Barkstar slipped out of his den, quickly lifting his head to look at the sky seeing it was a pretty clear day. He turned his gaze to the young Cherrypaw who was sitting by the apprentice's den alone, most of the apprentices had already left with their mentor's. Cherrypaw's mentor had died recently after thorwing Darkclaw off the cliff into the river, she still had no mentor.

Cherrypaw looked down at her paws from where she was, trying to get the other apprentice's words out of her mind. How they called her a Traitor, Half clan and many more harsh names that she was starting to learn to ignore. She laid on her stomach, moving her tail to her side and buried her head into her paws.

Skylight fussed about, unable to sit down.
"You're making me dizzy." Nightcloud purred, trying to stand. It was very difficult with her belly the size of a badger, but she accepted her mate's help gratefully. She stopped him from asking if she wanted this or that, or offering to get her anything. She was tired of the nursery, and needed some fresh air. She lumbered out, blinking in the warm sunshine. Spotting the small apprentice, she glanced towards her mate. "Ah, what's wrong with her?"
"Her father, the murders, the attention she's been getting..." He was patient, since poor Nightcloud had been sitting inside for so long; always slow to rise with the weight that would soon be released. He knew her mind would be slightly foggy until she had gotten something fresh to eat.
"You shouldn't be walking about like this, you could give birth at any moment." Gooseberry stepped forth, paused in his daily routine. His paw was still poised in the air, ready to step down, and his mouth was filled with a light white herb.
She purred again, a light smile playing about her furry lips. "I'm amazed at how much you think you know for someone who's never had kits. I'm sure I'll know when the time comes; as will all the Clans. You know, the screaming, the pains? I won't wander far." She added, and when he shook his head fitfully she meowed before he could lecture her. "I'm a grown she-cat, but to put your mind at ease I'll get something to eat and then go right back into that stuffy place, alright?" Without waiting for an answer, she padded towards the freshkill pile and began to nose around for a good peice. Finding a juicy frog, she approved it and then popped back into the nursery after dismissing Skylight with a light request to shoo him away; "Go cheer up Cherrypaw; get some fresh water for me and bring her along."
Scurrying into the medicine cat's den he rammned into Gooseberry's rear, but took no heed in his swiping or light curses as he took some moss and bolted out. Dropping it at the apprentice's feet, he blinked. "Cherrypaw, can you help me get some fresh water for Nightcloud?"

Cherrypaw heard something land infornt of her and flintched her fur prickled but quickly went back down hearing it was Skylight. "S-sure." She stammered before getting to her paws and picking up the moss feeling needed for once.

Barkstar watched the apprentice before turning to see Gooseberry then Nightcloud go back into the nursey. "Everything is so calm since Darkclaw died." He meowed to himself fixing his pelt into place before playing down on his stomache in the sun.

"Sometimes death is the only way peace can be brought upon the Clans." Gooseberry meowed briskly before padding away to search for more Burdock Root. When he came back moments later, his mouth was empty. He seemed thoughtful as his tail thumped gently against the ground. His ears twitched, and he hustled away again. When he came back a few minutes later, he had a great deal of various herbs upon his back, all held in place by a few long reeds he had carefully slipped on. They were being held together by mud for now, but the adhesive scattered away, and all the herbs dropped. Grumbling, he at least had an idea how to transport herbs in multitude; he just needed to improve a few things. He gathered up a bundle, and ducked inside his den. He came back out for more of his package, and continued until all the fallen herbs were placed into his stores properly. He selected some choicy bits of food, and some poppy seeds, and brought them to the elders. It was a nice, though busy, day to be a medicine cat!
He nodded thankfully, and ducked into Gooseberry's den while he was out, and stole some more moss. He padded back towards her, and then out the camp's entrance. Skylight led the way to a freshwater source, trying to talk, but realizing the moss was preventing him from meowing anything intelligent. Upon reaching a large oak, still wet with the early morning dew, he placed the moss along the roots and watched it soak up the liquid greedily. "Now that I have an empty mouth, how've you been? You don't look well, you should eat more. Nightcloud is always saying how much kits are supposed to eat-do you suppose she'll be okay?" It was a question he often asked, and many of his fellow clanmates were getting a little irritated with him; though they still replied as always. Either they'd make fun of him, or joke, or reassure him that everything was fine...But still, he couldn't help but worry about his mate when she was so close to kitting.

Barkstar nodded in agreement with Gooseberry, but something inside him told him that Darkclaw wasn't dead since they had never found the body and no other clan reported at the gathering of finding a shadowclan body either.

Cherrypaw did the same as Skylight placing the moss in the water before looking at him, "I've been alright." She meowed her tail wrapping around her fornt paws knowing she was lying, having almost everyone hate you did a lot to you're self-esteem and willingness to work. "Nightcloud should be ok, she is strong enough to probably have another litter if she wanted." She meowed trying to get the tom to laugh because his mate did seem really stubborn at times but that could be said about most of the cats in the clan.

