I'm not very good at introduction posts when I join forums, but I always feel like I need to at least try. My country is the ever heroic America and I hail from his southern regions (which makes me feel a tidbit dirty to say since I got into Hetalia... <_<)
I stumbled across Hetalia a few months ago and was instantly hooked by the series. What really drew me in was that it reminded me strongly of my techniques for remembering colonial history where my friends and I would talk about the colonies and Indian Nations as if they were people. It amazed me to find out other people do that too! (We thought we were so clever, but looks like there are quite a few country/region-tan stories out there...) Anyway, I'm honestly really into history although I have to admit that before Hetalia I'd primarily concerned myself with North America and thought little of looking into European history. Hetalia forces me to hunt down this stuff so I get all the inside jokes and I have to give the show credit for expanding my horizons. I never thought I'd say that about an anime. XD
Anyway, I hope to have lots of fun conversations with everyone! I look forward to mixing historical discussions with fandom and whatnot.

Welcome to the guild, I'm also pretty new I just don't tend to comment around a lot. I personally got interested with Axis Powers Hetalia for the same reason to be honest, although they were not often in human form and more just plain designs of fantasy creatures. So it wasn't exactly the same thing, but the idea was there.
I personally hope to keep seeing you around here. smile The Hetalia fandom is a bit scary at times due to a few cosplayers who don't know their boundaries, and moments of dumb overall but there are a lot of us who are fairly sensible.

AH! Wisconsin! XD I saw your profile up in that other RP forum and I have to say I think it's fantastic. I love your character. I'm playing Massachusetts and Virginia in there although I only started the other day.

Ahaha yes, I actually have to say what I seen with Massachusetts, I am most impressed with because I rarely see Massachusetts roleplayed. I think it might be because of the intimidating history for the most part. smile Virginia is also for a similar reason I noticed.

That's why they're my favorite characters! Both of them are so complex and intense. Their colonial/early U.S. histories are absolutely amazing. My other favorite is Tennessee. Most people don't realize how complex Tennessee's history is and what a surprisingly important role that state has played in American history.
Personally, I think the Midwest and Western states would be the hardest to role play because they're still relatively "new" compared to the eastern states. (Except for those that were previously colonized, but even then a lot of their history is limited...)

(Except for those that were previously colonized, but even then a lot of their history is limited...) In some ways, they're are depending on where you prefer to begin in terms of history with the states including pre-statehood and so on. However Wisconsin's history is actually pretty long too due to the Great Lakes in the area and it actually has the thirteenth oldest permanent settlement in the United States. (Aka, Green Bay.) In result there are different goals going on like during the French and Indian War/Seven Years' War/La guerre de la Conquête. Then again I always interpreted statehood and so on a lot like a Coming of Age ceremony of sorts, because it kind of seems wrong to disregard the history before it became a 'state' so to speak specifically since there was often a lot of leading up to it... Which logically probably means Wisconsin (and other areas like it) was not officially seen as something 'serious' or that had a real 'say' until 1848 (or whenever the other areas became a state) but were actually probably running around for a while with whatever they had planned. ... Oops, sorry for rambling about this. I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to these subjects. sweatdrop

I love state history and I must admit I've never looked too deeply into Wisconsin although I do plan to one day. Feel free to rant it all out to me. smile For state characters I tend to consider their first permanent settlements to be when they're born unless under special circumstances. I mean, if we see colonies like baby America running around before "nationhood" in Hetalia then I think it makes perfect sense if the states were probably running around before "statehood." One thing I always found interesting about how Hetalia interprets baby!America and England's relationship is that England doesn't discover baby America until after New Sweden is taken over by New Netherlands... but the English colonies had been around for almost 50 years at that point and he would have had to interact with them before that according to my head cannon.
