Quote:
Laurana hummed to herself as she looked around at the trees and bushes she passed. They all looked so creepy when the sun went down. Moonlight glinted off her golden bangles as she stepped out of the tree line and looked around. Well this was a strange bit of the land she hadn't seen yet.

The waves of the ocean roiled beneath him, crashing on the rocks and sending spray into the air. He wouldn't have heard the sound of another's approach if it hadn't been for the slight jingle of metal. Lifting his heavy head he peered into the darkness with his ruby eyes. "Who goes there?" He enquired patiently.

She stopped in her tracks and peered around. "Um... Hello?" Her eyes strained so she could see who had spoken. Offering a smile regardless, she took a step closer. "I don't mean to intrude or anything. I was just taking a walk and I got a bit turned around... I'm Laurana by the way." Her voice was like a little bell. Bright and cheery with every word.

His large head came off the ground and he positioned his feet under him so at least he appeared to have a regal posture. Dragon's were known for such things and he would not let those standards slide. "You do not intrude m'lady." He responded, his tone grumbling yet delicate. He remained low to the ground not only because he was weak but because of his imposing size. "My name is Alahgri Dar Li Sun, though, I am often called Li Sun." He inclined his head in a greeting.

She couldn't help but to giggle and flutter her smal feathered wings. "It's a pleasure meeting you Li Sun.. though You kinda seem a bit sleep.. Are you sure I'm not intruding?"

Wrapping his tail about himself he smiled at her laugh. "My strength follows the sun, when it sinks below the horizon as does my strength." Building warmth within his breast he allowed a steady stream of flame to leave his throat and light a nearby bush so he may see better. "I am the dragon of the Sun." He added calmly. "It is my life force and my constant companion."

She squinted her eyes at the light and warmth of the fire that ignited the bush. "Ah, I see. I'm not usually out so late myself... I just got tired of feeling like the third wheel around my friend and his daughter..." She thought a moment. "But then I suppose he kinda likes haveing some one to talk to that doesn't insist in thinking she's a Bird....."

He listened as she spoke, always glad of hearing of the world he had woken up in. Having slept for a thousand years he had awoken confuzed and unusre of the world he was now living in. Any clues as to where he was and what was going on he was glad of. "Third wheel? A new expression I am new to." He smiled. "Though through context I know what it means." His eyelids lowered but he did not allow himself to fall asleep. "A bird? His daughter thinks of herself as a bird?"

She nodded glad he'd understood even if the expression was new to him. " She has since she hatched from her egg.. You see.. her mother.. well she's not the most... together mentally of critters there are... And her father.. he looks like a swan in colorations so I guess some of her mother's insanity rubbed off and she never shook the idea of her father's visual connection and thus never learned to speak outside of chirps, whistles and trills..."

Spreading his large wings so he may stretch he cocked his head at the story, obsorbing it with interest. "What inflicts the mother's mental state? Or is that something you are privy to?" He thought a moment of the plight of the offspring, but a smile came to his maw the more he thought. "She must be rather interesting to be around, a language of her own and a perception altered by the world around her."

"Simi? Oh no clue.. I don't think Ren much knows either.. Really she's not the kind of female Ren seems most prone to court." She chuckled some. "They found some berries and well.. from what I gather those things lead to the eggs they had." The thought of berries cauzing two critters to toss cautions to the wind usually made her giggle though she was able to keep that mostly stifled. "The only one who really understands her is her sister.. So it's not like Alu is all alone in the world."

He nodded in understanding. "There are those with the skill to identify such things though I have not come across many." He looked off into space as though in remembrance and chuckled. "Aye, I have heard of such herbal remedies leading to such things. I once had a similar experience.." Clearing his throat he cut himself off from oversharing and turned his attention back to the small female. "Mayhap they were meant to come together in order to bring those young ones into this world, no matter how unique. Truly fate had a hand in it." His chest rumbled as he thought of the sentimentality. "It is nice to have siblings who care."

She smiled a bit brighter. "What ever reason fate had to bring them here. Those four are like the light of the world for Ren." She frowned however at the mention of siblings. "I wouldn't know about the sibling thing though.. I was an only egg as far as I know.." She pondered a moment. "Either that or I was forgotten... I don't really know I rather hatched all alone."

