I just moved down to LA and EVERYONE down here wears pointy shoes. I don't know if they went into style right after I moved, or if it's a SoCal thing, or if the area I came from is just not cool enough to know that Pointy Shoes are a Good Thing, but... really.
Why?
What's the point?
I have small feet, I'm proud of it. Why would I want to make them look huge and pointy?
What am I missing? sweatdrop

Note: Don't get me wrong. I love heels. But isn't a round toe cuter, more flattering, and more comfortable? Just like overly-baggy pants, I completely fail to see the appeal in point shoes. I'm not saying a small point is a bad thing, but when it is adding inches to the length of your foot...

a round toe is ALOT cuter in my mind. I also have a foot that doesn't work well for pointy shoes (aka for pointy shoes its best if your second toe is longest...mines not i'm normal)(don't worry i love all you funny toed people) anyway i don't get it...they were leaving there for a while but they are still everywhere...just don't fall into the trend...they are creepy and make you look like big foot if your feet are already average +

i think they look pretty good sometimes on certain people. I've never really tried to wear them, now that i think about it, but i dont think i would like wearing them very much. they seem like they would hurt an average footed person like me. sweatdrop

Pointy shoes make peoples' feet look like skiis, in my opinion.

I really don't like them. Oddly, they look really good on me, but I like rounder points better. My cousin (my roommate too) wears all the time, but I just don't think they're that pretty... confused

I think given the right look and outfit they'd be cute, but I dont like them AT ALL.

I prefer rounded toes, like the ballet flats and cute stuff like that

I love pointy toe shoes! I love the wear them with pants so you only see the front part of the shoe. But I think they are cute! I like rounder toe shoes, when I want to look simple and cute. But pointy toe is for my more sophisticated looks. 3nodding

What's feminine about HUGE POINTY STABBY SHOES? roundness has always been part of the traditional feminine image. Think hourglass figure. Round. Curves.
I don't think it's very sophisticated to have huge shoes that add 5" to the length of your shoe... how do you even climb stairs in those? They'd make your feet considerably longer than the average stair width...
Sorry... pointy shoes are just a personal pet peeve of mine. I really don't get it. Do you really think they look sophisticated or is it just because they are quite often part of a popular look or something worn by big name stars that pointy shoes have become viewed as sophisticated?
Pretend that made sense.
It was a question about personal opinion as opposed to the perceived attributes assigned to it by society. (*cough* admittedly I had to get a friend's help wording that. Although his exact words were, "the perceived attributes forced upon it by a society that values those who are willing to inflict pain on themselves for the sake of fashion over those who enjoy comfort." XD)

I think that the people who say heels or any kind of dress shoe is painful or uncomfortable, hasn;t tried it before, or doesn't know how to pick out a shoe that really fits.

Have you ever tried to wear pointed toe shoes, that you had fitted for you? Because they don't add 5" inches to your foot, you can walk up stairs in them, all of them don't have super pointy toes, they can look sophisticated, and they aren't painful. Seriously if you know when, how, and what to wear them with they can look good.

But I guess since they are just really dumb to you, they'll always just be an ugly stupid shoe. stare

And the media has no effect on what I like and what I don't like. Ofcourse new things can always be introduced to me by the media and I may take a liking to them. But I would never think something looks good only because celebs wear them. Shoot, celebs wear some of the ugliest thing sometimes.

I agree, I think that pointy shoes are nice. I don't own any, but I love them, they do look sophisicated to me, also if you have a size 6 or 7 shoe it looks very nice. They look great with slacks and jeans as well as knee length skirts and dresses, they accentuate people's legs very nicely. I think the way that you stand in shoes like that pulls diffrent muscles than other normal shoes, and thus make your legs look much more fit. (And we all like fit legs! whee )

So thats my take on the shoes. But don't get me wrong, I love round toes (they look good on my feet) I am absolutly lusting over Marc Jacobs and Gucci round toes. xp

I really don't like pointed toe shoes XD. I love round toed shoes, they're really pretty and feminine, but pointy shoes just make your feet look huge (especially the pointy flats o.o; ). And, from a guy's perspective, my boyfriend thinks that they look rather stupid and ugly XD.
