Village: Hidden Cloud (Lightning Country)

History:

Takera and his brother Zeru were born on the outskirts of the Village Hidden in the Mist. Their mother and father were not believed to have carried any such bloodline traits, as the boys had never actually witnessed any indicators. In the beginning years, as a family, they lived in poverty, though they were all genuinely thankful for the house over their head and the food that they were able to grow and acquire through basic farming skills and bartering with those in the community around them.

It was on Takera and Zeru's 10th birthdays when their relatively peaceful lives would be shattered. The boys' father was a rogue shinobi from the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Before he met their mother he had lived out his days spying in outlying nuetral lands and villages on behalf of The Leaf Village. On the day of the last assignment he would ever accept, their father found a beautiful woman with long silver-white hair. Going against the voices that urged him to remain distant for the sake of the mission, their father found himself wildly in love with this beautiful woman, growing closer and closer to her as the days passed. One day, closed to the end of his spying tour, he was informed of critical targets that were hand picked for elimination. Among the short stack of profiles was the beautiful woman's profile. It was then that he had to make a decision--His village, or the love of his life. Their father and mother fled that day--eloping across the country borders until they found themselves settled on the outskirts of the Hidden Mist Village. It was here the boys were born, and here that it all came apart as quickly as it formed.

Shortly into the boys' 10th birthday, they arrived home after a tiring day of farm work only to find that their mother had been brutally slain. Her blood splashed in an arc across the center table and the wall directly behind it. The boys searched tireless, but after combing the area--their father was nowhere to be found. The only clues that turned up were a trail of blood droplets leading out of the house, though even those ended almost as quickly as they began. The hardship for the brothers became real as the grieving process became a constant struggle for survival. The boys did anything they could to stay alive and keep any meager portions of food within reach. They were both mentally and physically drained day in and day out.

Finally a particular day had arived. Zeru came rushing into the house with a flyer he had pulled from a local bulletin board. There were conflicts going on, and large rewards were being paid out to those who could carry out special mercenary missions. With a little digging, it wasn't long before Takera and Zeru discovered that the Hidden Mist Village was accepting students at their Ninja Academy. The two quickly enrolled unaware of the true dangers ahead of them.

The two boys spent just over two years relentlessly pushing each other to the brink of exhaustion practicing everything from kunai throws to pinpointed chakra control. The two began to show a great deal of promise and it didn't go unnoticed. The boys were soon after recruited to join a large scale mission that would require them to locate and retreive a pair of Shinobi who fled the village. As per the circumstances, they were immediately graduated from the Academy and awarded headbands with metal plates baring the symbol of the Mist Village. Although it left them uneasy, they couldn't afford to turn down their first real mission.

[The Mission]

Takera and Zeru had reached the port with haste as their ship was already boarding and would soon depart. As they ran along the docks they found that the ship was leaving them behind. Albeit a bit of a jump, the boys were able to board the vessel that would lead them to their goal for completing their mission. There were a handful of other Genin who would join Takera and Zeru for this mission, all of which already on board the ship with their eyes on the brothers. Little did they know, they were lambs being lead to the slaughter. The targets who went rogue weren't only the most promising Genin of the Mist Academy, but they also harbored a dark secret.

The group landed in Lightning Country on their way through to the Land of Snow. Not long into their journeys, they stopped to rest around a campfire and discuss their plan of attack. Little did they know until it was all too late that a member of their group had planned to betray them from the start. He wasn't a particularly social being, and disappeared in the wake of a raging fire he had created to alert the country and further disrupt the group's plans. When the group arrived in the Land of Snow, they were quickly ambushed. A member of the team ran off after the betrayer in rage leaving the rest to deal with the Orasakai Twins, one of which was nowhere to be seen. Despite putting up a considerable fight, it was futile. Even after their ally had beheaded the traitor and returned to the fight with his severed head as a souvenir, they were still outmatched. Most fell victim of a mysterious genjutsu lingering in the snow, while the entire group fell prey to the older brother--Sai Orasakai, who transformed into a beast with nitemare-ish strength.

