This is one of my RPs that I toyed with a while back. It went well at first, but quickly fell flat due to a lack of characters. I'm thinking of trying it here, but I need a reason for things to happen. I have a back story to explain up to this point, but nothing to work with after that. INTRO A long time in the past, there lived an ancient race of humans. Humans with the great power to release the elements at their own will and potentially could become powerful enough to conquer countries on their own. These people where known as the Atlanteans, and controlled what was then known as "Bursts", focused forms of elemental energy that they could create on the spot through weapons handed down from their ancient ones known as burst gauntlets. As time passed though, the atlanteans became too caught up in there own power, and too greedy. Beginning to see themselves as gods, a civil war began over who was the most powerful and important. It was a war that eventually caused the destruction of their civilization, and the loss of their great island Atlantis. The year is 2021, and the world is at peace. The UN, now known as World Kingdom, has brought all the world under one flag. Not only is World kingdom in control of the world's largest army, but their military base on the moon also gives them complete domination even in space. With the world at peace, it has allowed for great advancement in all fields of science, but the one of note is archeology. Roughly three months ago, a great ruin was found, hidden beneath the waves of the Atlantic. Unknown to the scientists at the time though, it was the great and fabled lost city of Atlantis. When it was discovered, World kingdom immediately closed the sight down, for undisclosed reasons. roughly one week later, there was a great explosion, and the city rose up from beneath the waves, returning to the surface once more. News, tourists, and more came from all over to see the city before World kingdom could close it down completely. Since then, it hasn't been opened to anyone other than WK employees. Unknown to them though, great weapons have been launched during the rise, and are now being found all over the planet. These weapons are Burst Gauntlets.

I think you've got a great premise here. I'd be interested in seeing this as a roleplay.

Oooooh I'm hooked. I like the Atlantis idea. I've always loved the story of the lost city of Atlantis (I loved the animated movies... >.<). It's got a great start, and I think it could go quite well. But how did it manage to not work with only a few people? I mean, I guess if no one replied for long periods of time, it would die...

Actually, I think it was more to do with me not really knowing what I was doing with it. It's one of my earliest RP ideas, so I'm hoping a bit more experience will lend itself to the premise. Anyway, here's more info on the world. Technology There are as of yet, no Robots, though AI has advanced a bit, and runs some of the largest facilities in the world. Transportation has advanced to the point where gasoline is nearly obsolete, and hover tech is released. It's not widely used in large vehicles, due to weight problems, however, smaller vehicles such as motorbikes can be fitted out with hover tech for speed. For the larger vehicles, hydrogen fuel cells have been developed, capable of running on water, plant matter and sunlight. There are also hover skates, boards, and such that are used mainly for recreational purposes and sport. Cellphones and computers are outdated. Instead everyone now has headsets, which use the latest in holographic displays and wireless technology and the like to act as all of those.

I'm interested, but I warn you this has to be run perfectly for it to work. This is one of those 'into the deep'-ish RPs which usually don't go well due to cliches and a lack of GM discretion. However, If you can run this well, it'll be interesting.
Anyways, is this going to be an episodic/maneuvering RP or one of those military missions?

This has promise. It's a little iffy to me right now, but that's only there's nothing beyond the basic premise to go off of. There's so many things to explore: The WK (or another organization) finding out about the weapons and trying to collect the Gauntlets; those that finding them becoming like superheroes/villains, if they're able to use them at all; what role if any does Atlantis itself play into anything; whether the conflict will be strictly man vs man, or if there's possibility for a more supernatural elements coming into play, etc.
I'm pretty sure you understand this, but make sure you keep things focused. I've been in RPs before that had great premises, but never got very far because things were too open and there was little direction.

I was in the last one, and it worked very well biggrin The problems we had were indeed a lack of people and too many characters to each person. The story worked well, and actually quite a bit was character based. There was the 'evil' side World Kingdom, and the 'good' side, The Rebellion. Both the Commanders on each side had quiiite a bit of story behind them that moved things forwards lol
Arts if you don't mind Can I post up the two generals? Give people a feel for the drive behind it? Of course both the characters would be tweaked ever so slightly to fit the new RP instead of the old ones >.>
@Vanguard, that was actually a plot point in the older one. The WK trying to collect all the gauntlets from around the world that had fallen into the hands of the various characters and indeed trying to reverse engineer the technology (not sure if Arts wants to pop that back in though). It was very much a 'hunter and the hunted' style of play with the characters all being targeted by the WK.
Anyway... I think I'll leave the rest of the explaining to me Bro haha! I donno what he really wants to do with it this time so, yeah, I might just be babbling pish here if he's gonna change it hahaha!

I would if I was at home right now, but I don't have a copy of them here. Still unsure about how much supernatural stuff to throw in, but there will be some. The gauntlets grant "the powers of the gods", your basic air, fire, water style. I'm going to have a few premade powers, but not as many as last time. This time round, it'll focus less on the collecting and more on.....something. emotion_donotwant Just don't know what yet. I need a conflict somewhere. Theres one between the Rebels and WK, but that's not the one I want to focus on, that's just a side story. I'll think about it some and get back to you lot tonight.

