There's no way to use Wi-fi with the Pokedex. All data exchanges can only be doone over local wireless.
If you look in the right places, you can find the QR codes that correspond with each pokemon.
A few times each day, the pokedex will update, and if you enter the app, you can obtain a new entry.
It's meant to be a gradual collection. Not something you spend a few hours rushing through.

Its a shame it doesn't keep going until you at least have all the common ones. I had already seen a QR list at serebii and scanned the ones I wanted most, so I'll just have to figure out what I'm missing.

hers how i think it works i collect sobe bottle caps and i have so many that i rarly get any newones and i see the ones i allready have a lot

I don't think it works that way. I got a set amount per day- I think it was 2- and then it stopped. I think I had over 100 by then.
I scanned all the codes and now they are appearing for me aga8n 3nodding Originally when you scan the code, it makes that Pokemon more likely to show up. I would only scan your favorites if you aren't too far along.

I had kept up with it pretty much every day, I keep my 3DS on me so I can collect coins from walking.
