I'll admit it - I'm a nutty book lover. And I've already run out of room on my shelf. But hey, life's good when you have books (especially the Bible). My family are all book lovers. We all have our own books and read a lot. We are also Christians. That is why we like to collect Christian-fiction. Ever heard the term before? Practically it is books that are written by Christian authors that are designed to inspire faith. There also books written as analogies of the Bible. It is just one way of spreading the Good News. I figured that maybe other Christians don't know about these books or are looking for some. So, why not post it here? I've read quite a few so I can post up some reviews and mini blurbs and such.

Anyone interested?

I love reading. ^^
The most recent Christian book I've read was called, "The Book of Lies"
Well, I shouldn't say I've read-
I started reading then band and school started and I haven't had the time to read.
But I shall finish it... one of these days. xD

I've been reading many books lately both online and offline. One online is of St. John Cassian, who defends against several idea's held today by Calvinists. He is rather good, even goes to prove the strength and the weakness of the will of man, and how man can will good. "for the first statement of man made by God after the fall was 'man has become like us to know both good and evil' " - St. John Cassian.

I've also been reading through Heretics by G.K. Chesterton. Where he goes down many poor philosophical ideals that are contrary to Christianity and puts them down. Then with Orthodoxy, he gives you Christianity. It is a rather good book so far and has definitely kept my interest. As well as "The Man Who Was Thursday" by him. Which is a story about a Police officer who infiltrates a group of Anarchists to bring them down. So far that is also pretty good.

Reading for the win!

The Book of Lies is actually Christian? I've read the book! Is the author James Moloney?

Okay, so there are actually some interested Gaians. Let's start with my favourite series . . .

The Kingdom series by Chuck Black

Books include: Kingdom's Dawn, Kingdom's Hope, Kingdom's Edge, Kingdom's Call, Kingdom's Quest and Kingdom's Reign.

Simply written, easy read and a thin book but nonetheless entertaining and full of medieval fantasy adventure. The books are plotted out as an analogy of the Bible starting in Genesis and ending in Revelations. Not all of the books feature the same main character. There is like one for each book, but some characters do circulate and overlap in other books outside of their own. It does put into perpective the Christian belief, as the Knights trust in their unseen King, or God in our world and do battle against the evil forces of Lucius, or better known as Satan.

For those who really want insight into the allegory, there are discussion questions and answers at the back fo the book for each chapter. Good for youth groups, I figured. And for those who can play piano, there is also a piano piece after the discussion questions by Emily Elizabeth Black.

Overall, an easy read and suitable for 12+ (I think, I'm not so good at estimating plus I haven't read the books in a while).

If you liked these books read the Knights of Arrethrae (review a few posts below)

Oh. That makes sense now. I read a completely different book that had the same title.

The Last Sin Eater by Francine Rivers

Wonderful book that is just so beautifully written it makes you want to cry (well, for me it nearly did sweatdrop ). Rivers is a fabulous writer and so far I have enjoyed all of her books. The Last Sin Eater is set back in way old times (I think it was 1600s) and revolves around a village full of secrets, a 'Sin Eater' and a mysterious stranger.

The Last Sin Eater highlights the greatness of God's forgiveness and his mercy. A quite thick book but it is well paced, interesting and probably suitable for 15+.

Bill Meyers Books: Ancient Forces Collection, Deadly Loyalty Collection, Invisible Terror Collection and Dark Power Collection

Staring Christian teenagers Rebecca, her brother Scott and (non-christian) friend Ryan Riordan, these adventures are based on the current time and tackle issues that are real in our world. These books pretty much lay down the deal on ghosts, cults, voodoo and the invisible forces of our world (which can, unfortunately, involve evil ones too).

What I liked about these books was that it also highlighted the power of the invisible forces in our world; ie: the spiritual world.

Now, I haven't read them in a long while so I can't give an age rating but they were fascinatingly good for probably teenagers (maybe adults too?) in general.

The Prophecy by Dawn Miller

Now this book I loved to bits. If you're one of those people who absolutely love it when separate character journeys all come clashing together on some psyched up mystery/adventure/destiny - then this book is THE book.

The Prophecy is set in current times and revolves around several characters that are referred to as 'Watchers'. This group of special people are born every generation and have the ability to see into the spiritual world - actually see the Angels and the Demons and converse with them on some occassions. The story builds up to a climax that brings a group of old friends together, at the same time revealing their mysterious past. The literature itself is well paced and is good at mixing 'flashbacks' with the present time. It also keeps you on your toes and can (and where's the fun if this didn't happen?) get you confused on who is the bad guy and who is on your side.

Good read; not too thick or too thin a book. 14+

I think that the only thing that I've read that are any of the Christian booklists that I've seen was C S Lewis. But there was one by Anita Diamant that was good. And there were a few others. But it's been a while since I've read anything but text books and the Bible.

The Knights of Arrethrae by Chuck Black

Books include (in order):Sir Kendrick and the Castle of Bel Lione, Sir Bentley and Holbrook Court, Sir Dalton and the Shadow Heart, Lady Carliss and the Water of Moorue, Sir Quinlan and the Swords of Valor and Sir Rown and the Camerian Conquest.

As the Kingdom Series by Chuck Black, these stories are analogies of the Bible and of a Christian's journey. These books are short and easy to read; about 150-180 pages long.

Set in the same time and place as the Kingdom Series, the Knights of Arrethrae battle against the dark forces of Lucius. For the fun part of it, some characters in the Kingdom Series and previous Knights of Arrethrae books take part in more than one adventure.

What I like about these books are that they are examples of Christians and their journies in finding God or learning to stand with His name. A couple of the stories are analogies of Revelations in the Bible. For me, they were really exciting (nearly missed my bus stop once).

For those who really would like an insight into these stories, there are discussion questions at the back of each book for each chapter. And for those who know how to play piano, there is also a piano piece included at the end by Emily Elizabeth Black.

For more info on the Kingdom Series see the review a few posts above.