Nightcloud poked her head out. Once she found that the coast was clear, she quickly scurried to a warm patch of sunshine close to Barkstar. "Now that he's occupied with someone other than me, I think I'll join you. Sunshine doesn't last long in ShadowClan." She purred, settling down. "Something seems to be troubling you. Now, I know I'm just a queen, but you can still talk to me you know. I'm your Clanmate after all." While he was leader, he was still part of her Clan. He couldn't object to her being friendly, even if he could reject her offer.
He chuckled a little, his paws kneading the ground nervously. "I suppose you're right...But I still think you should eat more. I have no idea how to handle kits. You were a kit not too long ago, what was it like? What did you want?" He inquired, shaking out the moss. He realized it wasn't full enough, so he moved it to another spot and kept rolling it around with his careful, steady paws. He wasn't going to waste any part of any tendril.

Barkstar looked at Nightcloud with a sigh knowing she hadn't heard much news about what happened a moon ago. "The thought of Darkclaw still being alive is worrying me that is all." He meowed as he looked towards the entrance of camp.

Cherrypaw looked at him before flintching when he mentioned her being a kit, she was sure he didn't mean it but she didn't really have much of a family or kit-hood. "Uh.." She mewed looking at her paws trying to think of what to say. "I wanted to play a lot, be a brave warrior and get out of the nursey fast." She meowed finding that was what most of the other kits wanted, as for her she just wanted to be safe from her father.

Her pelt bristled and her tail thwacked against the ground in protest. "Well, if he is alive, I'll claw his eyes out--then we'll see just how long he lasts. I've heard how his poor daughter suffers from his wrongdoings. Hmph." She flicked her tail in irritation, then stretched out as the sun's beam changed position. She was like a sunflower. "I know you're probably not interested, but there are more things in life than worrying about one's enemies. Your Clan is growing," She laid her tail on her round belly, and then continued, "Your Clan is thriving. Kits play, apprentices need mentors, warriors are always getting too big-headed and need to be out-witted sometime in a good sport of fun. Cats are falling in love, and life is just pouring from every cat. You should find a mate, you know." She yawned. She had said it mundanly as if she had said, ''this mouse tastes great'', or ''this rock is oddly shaped.''

((Poor Cherrypaw, Skylight's really just too nervous lol))

Skylight nodded vigoursly, but then frowned. "Oh, dear. Playing is fine, but growing up too quick--I don't know how I'll handle that. Well, if you need anything you can come to me--you know that right? Even if I'm busy with all these scraps of new fur you can say, 'hey, Skylight, we need to talk.' And then I'll be there." He quickly added, seeing his moss was full. "You think this is plenty of water?" He motioned to both their bundles which were sopping wet.

Barkstar looked to the queen when she mentioned finding a mate but no one really interested him in his own clan, or at least he didn't talk to many she-cats other then the ones that came up to him. "Yes, we also have to be getting ready for the twolegs return to the lake since it is almost greenleaf." He meowed to mostly himself.

((xD))

Cherrypaw looked at him before putting the moss down next to her and squeezing some water out knowing it was too much for her to carry before picking it up in the mouth. "They will whine about wanting to explore outside of camp and sneak out or getting into the medicine den once in awhile, thats probably the most trouble they could get in." She mewed through the moss before starting to head back to camp.

"I suppose, but what if they wander and find some twoleg stuff? Or, what if they fall into a twoleg trap-or a hole?" He gasped, taking the moss hesitantly into his own mouth before padding after her. He silently kept thinking of horrible scenarios his kits could go through; the moss being the only thing standing in his way of voicing those thoughts.
"See? Besides, I think you're problem of who to chose as a mentor for Cherrypaw will soon be solved." She motioned towards the entrance, where Skylight scrambled through.
Skylight's mouth dropped open when he saw his mate. He wiggled over to her after picking up the moss again. "You said you'd be in the den!"
"I never said that. I'd said I'd go into that stuffy place after getting something to eat. I never once implicated I'd stay there." While he stood there, stuttering, she lapped up some of the water from the cool moss. It was refreshing, and helped soothe her parched throat. She licked her muzzle appreciativly and purred at her mate. Standing, she blinked at Barkstar. "I hope you think of many more things. It was nice talking to you, and I'm sure I'll see you later." She eyed Skylight's expression carefully, smiling gently to assure him she was alright. Lumbering back into the nursery, she glomped down in a warm corner and curled up, content.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 26, 2011 4:35 pm

Cherrypaw shifted her weight to her back paws so the moss wouldn't touch the floor as she brought it into the nurse seeing that Nightcloud didn't need it. She placed it infornt of another queen who pulled her kits closer to her stomache but thanked her, the apprentice lowered her ears knowing she didn't trust her before heading out of the nursey.

Barkstar narrowed his eyes watching how skylight walked in with cherrypaw and thought to himself for abit before looking at the sky deciding at sunhigh he'd have the ceremony.