Right, we have the leader of the WK Name: Arik Diedrich Age: 44 Gender: Male Appearance: Youthful looking with a strong presence, he dresses in a smart and fashionable manor but definite hints of his harsh and contorted personality show through. He is quite a lover of technical metal; this also shows in his style. Personality: Arik is cold, calculated, and clinically insane. People say that genius is one step from madness, Arik got to genius… And passed it. He doesn’t hesitate to kill, unless torture is an option first and shows his unyielding authority by striking fear into his enemy’s hearts. He does have a soft and caring side… If by soft you mean brutal, and by caring you meant sadistic… Gear: A personal class Battlecraft – Icharus [About the size an aircraft carrier - This craft is fitted with numerus machinegun turrets and cannons that bristle all over the outer hull, it also features a large bomb payload. It also features a hangar with 5 fightercraft (the equivalent to tornado jets ) and 2 assault landingcraft (the equivalent to chinook choppers)] W.K. Capital Ship – Chronos [The Icharus equals the size of one of the side weapon modules, the Chronos is massive, usually only the sight of it is enough to cause the enemy to surrender. – The weapons systems feature 8 synchronous turrets, each one capable of easily taking out a full building. 2 heavy impact laser cannons, capable of wiping out a city block. 2 short range machine-cannons . 8 defence turrets] Personal stuff: Headset – from this headset Arik can can control quite a few controls of the battlecrafts, like pinpointing targets to fire upon, giving them flight co-ordinates and so on . Pursuit class jump boots – These boots are not true hover boots but use a variation of the same tech, they work by propelling the user meters into the air, accentuating their own jump, and softening their landing. They were originally used for fast travel around urban warfare environments and for shock drop troopers instead of a parachute. Weapons:Two bladed plasma guns Custom straight bladed vibrosword. This sword has a high power unit in the bottom that intensely vibrates the blade, upping it’s cutting power by 200% allowing it to almost melt any countering blades or send the opposing wielder off balance. History:Arik was a genius, passing university with a doctorate in psychology at an incredibly young age of 18, he had a promising career ahead of him in almost any field of work, but instead he chose to join the military, more precisely the MP (Military Police). He was trained in a vast number of combat techniques as his line of work was to take down AWOL soldiers and ‘incapacitate’ trained killers, this led to him becoming not only smart, but incredibly strong and hard willed. During his service, Arik came to bore of his position; he wanted more power, which is what he set out to do. He convinced his comrades and platoon that the Government was not strong enough, that they were weak and easily swayed. This began the coup d'état… Using his position Arik dug up information about the government leaders and blackmailed his way to power, and those that took a stand? He made ‘disappear’ as if they never existed. The new government was made entirely of his old platoon and comrades with him in charge, anyone that that says otherwise, dies... Other: Arik has developed a heart condition that tends to prevent him from fighting for a great length of time, despite this he is a formidable opponent. The less time Arik fights the better, and because of this he never holds back. Theme song:Bury The Hatchet Side:W.K… With an Iron Fist And the leader of the Rebel Forces Name: Kyne Balderon Age: 39 Gender: Male Appearance: Kyne is a man of medium build and stands at six feet. His eyes are a cold blue piercing in nature, and they have a habit of making people pay attention to him. Although Kyne has an eye patch over one eye, his left eye is fully capable of sight. He has chosen to leave the eye patch on to make battle a bit more challenging for him. It also makes him appear more intimidating, but that was not his point. Personality: Kyne is a strong charismatic leader who is determined to bring WK down for its corruption. Even without being a leader, he is innately courageous and strategic in planning and carrying plans out. He is also good at reading people’s actions and composures and anticipating possible enemy actions. In the war against WK, he not only considers battles but also publicity stunts to rile up the citizens of WK against WK itself. Though he cares for his men, he knows when he must make decisions which may either sacrifice himself or the men to save everyone else. As a leader, he knows that he has responsibilities to everyone. Simply put, this man is someone you can count on. But this doesn’t mean he’s the perfect person. He’s human after all, and he can’t always be “perfect.” Gear: Communication Headset with scope and night vision, Light Armour and boots. Weapons. Hover board (Yeah, just because the guy’s not a young one doesn’t mean he can’t use a hover board…) Weapons: Burst Gauntlet and Magnetism Shard, Pistols. Knife. Has the option of whatever supplies the rebel base has. History: Kyne had an educational childhood where he went through college and grad school as an engineer funded by the military since he would be entering it full time upon graduation. Kyne wasn’t simply just a communications engineer in the military however. He also excelled at battle and was a promising future candidate to rocket through the ranks. Actually, he was probably better at tactics than the engineering stuff. However, due to a falling out, Kyne respectfully resigned and immediately left. He knew there were a lot of people unhappy with him. While living as a civilian, shortly after, he discovered a gauntlet and shard which almost seemed to call out to him, enabling him to test the shard of Magnetism… where he almost knocked himself out until he figured out what the hell the shard did at the risk of his life. Of course, WK found out too, and Kyne left for the run. People were already forming resistances secretly, and Kyne simply gathered them and became their natural leader, whether he wanted to or not. Under Kyne’s leadership, the rebels have become a thorn in WK’s side, and Kyne intends to make it worse and to expose the public to WK’s corruption. Other: Despite realizing the potential of the shards, Kyne is skeptical of the shards and has asked the scientists in the resistance to carefully study the shards. There are pros and cons to everything, and he wants to know what, if any, the string attached to the shards are. Theme song: Wolfbiker Side: Rebels