The brothers were the only known survivors of their group that day, albeit expecting to be killed, they were instead taken hostage. The younger Orasakai, Sorain, emerged from the edge of the snowy field. He placed a bewitching jutsu upon the boys through an icy kiss that forced them to follow him on his travels and do his bidding. The Mist Village would inevitably come to the conclusion that the group who were sent after the targets met with an unfortunate end, marking them all off as dead. The brothers would eventually escape Sorain's grasp on such a fateful day when he had lost his cool. His control slipped and boys would put as much distance between themselves and Sorain as possible.

[Out of the 'Heat' and into the 'Frying Pan']

Unfortunate, the boys would find themselves enslaved by an underground group that dealt in all forms of crime. The boys would spend almost eight years in their service under the deal that they could earn back their freedom, though this would not be the case as the mobsters had different plans for the brothers.

The boys learned tons of talents both good and bad in their servitude until, finally, the night before the big day arrived. Takera and Zeru were twenty-one years old, and could officially drink. Believing that the very next day they would be free of their captors and could start building a life for themselves again. The two did their best to drink and be merry despite their misfortunes, and inevitably they passed out. When Takera had awoken, he was not in the same place that he had fallen asleep. The sky was only just beginning to crack with light, and he was having a hard time of hearing what was going on around him. In a split moment his senses came back to him--a strange wind blowing over them, the rancid smell of blood and decay. He urgently attempted to lift himself off the ground, but he was met with horrible pain coursing through his back, both of his legs, and his left shoulder. His arms and legs had been broken--smashed and beaten. He gasped unable to make a noise as he trembled in fear and pain.

[The Unbarable Loss]

He slowly turned his weary head in an attempt to see what was around him. His eyes grew wide, and a sense of terror creeped up his spine like nothing he had ever experienced before. Something far more frightening than any of the torture, training, and servitude the two endured together crept into his mind and heart. There beside him lay his brother Zeru, pale and unconcious. Takera feintly cried out for Zeru, but would not get a response. With all the might left in his body, Takera was able to reach a hand out to his brother's body, only to know upon contact that his worst fears had come to pass. His brother, the only other existing family he had, and the one who had been through so much with him, was gone from this world. Tears began to stream down his face steadily. Takera broke down in a way that no torture could have ever yielded from him. He kicked and thrashed and screamed bloody murder till his voice was strained and he began to hack up blood.

His violent outburst had worsened things drastically. His body was breaking down faster than his mind, and his wounds were growing harsher by the second. Blood begun to poor free from his legs. Everything was beginning to fade when a blur appeared before him. Takera's resting expression as the last of his strength depleted was one of damnation. A lost soul crushed under the weight of his own mental and physical burdens. A voice tried to reach out to Takera as he passed out, but his hearing had already been replaced by a steady empty ringing silence.

[The Man Who Changed Fate -- Harteze]

A was traveling nearby with a large sack of various supplies when he had suddenly begun hearing distant cries. Takera's violent outbursts caught his attention and brought him running off the beaten path through the forest line to investigate the sounds. As he arrived, the man ducked behind a tree just before the small open clearing. There were light patches of grass here and there along the clearing, and a disgusting stench of decay filled the air. He wrinkled his nose in disust as it caught up with him. Peering out over the clearing he spotted several bodies laying around spread out. At the middle who were a pair--all of the commotion coming from one of them. The man covered his mouth with his sleeve-covered forearm and pressed forward quickly across the field. As he grew closer he began to see the gravity of the situation. The indentical body beside Takera was undoubted dead, and the pooling blood and bruised body were clear indicators that Takera didn't have long. Takera's cries and thrashing simmered down almost immediately as the strength had all but left his body. The man found himself caught up in an internal debate of his options. If he were to act, he would need to do so quickly. It was possible that the boy already attracted unwanted attention, though no signs of others' presence were sensed. The man let out a sigh as a bead of sweat rolled down his cheek. The option was clear, but it wasn't going to be easy. The man conjured up and molded an incredible level of chakra. His hands ignited with a fierce glow as chakra took physical form. The man placed both hands on Takera's back and a wave of chakra began to spill over Takera's broken shoulder. The chakra coursed over his entire body from head to toe. His wounds began to quickly seal over. Despite the incredible level of healing the man performed, Takera was still in critical condition from the loss of blood and his mental fatigue.

