He was still learning the streets of Destiny City -- and there were a lot of them -- but Gilbert was sure he was at the right address. For one, he'd taken a cab; two, the general part of the neighborhood matched what he'd Google Earth'd. As the cabbie drove off, he shifted his weight from foot to foot, the rolled-over bag of deli sandwiches and chips snugly against his side while he debated ringing the doorbell or knocking. Doorbells were annoying. Knocking could go unnoticed, however.
Aw, hell, he'd just knock and get it over with.
He rapped his knuckles against the door, gaze traveling to his left to watch a lady cross the street while he waited. It seemed like a nice enough neighborhood, though Gilbert couldn't really be picky when it came down to it. James insisted that he didn't have to find a new place to live, but he wasn't going to play awkward third wheel while his cousin and his new paramour snuck around and tried to goose each other when he wasn't looking. He had nothing against James' sexual predilections, he just didn't really want to bear witness to them.
Also, James was really hovering after that whole kidnapped-and-gone-for-six-weeks thing. It was nice when he offered to drive Gilbert to therapy, sort of, he supposed, but. He just didn't really need anyone looking after him. The last time he'd been taken care of was probably when he was nine years old, and he didn't want to mentally throw himself back there, thanks.
He sighed, eyes pinching at the corners, and raised his hand to knock again. He had very few specific requirements for a housemate, but on one he wouldn't budge: they had to be male. Or gender identified as male. Basically, they had to be someone he wasn't going to come home buzzed and want to feel up, because he wasn't looking for a serious relationship and you really couldn't avoid one if you were sleeping with the person you were living with. Ergo, he needed to room with a man.
Otherwise, everything else was up for debate.

Michael heard the knock the first time, but he didn't jump to his feet. He was in the middle of trying to write out a lesson plan for the next couple weeks of classes and couldn't really find it in him to throw everything to the side and lose his train of thought. He wasn't really dressed to receive company and he really didn't care. His shoes were off, and although he still wore his slacks from school, he had unbuttoned his shirt enough so that it was hanging loosely on his shoulders, exposing his chest and the St. Michael medal he wore out of habit.
It wasn't until the second knock that he finally got up from his desk and trotted his way down the stairs to the front door. And while he wore a small smile before he saw who it was, his amusement jumped a hundred percent upon seeing who it was.
"May I help you?" he asked, playful and knowing that the man had come to look at the house, but that didn't mean he still couldn't have his fun. He looked Gilbert over and then at the bag he was holding, his eyes raising to meet the other man's in curiosity, although he was sure he looked like he was about to burst into laughter.
"Michael Gallo," he introduced, holding out a hand after a few moments when he decided not to be a jerk and hold out on the guy. He stepped to the side soon after to allow him into the house. "Come in, I'll show you around."
Well, this was going to be entertaining. Not only had he saved this guy's a** before, but he was pretty sure he could amuse himself by asking about Gilbert's experience in space. If he wanted to be a jerk, of course.