"Mayhap that was the reason they were brought to this world, to bring joy and love to one another." He grinned but it faded to a more serious expression as she spoke of siblings. "Do you wish you had siblings?" Shaking his head he closed his eyes in thought. "I am sure you were not forgotten, something must have happened. No one took you in?"

She nodded agreeing with his suggestion on why Alu and her siblings managed to be brought into existence. "Ah... well sometimes I wish I did... Though I'm sure you're right.. I probably wasn't forgotten.. I had to rather take care of myself till Ren cam along when I was a young adult.. After that Ren sorta took care of me.. He says it baffled him how juvenile I was." She giggled lightly.

"I am glad you managed to meet someone to take care of you, no one should feel utterly alone and separated in this world. What did he mean by calling you juvenile?" He asked tenderly, engrossed in the topic. "I do not mean to pry."

She snickerd some. "I can be a bit... childish so to say sometimes.. though it's mostly because I light to play and have fun and my energy levle just seemed to baffle him."

"There is nothing wrong with that." He nodded with a smile. "To remain young at heart is to never age and grow feeble."

She gave a genuine smile. "I always said it was just more fun than being a stick in the mud."

"I couldn't agree more, though I am very old I still try to act as young as I feel. It helps to remind me of how wonderful life is."

Laurana flopped down on her belly. "Life's always bright when you keep an open mind. If I let every horrible thing make my mind grow dark then I'd likely not have the will to wake every morning." Her feathers gave a small rustle as she flattened them open out to her sides.

Even though she was relaxing he still remained in a regal posture, a holdover from lessons learned in his youth. Dragons were always proud and beautiful creatures, he would not slip up now. "It is a wonderful philosophy. Allowing only the negatives to rule your life would breed nothing short of a horrid existance."

She gave a small nod. "Yup" She watched him a moment. "Say, you know you don't have to be so..... stiff. I'm not going to bite you know... well.. I might occasionally gnaw and nibble.. but that's only towards those I've known a while.."

He smiled down at her before speaking gently. "Dragons are known for their posture and attitudes, it is merely how I was brought up and how I have been groomed to present myself." He chuckled. "I shall keep your gnawing and nibbling in mind just in case we become better aquainted in the future."

She chuckled lightly. "Why not just act how you yourself would prefer? why let others tell you what is or isn't? Dragon's aren't all so stuffy.. At least trai wasn't.. He's a bit flaky but he's friendly enough.. and always does his own thing for his own reasons." She giogled lightly. "All I mean though is that you should live your life how you would like too.. not let others push you to be a stick in the mud if that's really who you don't want to be."

Li Sun cocked his head as he listened to her. "Is that how you percieve my pride? Being stuffy and a 'stick in the mud?'" He questioned gently. Turning his head skyward as if looking to the sun he thought a moment. "I am who I wish to be, I carry the duty of a dragon quite seriously. I am glad he was able to break the mold but I prefer such an air of sophistication and wonder as I attempt to display. No one told me to be this way, simply told me of my ancestors and all they have achieved, as such I wish to conduct myself with dignity." Turning his large head back to her he smiled.

Laurana shrugged lightly. " I didn't mean to offend.. It's just.. ya know? so many seem to feel they were pressured just to be something because of what they are.. And it's just not right..."

He shook his head tenderly. "You did not offend, I was simply stating my view on the matter. Perhaps to one as young as yourself I would seem stuffy, but I was raised in a time far different from this one. I understand what you are saying about others feeling pressured, though, in some cases it can be a pressure they admire. Best not to assume that all who follow a mold are negatively forced to." His smile did not fade and his tone was light as he presented his message. "Sometimes following footsteps is a matter of pride and dignity."

Laurana nodded returning his smile. "I'll have to be sure I think it all through before such a tangit again..." With that, she hopped up and gave a small wiggle before pouncing him playfully. She was itching for a bit of friendly play time and all this talk was just making it harder to keep from such an outburst.

Li Sun flicked his tail in approval. "It is always good to attempt to think about all sides of an issue before proceeding. I often heard humans say, 'don't judge a book by it's cover,' it seems fitting here." He was not expecting to be tackled and didn't really know how to react. As a little one he often times found himself separated from his siblings and thus hadn't had an opportunity to play. Even so he chuckled lightly.

