I am a Christian who is deeply interested in Islam, and especially Islamic (And Christian, & Orthodox Jewish) modesty.

I had some questions for you kind folks, if you don't mind:

-What is immodest to you?
-Women- Are you hijabis/niqabis? What compelled you to start wearing it?
-Is niqab necessary in Islam? I thought you were only supposed to cover everything but the hands and face. Why cover the face?
-Is it haram for a woman to wear pants? Even women's pants?

What is immodest to you?

Showing the goodies (boobies, booty, and ur shape, legs, basically the body)

-Women- Are you hijabis/niqabis?
I am a hijabi

What compelled you to start wearing it?
Fortunately for me, I wore hijab a couple of months leading up to my conversion. The hijab was one of the things that drew me to Islam.

-Is niqab necessary in Islam?
No this is not neccessary

I thought you were only supposed to cover everything but the hands and face.

Why cover the face?

There are alot of reasons why women do this.

they think this way is more modest
out of culture
they were probably forced (this is incorrect)
emulating the mothers of the believers
they want to
they wear it for the same reason us hijabis wear it
they dont want no man looking at them (or if they are married) dont want no other men looking at them


-Is it haram for a woman to wear pants?

No there is nothing in Islam that says wearing pants in Islam. And if anyone should tell you that it is, ask them to bring the proof. Of course we can wear pants, u also have to be modest in this aspect too. When you are out in public or around non-mahrem men (possibly at work or the masjid or wherever) sisters should try wide-legged pants to cover the shape of their lower body or make their own or get it made insh'Allah.
