Shadow waited outside the door as one of the guards knocked on the door,
waiting for the word of approval before letting her enter. Shadow looked
around the dimly lit room, her eyes landing on Jerome. She bowed
respectfully as the door behind her closed, walking over to the desk.
"It's been a long time since I've seen you, my dear." He told her as he
motioned for her to have a seat.
Shadow nodded,
"They've had me running all over this last week, and
tomorrows no exception." She told him simply, her voice almost robotic, the
life taken out of in when in the presence of the man who had been in her life
the longest and had the most control over her life. At one point Kokiro may of
succeeded him him that spot, but that time had long past.
"Ah yes, and we appreciate it, you're doing such a good job." He told her,
sitting up and walking around the desk to look at her
. "Though I do have a
concern that had been brought to my attention." He told her, watching her
carefully.
Shadow looked up at him, waiting. She knew she didn't have to ask what it
was, he would tell her.
"You remain at the top of my assassins, I've been
keeping an eyes on all of them and watching them progress, while you
remain my best I can't help but to notice your lack of wins against the
Knights who you've had frequent run-in's with. You even got yourself taken
hostage twice, i'm concerned if you are letting yourself get to emotionally
involved in your battles. After all there are several of your ex-assassins there
not to mention Kokiro himself." He pointed out to her.
"You're not letting past
acquaintances get in the way of your job are you?"Shadow looked up at him, his words were innocent enough, his tone low and
soft yet there was a danger to it, a warning in his voice,
"I can assure you
that the only emotion i can possibly have towards them in hate to drive me." She told him.
Jerome nodded,
"That's good to hear, but I also can't have rumors spreading
GeoTech is getting weak, another defeat I'll have to but you back into isolated
training, the extra training i've provided you doesn't seem to be enough." Shadow looked at him, an emotion she thought long dead ran though her.
What was it? Memories of never-ending darkness, stillness and silence
enough to drive a person mad, hunger, pain. The experiences blended
together. What was the gripping feeling on her heart? She nodded.
"Of
course." She nodded her head before looking back at him.
"
Good, I'm glad we both understand the situation. You are a beautifully deadly
assassin, i just want to ensure that doesn't change, I've taken quiet a liking to
you." He told her. Dismissing her without a word.