((I have two RiverClan apprentices cat_3nodding cat_4laugh <---I love those emotes XD))

Nightcloud eyed the other queen who pulled back, a little angrily. After all, what could a simple apprentice do? She was giving her water for StarClan's sake! She mentally snapped, smiling at Cherrypaw before she left. She then curled up, and slept peacefully until the sun began to rise; covering the world in a bright, warm yellow blanket. Her head jerked up, and she looked towards her belly as it rippled. Her startled yowl shot through the clearing like a speeding monster.
Skylight had positioned himself protectively in front of the nursery, against Nightcloud's orders. When he heard her yowl, his body shot upwards at least four feet before he went scurrying to the Medicine cat's den. He wasn't quick enough--when he reached the middle of the clearing, a black body bolted past him, smelling strongly of herbs. He changed course and followed, nervously pacing in the front of the den's entrance as the tom wiggled his way in.
A while later, tiny squeaks could be heard. Gooseberry sighed with relief. They had all been born healthy, and had no trouble in finding their mother's suckles. He pushed a small pile of three green leaves. "You did wonderfully, Nightcloud. Eat the borage; it will increase your milk." He turned his head, and looked at the other queen and her kits. He smiled slightly, and dipped his head to them before stepping out. "You can go in now, Skylight. She's well, as are your three daughters." He nodded to some of his Clanmates, going back to his duties. He had other jobs than delivering kits after all!
"Th-three daughters? Nightcloud, you're amazing!" Skylight grinned, as he poked his head into the nursery. He hesitated, unsure of whether or not he should be keeping his mate awake. He really wanted to see his kits, but...He didn't want to hurt Nightcloud in the process.
"I didn't make them all myself, silly. Come in, see what we've created, they don't bite; at least, not yet." She smiled, though it was a little strained. She was tired after all. As her mate slowly descended, she placed her tail on the darkest. All her kits had spots on their skins; like she and Skylight had had when they were kits. It was in their blood, though it was rare. "That one is Shadowkit."
"That one looks like us! We shoud call her...Mintkit, because I bet she has your beautiful eyes!" He motioned towards a small kitten, with a slightly silver touch to her coat.
Nightcloud chuckled. "You have similar eyes."
"Ah but not as bright and vivid--"
"Alright, alright. Enough trying to pacify me. They won't be able to walk for some time, so no, you cannot play with them yet." She giggled when he pouted a little, playfully. "This one," She motioned towards a slightly reddish-pink scrap of small fur. "Is...Brushkit."
"Wonderful names." He nodded in agreement, and nuzzled his mate gently. Purring in tune with her. She licked his cheek in return, and he licked the top of her head softly. His raspy tongue rythmatic and soothing. "Rest now, love. I'll bring you some fresh water moss and food before the sun sets." She rested her head gratefully on the soft lining of the nursery, and was asleep in minutes. He licked each kit once, one mewed in response, which he chuckled to, and then stepped out, his chest puffed proudly.

((Aw! Both so cute!))

Barkstar sat outside his den having heard the yowl and now knowing they were more kits in the clan, he looked towards the nursey deciding to give Skylight some time with his kits before telling him about how he planned to make him cherrypaw's mentor. It wouldn't be a normal ceremony since the apprentice had already had a mentor. "Cherrypaw!" He called to the apprentice who rushed over away from the other apprentices who were harassing the young she-cat again. "Bring prey to the queens and becareful when you go in, then clean out the elders den." He meowed knowing she would do what he said since he took responality of being her mentor intill he found her one.

Cherrypaw looked at the leader before nodding and walking to the freshkill pile, grabbing the best vole she could find and heading into the nursey. Stopping at the entrance when she saw Nightcloud with her kits, before stepping around her to another queen hoping not to disturb the family.

((Lol I know ^.^ Sadly things will begin to heat up between them when the kits are old enough to go to a Gathering, and they meet Russetfeather.))

Nightcloud stirred, her mind in a slight fog as she blinked up at the young apprentice. "Ohhh. He--ello," she yawned. Her head sunk back to the nursery's floor, and she was fast asleep again. Her sides slowly heaved up, then down as the tiny scraps of fur suckled greedily at her milk that would give them strength to survive.
"Ah, Cherrypaw, be careful." He whispered before she stepped into where his mate was resting. He padded out into the clearing, talking avidly with some of his Clan-mates, telling them proudly of his kits. A black she-cat by the name of Blackberry asked him if they had already decided on what the kits should be named. "Shadowkit, Brushkit, and Mintkit," He purred warmly. Some murmered their congratulations, others made sly comments or small jokes. Some just mumbled that there would be no more peace withint ShadowClan.
Gooseberry shifted his weight to his left paw, blinking in uncertainty at a pair of bright red deathberries as his fur ruffled uncontrollably. "Three and two, one and one. The time of a great battle, has begun." He chimed, though his meow was heavy with sarcastic enthusiasm. "Why do I always get things in rhymes and riddles? Ridiculous." He grumbled, shifting some borage leaves around so he could count them out. He was fine with borage, it was burdock and spider webs he needed...But right now he was contemplating something as he counted the leaves. He shuffled them into four piles. One had three leaves, one had two, and the others had one each. His green orbs suddenly lit up like the eyes of a twoleg monster. "If you add them, you get seven. I was told it was a lucky number...Lucky my tail," He muttered. His entire body suddenly went rigid, and his tail stuck up like a tall tree. "Kestrel flies where thorns bar his way. He sings his brutal song of dismay. All who hear come to help, only to be trapped by the whelp."
