Market
Mostly everyone gets along just fine, if a friend needs something and you've got it to spare, you give it to them. Usually. Then there are times when necessity and want butt head-to-head. This is what the market is for. The type of currency has changed, and not many people are willing to part with their food and survival needs to purchase from the market, but its a community trading system.

Thais wandered the market, seeming to know just where it was she was going and what she needed, the boy Michael falling in step beside her, though much gracelessly. Out of her rucksack she took a jacket and handed it to one of the merchants, in place she took eight cans of food and a somewhat crumpled pack of skittles which she handed down to the boy who took it, surprised and ate it, savoring it. She moved onward and looked at another merchant, pointing silently as she tried to remember what she promised him. "Ah, yes..." she spoke quietly as she rummaged again through her knapsack and emerged with three packages of cigarettes. He nodded in appreciation and began opening a package immediately. From him, she took two boxes of ammo for a .45 pistol. Coincidentally, the brand was 'Zombie'. She recalled back to when she was in the store and saw them. They were far overpriced for nothing more than a green tip in place of a brass one. She looked at them for a moment, up at the merchant, then back down at the bullets before she put them in her bag. Another lady offered Thais some MREs for medicine, not your average painkillers. There were several small trades in between, some were personal, some were for the Scar. Finally Thais reached the final trade. The man took her into his tent, away from eyes and stood on the opposite end of a table, his hands gripping the edge of it, waiting. Thais pulled out of her bag three pistols and unstrapped from her back a .12 gauge shotgun. Two pistols were .30 and the other was a .22. In exchange the man placed two bullet proof jackets and three small grenades. Few words were spoken. The last were, "Pleasure doing business," and they were spoken by Thais. Her eyes didn't meet his again once they left the tent, one of the new vests on herself, the grenades tucked inside the second one, which was tucked inside her bag, which obviously had grown in size. She began walking out of the market and towards the direction she knew the compound was. If Ande and Rune decided to go hunting and miss out on being led to its location, then that was their mistake, they would have to wait until she maybe came back to main camp. Thais waits on no one.

Rune came back to camp, not knowing if Coop was behind her or not. She was determined not to care either way. She had just dropped off the medical supplies, and ran to catch up with Thais. She said remotely, "We survived. I'm not waiting for him, not any longer. I'll follow you, and once we get to Scar, I'll show you what I have." She hadn't left all of the Medical Supplies with Nick. She saved the best for herself and for Scar. She walked, then noticed she was still covered in zombie blood. She sighed, and thought, Guess I should have gotten some soap, instead of a changing of clothes. she knew she smelled like death and destruction, but she didn't care. She had hardened her heart, and her mind to the point that she was unfeeling, which was safer.

"Oh yeah?" Thais said, not sounding in the least bit interested that they survived or the fact that Rune had decided not to wait for him. She didn't look at Rune she merely walked by, looking at the stands and items on them, not hardly noticing if Rune had followed her any or not. She didn't care. Rune was a big girl and could decide on her own to make big girl decisions without Thais to hold onto her hand. Her eyes grazed over the goods and occasionally the merchant's faces giving them an approving nod. The boy Michael followed behind Thais, looking once up at Rune and then back to his package of Skittles given to him by Thais. He happily popped one into his mouth, clearly savoring them. Thais just strolled on out, taking no interest in anyone or anything. [exit to Commons]

Rune rolled her eyes slightly, and followed slowly after Thais. She was only trying to protect herself. She knew she shouldn't have left Coop, but she no longer knew what she wanted. Idiot Marine. You should have known better than leaving him like that. What if he had been bitten? Could you have killed him too? she knew the answer was no. She just knew she couldn't have done it. Shrugging, she walked towards the Commons ~Exit Rune to New Glory Hospital~

As T.J. came upon the main camp he immediately found himself in the market, browsing the wears and searching for anything worth trading for. As he was passing a man at a table something caught his eye, he turned and walked back to the man examining the workbench in front of him. "What you gotta have for this?" He said calmly as he ran his fingers across the nubs and nozzles of the work station. It was perfect, just what he needed, he would never have to scavenge in the outer parts of the city again, a work station for making bullets. It seemed the man who had it wasn't quite aware of what its purpose was but T.J. knew and he needed that device to make his business legitimate. It even had extra pieces, some misc caliber rounds and even a small container with gunpowder. " Depends stranger, what do you have?" The merchant said with ambition and greed in his eyes as he watched. T.J. looked up at the man for a moment in silence, then back down at the bench and thought to himself, 'was it worth it? Yes.' T.J. removed a small sack of dried foods from his backpack and pulled out 5 tins of dried fruit, placing it on the table. " Thats all I have." He said hoping the man would take the bait. The man hesitated for a moment then reluctantly agreed, food was worth more than gold in some parts of this camp. T.J. broke down the work station as best he could and stuffed it all into his backpack. The metal piece that he couldn't fit he decided to carry on his shoulder back to his home, this was going to be an interesting journey.

Thais entered the Market, immediately spotting Kevin, who in turn perked up, insisting that she come closer to him, and follow him into his tent. Their business transaction was private and their own. Inside the tent, Kevin set on the table a hand-crank radio, commenting to Thais, "All fixed up," he smiled brightly, his beard making him appear quite jolly, eyes were bright and shiny. Thais smiled slightly, her fingers grazing the radio momentarily before reaching back into her bag. Most of the people she traded with wanted weapons, machetes, ammunition, gear... But now. Thais placed upon the table several months supply of baby formula. With the formula, she also placed a bottle, several onesies, a pacifier, and a few toys meant for an infant. For a moment, there was silence between them, the man's eyes welling up, Thais' back stiff with anticipation. Anticipation that he would find this satisfactory. Kevin placed his hands on the table, stabilizing himself, and then rubbed his face with a hand, smiling broadly. Happy. "I took this errand on myself. Went into the city and gathered these things. I hope they are what you wanted." His smile grew, showing her it was perfect. Thais smiled for what was probably the first time in ages, genuinely smiled, happy for the man. She clasped him hard on the shoulder, shaking him slightly, "Congratulations, daddy," she smiled and Kevin tried to draw her in for a hug, but the table between them made for an awkward bend of the back. "I'll frequent back here, and you'll let me know how your stock is doing... If it is low, I'll go scavenging again..." The man was thrilled as she walked toward the opening of the tent, grabbing the radio as she went. "No one sees this side of me, so don't tell anyone, alright?" Thais joked with Kevin as she grabbed the flap of the tent. Kevin chuckled, "God bless you, Thais." Thais stopped and looked back at him, "No, I don't think he does," she replied, looking over at a woman sitting outside the tent with a 9 month belly, beaming with her pregnancy, "-but I think he sees you," she smiled one last time at Kevin, nodding very slightly to the woman before she began to make her way back to Scar.
