron
Average height(length)/ weight: 2-3ft / 30lbs
Habitat: They are largely adaptable and can be found in any number of forests throughout the world. Whether it by amongst the hills, in the alpine tundra, or the base of volcanoes. If there is earth, there is Altaroth.
Nature: Smaller Altaroth will not attack unless one other of their kind has been attacked. The larger ones, however, will attack as soon as they spot a hunter and order the rest of the swarm to attack as well. They will burrow at the base of trees and rocks, creating a small network with other colonies above ground. They traverse in small packs and preform a ritual of trading small effects of natural origin from their abdomens with the colonies in the network.
Capabilities: They can shoot a greenish-yellowish liquid from their abdomens, which will inflict a temporary numbing effect to the skin. It is often fully numbing to small creatures. They wield powerful jaws in both for digging, eating, and defense.
Physical traits: An interesting note about the Altaroth is that they can absorb mushrooms, berries, and other resources into the sac on their abdomen. These objects are either brought to their colony, or others for trading in a sort of treatise act.
Common facts and lore: Altaroth may also climb up vines and rough rock walls, much like hunters. Altaroth are at the very bottom of the food chain, even lower than Aptonoth. They are the primary food for several more intelligent species of wyverns, who eat them to regain vigor during battle, or retreat. The foundings of this act are unknown. It may have to do with their metabolism.
