Who should Kyou be with? That's a question I've pondered for a while. Tohru and Kyou would be an obvious match for he feels comfortable enough around him to be his true self. Though my vote would have to go to a relationship between Kagura and Kyou. I've admired Kagura since I first saw her character she loves Kyou deeply just expresses it differently. I believe with some work on Kagura's part on her temper and Kyou's on his they could love each other in time. Plus you stick Tohru with Yuki and no one misses out. ^^ Oh also it has not been determined who ends up with Tohru yet though there is a certain person who is currently catching Yuki's attention.

I like him with Tohru, but I really like Yuki with Tohru.

I would love it if he was with Kagura. Honestly. She loves him. Her attitude shows a violent woman, but in the manga, when she thinks about him, she's so warm and peacful. The anime does not represent Kagura well. She is much more mature and loving in the manga. Manga=Original=True Story!

I could REALLY see him being with Ou. They act like the type of kids who grow more mature and would end up together. I find it quite cute, actually.

Him being single would make me vomit. All the fan girls would say he's with them. That is why he must not be single. I repeat, HE MUST NOT be single! ACKK! *shivers*

Well, Kyo hates a lot of people because of lack of socialbility. In Vol 1, chapter 3, Shigure tells Kyo about socializing, and love. Kyo is very inexpirienced; hence, anything could happen!

*This is an extreme spoiler for american readers!* In a later volume, Yuki admits he has love for Tohru in an odd wording while talking to Haru. This is around the time Haru meantions his relationship with Rin. This also meantions Rin's begging Shigure for information. She bribes him with her body. I will NOT reveal how Shigure reacts. (you can PM me if you wish) Point is, Yuki expresses a loving emotion Towards Tohru, more than a mother figure.

The chemestry of Kagura and Yuki could never work. If it did, it would take complete changes of both characters.

Anyway, both Kyo and Yuki love Tohru; so it's fair game, until they stary playing dirty!

Oh, sorry, this is another spoiler: Kyo does not admit he loves Tohru for a long time. In Vol 7, or the last episode, he says he wants to be with her, "Together", but in literal tranlsation Japanese, he said he wants to be with her as in the same place, not together as in a relationship. Though, he did wish to spend the next year with her on new years, meantioning he has admitted liking her to himself.

Erm, more spoilers about Yuki though from even farther in the manga. One of my other good Gaian friends is C Chan who frequented the Endless Fruits Basket manga thread and kept up with the latest Hana to Yume chapters before she started work. She checks up on Gaia every now and then though, but yes anyway (highlight to read) Yuki says in later chapters that he actually thinks of Tohru as more of a mother figure. Machi also enters the picture in more recent chapters and there's some speculation that Yuki and Machi could actually end up a pair, but a lot of fans actually seem to really hate Machi because they don't like how she treats Yuki. She's kind of like a child or something. She's like the girl that chases a boy around the schoolyard because she's in denial about actually liking him. That was my impression of her from what I heard from my friends keeping up with the latest chapters.

With that out of the way though, I think in general people put too much emphasis on who should be with who in Fruits Basket. One of the most touching and heartwrenching things is simply Touru's friendship with all of the Souma and particularly Kyou and Yuki. Regardless of what happens romantically, the three I would hope are still friends at the end.

I hate to say Tohru because I hate Tohru, but Kyo likes her so much, and if he's happy, I'm happy... and they look cute together. *washes mouth out with soap* stressed I can't believe I just said that out loud!

Kyou should definitely be with Tohru...one of my all-time favorite scenes (takes place fairly early in the manga) is when Kyou and Tohru go searching for Momiji and Haru, and two guys see Tohru and start talking about her...and Kyou goes up to her, slams his fist against the wall and gives the two a death glare. *shivers* Oooh, it makes my heart melt every time... heart

Personally, I think Kyou needs Tohru the most. Think about it -- all that time with Kagura, and he never changed. But a year with Tohru, and his cold heart starts melting. When Kagura's being serious, Kyou is touched by her warmth, sure...but she never affected his relationship with Yuki. In the course of what, a year? Tohru gets Kyou to open up to her and subconsciously even helps him improve his relationships with other people. He needs her, and it's obvious how much he loves her.
