Laurana hummed to herself as she looked around at the trees and bushes she passed. They all looked so creepy when the sun went down. Moonlight glinted off her golden bangles as she stepped out of the tree line and looked around. Well this was a strange bit of the land she hadn't seen yet.
The waves of the ocean roiled beneath him, crashing on the rocks and sending spray into the air. He wouldn't have heard the sound of another's approach if it hadn't been for the slight jingle of metal. Lifting his heavy head he peered into the darkness with his ruby eyes. "Who goes there?" He enquired patiently.
She stopped in her tracks and peered around. "Um... Hello?" Her eyes strained so she could see who had spoken. Offering a smile regardless, she took a step closer. "I don't mean to intrude or anything. I was just taking a walk and I got a bit turned around... I'm Laurana by the way." Her voice was like a little bell. Bright and cheery with every word.
His large head came off the ground and he positioned his feet under him so at least he appeared to have a regal posture. Dragon's were known for such things and he would not let those standards slide. "You do not intrude m'lady." He responded, his tone grumbling yet delicate. He remained low to the ground not only because he was weak but because of his imposing size. "My name is Alahgri Dar Li Sun, though, I am often called Li Sun." He inclined his head in a greeting.
She couldn't help but to giggle and flutter her smal feathered wings. "It's a pleasure meeting you Li Sun.. though You kinda seem a bit sleep.. Are you sure I'm not intruding?"
Wrapping his tail about himself he smiled at her laugh. "My strength follows the sun, when it sinks below the horizon as does my strength." Building warmth within his breast he allowed a steady stream of flame to leave his throat and light a nearby bush so he may see better. "I am the dragon of the Sun." He added calmly. "It is my life force and my constant companion."
She squinted her eyes at the light and warmth of the fire that ignited the bush. "Ah, I see. I'm not usually out so late myself... I just got tired of feeling like the third wheel around my friend and his daughter..." She thought a moment. "But then I suppose he kinda likes haveing some one to talk to that doesn't insist in thinking she's a Bird....."
He listened as she spoke, always glad of hearing of the world he had woken up in. Having slept for a thousand years he had awoken confuzed and unusre of the world he was now living in. Any clues as to where he was and what was going on he was glad of. "Third wheel? A new expression I am new to." He smiled. "Though through context I know what it means." His eyelids lowered but he did not allow himself to fall asleep. "A bird? His daughter thinks of herself as a bird?"
She nodded glad he'd understood even if the expression was new to him. " She has since she hatched from her egg.. You see.. her mother.. well she's not the most... together mentally of critters there are... And her father.. he looks like a swan in colorations so I guess some of her mother's insanity rubbed off and she never shook the idea of her father's visual connection and thus never learned to speak outside of chirps, whistles and trills..."
Spreading his large wings so he may stretch he cocked his head at the story, obsorbing it with interest. "What inflicts the mother's mental state? Or is that something you are privy to?" He thought a moment of the plight of the offspring, but a smile came to his maw the more he thought. "She must be rather interesting to be around, a language of her own and a perception altered by the world around her."
"Simi? Oh no clue.. I don't think Ren much knows either.. Really she's not the kind of female Ren seems most prone to court." She chuckled some. "They found some berries and well.. from what I gather those things lead to the eggs they had." The thought of berries cauzing two critters to toss cautions to the wind usually made her giggle though she was able to keep that mostly stifled. "The only one who really understands her is her sister.. So it's not like Alu is all alone in the world."
He nodded in understanding. "There are those with the skill to identify such things though I have not come across many." He looked off into space as though in remembrance and chuckled. "Aye, I have heard of such herbal remedies leading to such things. I once had a similar experience.." Clearing his throat he cut himself off from oversharing and turned his attention back to the small female. "Mayhap they were meant to come together in order to bring those young ones into this world, no matter how unique. Truly fate had a hand in it." His chest rumbled as he thought of the sentimentality. "It is nice to have siblings who care."
She smiled a bit brighter. "What ever reason fate had to bring them here. Those four are like the light of the world for Ren." She frowned however at the mention of siblings. "I wouldn't know about the sibling thing though.. I was an only egg as far as I know.." She pondered a moment. "Either that or I was forgotten... I don't really know I rather hatched all alone."
"Mayhap that was the reason they were brought to this world, to bring joy and love to one another." He grinned but it faded to a more serious expression as she spoke of siblings. "Do you wish you had siblings?" Shaking his head he closed his eyes in thought. "I am sure you were not forgotten, something must have happened. No one took you in?"
She nodded agreeing with his suggestion on why Alu and her siblings managed to be brought into existence. "Ah... well sometimes I wish I did... Though I'm sure you're right.. I probably wasn't forgotten.. I had to rather take care of myself till Ren cam along when I was a young adult.. After that Ren sorta took care of me.. He says it baffled him how juvenile I was." She giggled lightly.
"I am glad you managed to meet someone to take care of you, no one should feel utterly alone and separated in this world. What did he mean by calling you juvenile?" He asked tenderly, engrossed in the topic. "I do not mean to pry."
She snickerd some. "I can be a bit... childish so to say sometimes.. though it's mostly because I light to play and have fun and my energy levle just seemed to baffle him."
"There is nothing wrong with that." He nodded with a smile. "To remain young at heart is to never age and grow feeble."
She gave a genuine smile. "I always said it was just more fun than being a stick in the mud."
"I couldn't agree more, though I am very old I still try to act as young as I feel. It helps to remind me of how wonderful life is."
Laurana flopped down on her belly. "Life's always bright when you keep an open mind. If I let every horrible thing make my mind grow dark then I'd likely not have the will to wake every morning." Her feathers gave a small rustle as she flattened them open out to her sides.
