Tierra:Planet of Nations

~*~

Tierra: Planet of Nations is a nation roleplaying game where national entities, not individual people, are the main focus. From conquest of the polar regions to border skirmishes along river banks, and from strategic commodities to nuclear proliferation; Tierra offers the serious roleplayer an opportunity to interact with other fellow nations through warfare, treaties, tributary systems, and more! Feel like improving the lives of your citizens? Boost your education funding into the roof! Feeling like the borders of your nation are becoming increasingly restricted? Launch a tank-offensive into neighboring lands for territory! Tierra: Planet of Nations is an alternate-Earth ripe with rainforests, deserts, and all terrain between the two extremes.

Rules & Recommendations

~*~

Love them, despise them, or care less of them; rules are existent for a reason: To promote a sense of community among members by promoting positive attitudes. Thus, the guild hereby requests that all members:

- Maintain their best literacy level possible when roleplaying
- Keep cyber-sex to another website or, better yet, to an alternate medium.
- Refrain from tech-wanking one's army to the point that it is indestructible.

"Tech-wanking" refers to giving unusually-advanced, exotic, or otherwise unavailable technology to military and or civilian forces. Bear in mind that the IC date is within the present-day, so.... Keep the technology modern-tech if possible. Nations with a DARPA-like network, whether constructed through roleplaying or what not, should be reminded that post-modern prototypes are just that: Prototypes. Do not try to retrofit all Marines with 50-cal laser cannons "just cuz I got a l33ter military r&d pr0gr@m than u."

This rule also applies to nuclear weapons and such. A nation with 300 million citizens and a solid-ground economy can ICily expect to sustain a sizable arsenal of perhaps hundreds of warheads. A fragile banana republic of only 3 thousand citizens, on the other hand, will be expected to struggle under the burden of maintaining even just one nuclear weapon. Keep all strategic and tactical forces in check, and one will do just fine. smile

- Regarding profanity.... Honestly, we don't give a Finland Denmark whether you cuss or not. However, please be modest in one's use of language; remember that there are late teenagers and young adults sensitive to excessive profanity / yelling...

- Guild mods reserve the right to demand a "factbook review" should one be suspected of god-moding. What this means is that the suspected power-player will be required to amend his or her nation profile or else they risk being banned from the Guild. We shall not tolerate god-moders in the slightest bit, for all-powerful nations would just make the guild pointless to roleplay in.

There are no claims right now! Come and define one's boundaries before it is crowded! wink

To apply to be added to the map, one must have a profile submitted in the factbook subforum. Though by no means difficult to be approved, it is suggested that a factbook contains a nation's population number, estimated public expenditures, etc. to convince a moderator that one's nation is completely reasonable. Do not be an Austria-hole and claim an entire continent, however. talk2hand Keep all land claims reasonable and considerate.

This does not mean, however, that one cannot expand from their territory. razz If one wages war against an entire region on one of the continents and manages to occupy all nation-states with high-quality roleplay.... It's fair game! We only ask that one keeps initial land holdings as small as if they recently banded together several villages into one cohesive republic.
