His clan was distant relatives to the Uzamaki Clan.

Background Information:
Trigger has lived his entire life in the cloud village. Even when missions required him to leave his village for long periods of time he never considered not going back. His clan was wiped out by a tailed beast since it was common for Samsara's to try and capture the beasts with their power. He was lucky enough to be out on a mission the day they were wiped out. That was also the same day the village had its first real high level of destruction in centuries. Among the rubble he was able to find the scrolls pertaining to his Kekkei Genkai. Only once he obtained his Kekkei Genkai would he be able to read the scrolls.
By the time he was 20 he had made it into the lower ranks of the Anbu in his village. He had become great friends with a guy named Warren during the time he was apart of the Anbu. Trigger, Warren and two others were on a secret mission and during the mission Warren ended up being poisoned. There wasn't time to get him back to the village and none of them in group had a high enough skill level in medical jutsu, since the poison was very rare. The poison effect was painful and it hurt Trigger to see his friend in such pain, with a single sentence Warren gave Trigger the okay. He hesitated for a moment then composed himself and took Warrens life. The group agreed that was the best decision for Warren. That moment was when his Rinnegan awakened, he was 23 then.
By the time he was 26 he had become one of the Sanin for his village. His abilities had grown quickly because of his Rinnegan and the training he went through. Now that he was training under the previous Raikage his training tripled. When it came time to choose another Raikage he was chosen and by that time he was 29. His first task as Raikage was something he chose for himself. When he had free time he would seek out and capture a tailed beast.
