This is the current anime that I am currently addicted...
What do you think of Chihayafuru?

I think it's great. I was already somewhat familiar with karuta before I watched it because I played it once in my college's Japan Club at one of their club meetings, but the anime made me understand it even more. Also, you learn a little bit about Japanese history. I mean, in episode 3, Kanade goes on and on about the history of karuta in the courts. I thought that was interesting.

And I love the characters, especially Chihaya, Taichi, and Arata. I'm sort of torn between being a ChihayaxTaichi and ChihayaxTaichi shipper.

I was involved for 2 years. But I haven't been to their club meetings lately since all they've done lately is meet up at a coffee place across the street from school and study, and since I'm not in a Japanese language class until next semester (going into my 4th year of Japanese), I don't have a reason for going to the study group meetings.

Yes. All karuta cards are in Japanese. There's no such thing as karuta in English. Most members of Japan Club are familiar with the Japanese language and have taken at least a year of beginning Japanese.

The Hundred Poems were written during the Kamakura Period in Japan. I thought that was interesting since I'm learning about the Kamakura Period in my East Asian Civilization class in college.

I went to your thread...and in your first GIF, I was so tense in that moment...thinking whether taichi will hold chihaya's hand or not...and then, ARATA!!!...
All I can say in that moment was...amazing LOVE TRIANGLE.
It's still going every week. you can watch it in Crunchyroll, and if you want to watch the episode 8 and not a member you can go Here

This series has a beautiful art style, well written characters, and a very engaging story. I'm excited for the next episode.

Seriously? No sympathy for Taichi? I'm rooting for him because I know his situation all too well.

I like Arata, for myself.

I like taichi x Chihaya....
Taichi cares a lot for Chihaya so I think he deserves her...
