The physical Elder Scrolls play a very limited role in the storyline of the series, serving only as framing plot device (i.e., "[the events in this game] were foretold in the Elder Scrolls..."). The Elder Scrolls themselves are rarely referred to in-game, or even in the in-game literature. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion marked the first actual appearance of the scrolls, as a MacGuffin in a quest-line.
In the game series, a sect of monks devote their lives to the reading and interpreting the Elder Scrolls.[13] Advanced members who read the scrolls wear blindfolds at all times when they are not divining the scrolls' content. Retired Moth Priests are completely blind, and continue to wear blindfolds for ceremonial purposes. However, cosmically-important individuals, or individuals that are the subject of prophecy, have been able to see writing on the Elder Scrolls without the associated rituals. A book entitled "Lost Histories of Tamriel" provides further insight on the Elder Scrolls, stating that when any event has actually occurred, it sets itself unchangeably into the scrolls, and no action, magical or otherwise, can alter this.[14]
In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the Elder Scrolls themselves are the object of the final Thieves' Guild questline, in which the player has to steal an Elder Scroll.[13] The scroll itself appears as an incomprehensible chart, containing glyphs.[13]

I was playing Skyrim and made some notes that I would like to share and see if anyone else feels the same or has another opinion
*SPOILER* (Not sure if there is one, but it can't hurt right?)
1. The night time Auroras are beautiful, especially around Whiterun. The view of the city with the moon behind it or the cloudy mountains actually make me stop playing and stare.
2. Giants are way more powerful than they look.
3. Battleaxes are epic, always.
4. Whirlwind sprint is useless.
5. Horses are WAY more useful now.
6. Werewolves KICK TOTAL a**.

I have to agree with you! I finally got to see the aurora borealis the other night, and it was absolutely amazing. I try to stay away from the giants, but I did attack one after it killed an innocent man. I ended up scampering up a rocky outcropping to evade it, and picked it off with my bow and arrows. It took at least ten hits before it went down. Oh, and the horses are great! I only wish we had the ability to fight enemies while riding, like in Mabinogi. I always have to stop and dismount, then get my weapon ready-- and by that time, I'm already under attack. Plus, it's difficult to track them down if they happen to run off after an attack... It's funny; my horse easily withstood a dragon attack-- but two swipes from a sabertooth tiger and it died. :'( And yes, whirlwind sprint is useless...

It would be nice to have the chance to fight on horse back, firing arrows at a dragon as it flies around or something. I am pretty sure there are many good reasons they don't put it in whether it's from balancing, animating, bugs, or all three. I bought a horse early in the game outside Whiterun and went traveling into the mountains. I found the giants for the first time in my life and went to see if I could trade with them... I dismounted from my new horse and the giant one-shotted it. I freaked out and ran, they chased and proceeded to one-shot me as well. Loaded the autosave from Whiterun's main gate and did NOT buy a horse that time around.

WOw, I thought horse were immortal. GirlOnDuty did a livestream yesterday and said horses only died if you attacked them. She even let two Mammoths attack her horse while she hit them with arrows and the horse survived.

There was an immortal horse in Oblivion, but there was only the one. Maybe there is an immortal horse in Skyrim but mine was definitely not one.

Haha, if there is an immortal horse in Skyrim, I would love to know where I can buy it. I just started playing last week, and I'm already on my fifth horse. xD

I now stick with running, sneaking, carriage rides, and the occasional fast travel.

J0k3R D FR3I There was an immortal horse in Oblivion, but there was only the one. Maybe there is an immortal horse in Skyrim but mine was definitely not one. I think that same horse is in this game too, but I read it's not immortal in this game. You let it die, it's gone for good.
Loving this game. Been playing as a Destruction mage (mostly fire) with a dabble in Conjuration to assist me. Killing my first mammoth was awesome. Shoot with fire, run, repeat. Also let a saber cat attack it, zombify it, let it help me, and repeat on another cat which it was fighting. My first troll was a joke since I had a fire elemental as well as I shot fire at it.
BTW, spoiler in white --> I know you get to marry people in this game and as soon as I joined the Dark Brotherhood I saw the leader and was like "Oooo, maybe I can try with her" but then she mentions she is married lol. Also, her husband is a warewolf so less chance of me doing him in and going for it. rofl

I started playing skyrim. Which might have been a bad idea since it takes up so much of my time, almost against my will. But never the less. I'm currently level 34. Wandering around with my housecarl from whiterun, Lydia. I have pictures: Lydia and Me Every time i see Lydia i think the same thing: "That's a lot of woman." These Nord women are huge. But anyway, i wonder if anyone can help me with this treasure map. I don't know where this is: PS: I play on PC

I used to have Lydia help me out (nice armor btw) but I ran in to a dungeon and she disappeared out of thin air with a mace I got from helping a demon lord... No corpse anywhere so I know she didn't die. They need to patch that.

Luckily i keep like 20 save files that i save on one by one. So i loaded the one closest to her up and got her back. I know 20 is a lot but many of them came by accident, i assure you.

Funny. Whirlwind sprint is actually one of my most used shouts. It's very advantageous if you're an archer class. Makes putting distance between me and the enemy much easier.

I've used Whirlwind sprint for a few things actually. You actually need it in one area to get across some broken bridges to access a hidden area out of reach normally.
Hahahaha, I accidentally killed Lydia with my fire magic. Apparently, your followers can not die, even when their hp is depleted fully. When this does happen they simply kneel and their health slowly regenerates in battle. If you defeat nearby enemies they "revive" with a small amount of health. IF YOU KILL THEM, they die for good, hence Lydia got in the crossfire of my Flames spell and died permanently. Kinda sad about that.

My dad bought a new xbox (we had two white ones that died) on black friday. I'm not allowed to open it until Christmas. So it's just sitting there in the living room, mocking me. We have a copy of Skyrim that I can't play. emotion_kirakira