Laurana laughed lightly. " Sorry.. I'm often playful..." She batted at him lightly before finally slinking off him to sit just a small distance away and look at the moon. "I wish it was daytime.. The moon's pretty enough.. like a pearl plucked from the sky.. but still a pearl is cold and hard though often smooth.. The sun.. it's warm.. inviting.. happy it often makes me think that should it have been a living being... then it'd be playful."

He smiled. "Do not be sorry, just as you have learned something on this night, as have I." He straightened himself up but laughed at her final playful move. Li Sun turned his attention on the moon and sighed a little forlornly. "If only you could meet my sister, the moon is her specialty." He eyed the stars and continued. "My brother is of the stars, together we are the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars." He grinned. "I am too fond of the sun, it provides me with my energy." Returning so his gaze were on her once more he nodded. "I often times think the sun is alive, I think I hear it speaking."

"Speaking?" She chuckled lightly. "You're sounding a bit like Trai... He mourns the loss of them.. often going on and on about how they whispered to him and his crystaline looking winglets don't work down here.. so he slithers through the sky like what the humans call a chinese dragon..."

"Yes, or maybe not speaking, but sending feelings and thoughts through it's powerful rays." He returned his gaze to the night sky and again began to feel the toll of being awake at this time. "Is he happy here?"

"Trai? I suppose so.. He has 3 new egs to look after... They spontaneously showed up.. asthough the stars themselves saw his loneliness with stella's and granted them eggs of their own..." She chuckled lightly once more. "I can't wait to see what they all look like... "

His ruby eyes shifted as he focused on the fire he had produced earlier. "Young ones, those will definitely bring him company. Children are gifts to be treasured, that is for certain. The greatest wealth I ever found was an egg glittering gold." Shaking his head to remove himself from his haze he smiled. "I am sure they will be gorgeous."

"Oh?" she pryed a bit trying to sound a bit nonchalant. " then you have young ones of your own?"

He chuckled. "Observant you are, catching a dragon in one of his rare moments of lost composure. Indeed, I have a young one. I found his egg abandoned on one of my many adventures to discover this new world. He is hard headed but a caring male."

"I see... young ones... I'm sure they're a great delight. I rather miss hearing Ren's little ones playing." She smiled. It was a bit of her own weakness. She was immature and childish but her lack of family growing up had instilled a hole of her own, a want of her own some day and nothing be it heaven or earth would part her from them. "I'm sure in time I'll know the feeling.. " Her smile faltered only slightly before it was replaced by the genuine happy look she carried.

He chuckled. "They are at times, sometimes I don't quite know what to do with the lad. Well perhaps the new eggs of your friend will fill that silence." He noticed the brief change in her expression but saw fit not to comment on it. "I am sure you will as well."

Stifling a small yawn, she gave a nod. The fire's glowing warmth was a comfort.. the kind of comfort that tried to lull some one to sleep. "Perhaps.. What ever the cards of fate holds for me is what I'll find." SHe chuckled and wiggled in closer to him for the body heat. to trap herself beside body heat and fire glow and sprawled out. It was something she did with those she felt she could trust, like ren. Nap beside them and trust that they'd watch over her. Feathered fluff from her wings brushed against him only slightly as she situated herself and gave a small yawn. "I hope you don't mind to terribly much.. I don't think I could find my way back tonight.. I got a bit turned around and.. I don't like sleeping alone.." Actually she feared sleeping by herself.

Glancing off into the distance he responded. "I am sure the fates will be kind to one such as yourself." He was brought back when he felt her nearness. Many desired to keep at a distance from him due to his size and demeanor but she was a bold female. Rather than shifting or growing upset he smiled down on her as she grew comfortable. "Not at all, it would be an honor for a dragon to guard a fair maiden." He chuckled, bringing his tail around her. "Once morning comes I am sure the light of the sun will lead you home."

She smiled fondly as she curled up and rested her head on his tail as though it were a pillow. "Either that or Ren will come to find me..." Her eyes drifted shut lazily. "Li Sun... After we part.. Can we meet again in the daytime? And possibly be friends?" She gave another yawn as her beating drifted more and more evenly as sleep took it's hold.

He remained still so as not to disturb her but looked at the moon above, thinking of his fair sister and wonderful brother. "I am sure you will be missed." His head turned as he heard his name. "I would like that, mayhap you could tell me more about the time in which I have awoken. I would enjoy having more friends." Once she fell asleep he lowered his own head to the ground, allowing for his zapped strength to claim his body and pull him into sleep.