The man took a plastic tube and some accessories from his bag and begun to rig his equipment for a very risky surgery. The man would have to filter some of his own blood into Takera to stabilize him. There wasn't any time to find and confirm a suitable match. All he could do is hope that the two would be compatible to some extent...

[Recovery / Awakening -- 1 Year Later]

Takera awoke from a deep sleep. As his eyes slowly opened he winced at the morning light flowing into his room from the nearby window. Takera laid very silent in contemplation. As his eyes adjusted, he found himself staring aimlessly at the sealing. Painful thoughts began to flood into his mind. The urge to cry was overwhelming, but he had long since reached a point where the tears would no longer flow. An aching void had taken a place in his heart in the wake of his brother's death. Weary, Takera sat up slowly, dragging and draping his legs over the edge of the bed where his feet met the cold wooden floor.

The man had been sitting in the kitchen when he heard a noise from Takera's room. He peered up from his morning paper and set it down slowly on the table. The old man rose from his seat with his eyes locked on Takera's open doorway. The man moved towards the door slowly with curiosity as he peered around the edge of the door. There sat Takera--upright on the edge of the bed. The man was absolutely astonished. Takera's wounded body had still been so severe after the blood fusion that the man had begun to believe Takera might never fully recover. Takera's physical condition was weak from continuous bed rest, but the man had worked Takera's legs, back, and arm muscles twice daily to keep his body from fully fading.

Takera's eyes gazed up slowly from the floor to the man staring back at him from the doorway. His eyes and face carried a mostly hollow expression as if he were looking right through the man as opposed to at him. After a brief moment of silence the man began to speak with Takera about his body and his injuries. Although Takera didn't speak, he still acknowledged the man's requests to move his legs and arms in various patterns. The critical damage to his knees/legs and shoulder were completely healed, but his spirit was still broken.

[New Beginnings -- 2 Years Later]

Takera spent two years of his life recooperating. It was a very gradual process day-to-day before he would come any where close to mentally well. This man, who identified as "Dr. Harteze", was no ordinary man. He spent his time bestowing Takera with valuable medical skills, dietary / nutritional information, and physically training him every day. Using puzzles and books, the man slowly lead Takera's mind and spirit back to reality. Takera had come to find that he now resided within a large house in the forest just below the path that would lead into the Hidden Cloud Village. He was now a resident of the Lightning Country. By recommendation, he was adopted by Dr. Harteze, going by the name "Takera Kaguya", though it wasn't his real name. Pulling strings, Harteze was able to get Takera into the Hidden Cloud village, though he still harbored concerns for the boy's mental well being. Takera was entered into a brief class that would start at the Academy in the morning and was designed solely to test his capabilities to judge whether he was fit to enter society of as a Genin or not.

Creeping Corruption

---Description: All members of the Toyotama Clan carry a corrupted chakra that closely mimics a miasma and can permeate/destroy all life around them when expelled. As a result the user can manifest this miasma chakra into various solid forms as well, even imbuing weapons and other material forms with corrosive properties. This miasma is a constant threat that looms over any battlefield where a Toyotama may be present and will cause everyone involved to suffer the terrible effects

Stage 1: This perk counts as a "Stage" perk in that it's effect innately looms from beginning to end of the battlefield, only pausing briefly for specific conditions.

Everyone starts the battle with a stack of the "Corruption" de-buff, and will gain another stack at the end of each and every one of their turns.

Corruption (De-buff)
1 Stack = [-5*PL] to all Accuracy Checks, [-4*PL] to all Awareness Checks, and [-25*PL] Internal Damage (Applied during each of the player's upkeep/sustain steps)
- The Corruption debuff “PL” is the level of the affected player.
- This debuff cannot be removed normally, and can only be removed by the Toyotama Clan Member once specific conditions are met.
- The max number of stacks a player can have at any one time is 6. (This number is increased by 2 for every additional combatant beyond the original two combatants. [This includes Summons and Companions, but it is based upon the number of additional turns granted instead])

---Type: Innate
---Notes: This effect is automatically unlocked from the start for members of the Toyotama Clan.
