Discarding Your Hand
"This is a game. Like chess, although much more sorrowful." Says the man who looks like a Jester, as he leads you into the private room. "And yes, before you ask, it is very illegal." You enter the plush red room that looks like a scene from an old mafia movie. The Jester motions you to your seat, then sits next to you.
A plump man with an expensive watch turns his face toward you. "You have been chosen to come here for a reason." Says the man. "You may choose to back out if you wish, however, know this: if not you, then another."
You nod slightly as the man starts to explain the game. "Each player may choose five cards, once chosen, they cannot receive or trade for new ones. These cards represent a real being in the world above you. There are many races to choose from, all of which are described on your card when you choose them. You may partially control them, however, it is only to an extent.
"Your opponent and you will determine who chooses first by a simple roll of a six sided di. One will chose their card first then the other must follow. Naturally, there are different types of beings out there so one may have a slight advantage over another. Your card and the opponents will fight in the real world above while you watch as a spectacle.
"Now, before you get upset, if you are about to, keep in mind that we are offering this in two ways. If you win you may either get the enormous amount of money promised to you when you heard of the game or you may choose to set all of your surviving cards free."
You consider his words carefully. As you say you will participate the Jester's eyes twinkle. He then pulls out an old dust book, that is a deeper red than what is in the room, and he begins to explain the rules:
1. Each player gets 5 cards.
2. Once you begin the game, there is no stopping.
3. You may sub out cards at any time. They will take the exact place and location as your current.
4. You have one reprieve where you may heal a single one of your cards, nothing more.
5. When they die, they die, move on and continue playing.
6. Each player may only have one Incarnate that can be played once per match, cannot be healed, and is only allowed to kill one card.
7. Do not tell of the card game.
8. Any violation will cause you to be given to the game as a card until the day you die.
