Brago and Lex - Dreams
Lex awoke from his dream. It took him a few seconds to realize his cellphone was ringing.
“Yeah? Yeah, sweet, thanks.” Finally, confirmation that the mission was well and truly over, and he could finally go home. He buried his face in the cheap hotel pillow and let a smile creep over his face as he remembered his dream.
It was about Brago. Some place was showing a free movie, and Brago had really wanted to go, they both had. A little uncharacteristic, but dreams usually are. The part he was remembering was when he had put his arm around Brago’s shoulder, and Brago had snaked his arm around Lex’s back. He missed Brago so much, and couldn’t wait to get home to him. He breathed out and let his mind start to roam, over the room, over the city, over the world, other worlds, other galaxies, until he reached home and felt the familiar presence of his lover. He let their minds mingle for a few seconds to make sure Brago knew he was coming home today, and then he pulled back into his own mind. The effort had exhausted him, and he felt fuzzy and a little dizzy, but it was the best way to let Brago know that he was coming home today.
He was coming home today. Another smile spread itself across Lex’s face. He hopped out of bed, and used his telekinesis to pull all his belongings together into his bag-of-holding backpack as quickly as possible, ran out of the room while making sure the door locked behind him, grabbed a crappy breakfast sandwich from the hotel’s complimentary breakfast table, and checked out. That took about ten minutes, and Lex was anxious through the line that had already built up for the morning. Now he just had to find an empty backstreet and warp home. Again he used his mind to find the nearest empty area, and speed-walked, almost running even, the entire way. Another quick check to make sure no one was watching, and he opened the purple portal and stepped through.
After about twenty five minutes, he was finally home. He placed his hand on the familiar doorknob and pushed the door open. Brago was in the kitchen waiting for him, chopping up various vegetables. Lex could tell they were preparing for his favorite meal. Lex left his backpack on the kitchen table, and kneeled down behind Brago, wrapping his arms around the demon’s waist and burying his face in his back. Brago set the knife down and turned around, wrapping his arms around Lex’s shoulders and resting his chin on Lex’s head. They didn’t move for several moments.
“Where’s Sherry?” Lex ventured, voice muffled in Brago’s chest.
“She went to the market for a few things.” Another short pause, and then he added “I’ve missed you.”
“I know.” Lex smiled, looking into Brago’s eyes. Then he finally noticed the pounding headache. He untangled himself from Brago and flopped himself down on the couch, laying his arm over his eyes.
“Are you alright?” Brago had followed him into the living room area. Lex peeked out at him from under his arm.
“Yeah, I just used my mental powers too much this morning. Too eager to get home. Bit of a headache now.”
“Scoot over.” Lex smiled and shoved himself against the back of the couch, and he felt Brago slip into his arms and settle against his body. Soon after he felt Brago press his lips against Lex’s. A few kisses, and he whispered “I really missed you.”
Lex pressed a kiss to Brago’s forehead. “I dreamed about you last night. We were spending time together, my arm around your shoulder and your arm around my waist.” At this, Brago pressed his lips back against Lex’s lips, but this time Lex felt his tongue press past his lips. He tangled his hands into the back of Brago’s shirt, passion taking up his tired mind. Of course now would be the time his head reminded him that he had a horrible headache. Fortunately, Brago recognized this and broke the kiss.
“Rest,” he muttered. Lex smiled and wrapped his lover tightly in his arms, and let himself drift off to sleep, Brago’s presence ensuring sweet dreams.
Lex woke up to the sound of something being set on the table. Noting Brago hadn't woken up yet, he carefully strained to look at the noise. Sherry was back. She threw a quick smile in his direction, and walked over to the couch. Placing a small kiss to Brago's cheek and another one on Lex's lips, she whispered:
"Not exactly what I expected you two to be doing."
"Was just a bit tired from trying to get home as quick as possible." Lex grinned at her, remnants of his headache still pulsing behind his eyes. Lex paused as Brago adjusted himself deeper into Lex's chest, but didn't wake. Lex spoke more softly to Sherry. "Want to join us?"
"As much as I'd like to," she threw a fond look at Brago, "these vegetables have been left alone too long, I'll take care of them, and the rest of dinner."
"Thank you, love." Lex watched her in silence for a few more moments. "I missed you too, you know."
"Not as much as Brago." She didn't miss a beat, but it wasn't said with the intention to hurt. She tossed a devious grin in Lex's direction. "Besides, I had him to myself for all that time. Most fun I've had in a while."
Lex chuckled and stuck his tongue out at her. He watched her for a while longer, smile never leaving her face. Finally, Brago awoke. He pressed a quick kiss to Lex's chest, and looked up to check for Sherry.
"Dinner?"
She smiled sweetly at him. "It's almost ready."
"Then let's get it ready." He got up and began helping her ready the last bits. Lex smiled, it was good to be back to normal routine. "Are you going to help or lay there doing nothing?"
"Yeah yeah, I'm helping." It was good to be home.
