xxxxxxxxxxxxWHEREtoSTART?
o great ↘↘ Aphrodite
hesiod has called me this ↘↘ I have also been called Cytherea (or, the Lady of Cythera) and Cypris (or, the Lady of Cyprus), among other 'cult' names made by groups that worshiped me. The Romans, of course, called me Venus. They even named a planet after me, because it was the prettiest star in the sky! A bit of a pity that they couldn't say what it really looks like, they probably wouldn't have named it after me then, but I suppose they can't be blamed, they are only mortals. And, I was of course also called the Sea Foam Goddess, in regards to my birth.
it should be obvious ↘↘ Female. If you couldn't tell, you must be both blind and stupid.
it does help with the mortals ↘↘ Well of course I can change my form to whatever I want, in order to reflect someone's true ideal of beauty, although I usually only do this for my children. I general though I am usually a tall woman with long curly blonde hair. I am (of course) very slender with an hour-glass figure. I have a slight tan and I wear make-up. Not too much though, enough so that I look gorgeous, which I always do, even without the make-up on. I wear a variety of clothes, and of course, they always look great on me.
bow down↘↘ I am the Goddess of love, beauty, sexuality, fertility, pleasure, and procreation. My symbols are: the dolphin, the dove, the swan, the pomegranate and the lime tree.

xxxxxxxxxxxxTHEtree'sLEAVESareTORNlikeOURhistory can't live without them ↘↘ Do you not know the story of my birth by now? I was born from the sea foam that formed after Kronos thew a piece of Ouranos into the sea, therefore I am technically his last child. playing nice ↘↘ I suppose you could list the titans as my siblings, but I generally just ignore them. having my eyes ↘↘ My godly children are Eros, Anteros, Hymenaios, Harmonia, Peitho, Pothos, Hermaphroditus, Phobos, Deimos, and the Charities, depending on who you ask (no I won't tell you!)
Some of my demi-god children are: Aeneas, Lyros, Eryx, Piper Maclean, Marilyn Monroe, and Silena Beauregard heart heart ↘↘ Well... I have had several flings. I mean, I have children with Dionysus and Hermes, as well as with Ares. Of course, my most well known relationship is with Ares, mostly beacuse he has facinated me for such a long time, but also because of that stupid trap my husband placed. Ares is, of course, still my consort, and were definitely getting better at avoiding any traps Hephestus tries to catch us with.
I get along well with pretty much all the gods, so there's no reason to really list any here. breaking arms↘↘ As I just said, I get along with most of the other gods. And watching them fall from Olympus and crash into the sea? Well that's a little harsh! Besides, toying with their love life would be such a better form of punishment, don't you think?
There are a couple that I don't get along the best with, but I don't necessarily hate them. Of course, me and Artemis don't get along that well. She believes that love is pointless and is chaste, but I know that love is the strongest force in the world. Even if she wont admit to it.
And I can't particularly say I dislike Hephestus, he is my husband after all. But more often than not I wish that I wasn't married to him! He's soo ugly! And he's always trying to catch me with someone else! It's not like he can control my life or anything!

xxxxxxxxxxxxLIVEforeverWITHme want them ↘↘ Well, first and foremost, I love seeing cute couple and beautiful people! I have a tendency to 'ship' people as you mortals call it. I just can't help it! It's so cute to pair up couples! I love fashion and going shopping as well. I mean, who doesn't! Interesting people with curious love-lives have a tendency to catch my eye, and I enjoy spicing up the love-lives of others. I also especially enjoy pomegranates, and not just because they're one of my symbols. And before you say anything about how 'wasn't it pomegranate seeds that Persephone ate?' Yes. Who do you think endorsed that couple in the first place? Also grace. I think it's nice to see graceful people. Oh! An the effect I seem to have on others, especially men, is quite amusing as well. go die ↘↘ People who don't believe in the power of love, or who dismiss it as useless. I mean honestly! What could they be thinking? People who think they can control me. Seeing an outfit that, quite frankly, clashes. Watching the perfect couple break up. Having someone insist that they're more beautiful than I am. Artemis's huntresses. having perks ↘↘ Hmm... How shall I say this. I am the very idea of love and beauty, so of course I know how to care about others and be loving. I am, more often than not, more caring towards my demi-god children and anyone who I favor. I do love the effect my charm has on others, it is quite amusing sometimes, and I do usually get to see it a fair deal as I'm a very sociable person, always stepping out and making myself known. The life of the party you might say. Although I am nice enough to keep only one form with mortals. I'm also determined. What I want, I get.
I have been told that I can be shallow, and I suppose that is true, as I do care about clothes, fashion and looks sometimes more than personality. It has also been said that I am conceited, I do care about how I look after all, unlike that husband of mine (who, by the way, can't blame me for unfaithfulness, because he has demi-god children too).
I can be intelligent and crafty though, often seeing things about relationships or goings-on that others may not.
I am, of course, seductive and flirtatious when I want to be. It wouldn't make sense for me not to be. However, don't think that's the only thing that defines me. I can be very serious when the situation calls for it. going back ↘↘ I was born from the sea foam. Rising out of the sea floating of a scallop shell in a place near Paphos, on the island of Cyprus. That is where my chief place of worship (predictably of course) was in ancient times. When Kronos cut up Ouranos with his scythe, he threw pieces into the sea. Sea foam came from one of those pieces (you figure out which one) and I grew in it until I rose from the sea in the form of a fully-grown woman.
In the early days after my birth, the gods were worried that my beauty would cause jealousy among the other gods and might start a war, so they decided to marry me off to someone. Around that time, Hephaestus had trapped Hera in a trap because she had thrown him off Olympus, and promised my hand to whoever could do it. I was seriously hoping that Ares would be able to free her of course, but he was unable to (not that that stopped us. What I want, I get). Eventually Hephaestus was convinced to just release Hera and take me as his bride, which he did.
Of course, there's the story with my son's wife, Psyche. She was originally a very beautiful mortal woman whom the foolish mortals began to turn to instead of me. I sent Eros out to make her fall in love with the ugliest man alive, but my foolish child fell in love with her himself. He bade her come to live with him but never look upon his face. The foolish girl was tricked by her sisters into doing just that and Eros left her. I thought that was the end of it, but she still loved him, so she went looking for him, eventually coming upon Demeter, who sent her to me. I gave her many dangerous tasks to do, but for some reason she kept getting help. Eventually I thought I had won, but Eros saved her and begged Zeus to marry them. It's actually okay, they do make a cute couple, so I've gotten over it.
And then there was Adonis. I initially saved his life as a baby, and when he grew up I became quite infatuated by him. Me and Persephone had a bit of a fight over him. Which I, of course, won. I took up hunting to be with him, but once I had to go away. I warned him not to attack an animal that showed no fear, but he did, attacking Ares, who was disguised as a boar. Adonis was killed.
I was, indirectly, the cause for the Trojan war. You see, in a contest, Paris judged me the fairest goddess, so I granted him the gift of having the most beautiful woman alive as his wife. She, Helen, was of course already married, but that hardly changed anything. This initiated the Trojan war when Paris abducted her.
I was also the one who brought the statue that Pygmalion made to life. You see, he hadn't had much luck in love, not wanting to marry any of the girls in his village. The villagers asked me to force him to marry, and he offered to chose by the time he finished a sculpture of me. By the time he finished, not only did the sculpture not look much like me, but the man had fallen in love with her. I was so taken my the little tragedy that I brought her to life for him.
There was also a young man named Hippolytus, who denied the advances of Phaedra (his step mother), no matter how much I tired to influence that relationship. In spite, she claimed that he raped her and the boy's father asked one of the gods to scare his horses so that his chariot would crash and he would be killed.
I was also the one who made Medusa and her sisters gorgons (they deserved it), I also had a fling with Ankhises, a herds-man who played the lyre. I also have a festival in my honor that used to be celebrated. The word Aphrodisiac comes from my name.
