A gentle morning breeze ruffled the grass not too far from a misty lake, tugging and pushing at the tan fur that belonged to a muscular, wandering kitsune as he slept, his maw resting atop his crossed paws. The world would try gently to wake him, to rouse him from his dream of chasing that North Star to a place he knew he belonged to. That home he had been chasing for as long as he could remember.

'Follow the star, Orion, and you will find your way home.'

"How will I know when I'm there?"

'Follow the star, and it will not lead you astray. You will know when you reach the place where your heart truly resides.'

With a careful twitching of his back legs and a furrowing of his blond brows, the kitsune began to wake, his dream slipping from him faster and faster.

"How long do I have to run..?" Talking in his sleep was not abnormal for the wanderer, though he was never aware that he did so-- Orion did not ever stay around anyone long enough to stay the night in their presence.

'You will know when to stop.'

And like that, the dream was over. The world, getting quite tired of the kitsune oversleeping, sent an acorn flying his way, smacking him straight on the nose, making him jump up to his paws with alarm. Emerald green eyes flicking around to attempt and spot the assailant, he growled when a squirrel seemed to laugh at him from a tree, his ears folding back on his skull. That little furry b*****d was making fun of him, and so, the first course of action he would take today was to catch a quick breakfast that would immediately regret waking the hunting beast. Only when he had said furry mammal clamped tight in his jaws did he pause to wonder where he was, why he had decided to stop here in front of some thorny bushes of all places, to rest, and more importantly-- Why the hell did he have such a raging headache?

User Image Nori was not amused. He had woken up in the morning to find an unfortunately familiar male parked out front. This was not right at all. It was a nuisance. It was all well and good when he decided to track somebody down, but it was not okay when they came after him. He watched, belly pressed against the earth and head angled so that he wasn’t quite noticeable but still able to get a good view.

He watched, and waited… and waited some more. Nori was just considered getting out a giving the other kitsune and bite when a squirrel did the job of waking Orion up. Good. Nori slunk back deeper into his hole and hoped Orion would just wander off after his snack, but it did not happen and in the end he gave a huff of annoyance.

The dark coated kitsune slunk out from beneath the thorns, shaking his fur out. He gave Orion a doleful glance as he sat down in front of his den entrance. “Aren’t you supposed to be running into more holes… preferably far away from here?

Jumping only a little when the lithe kitsune made his presence known to the larger male, Orion's memory was sufficiently jogged about the night prior. That was right. He had fallen into that cheeky kit's trap, was insulted for being so stupid, had sticks and dirt thrown on him, and even had to catch the jerk's dinner for him (though that part had been admittedly enjoyable). Dropping his meal at his paws, his blond brows furrowed in annoyance as his ears pinned back to his skull, turning to actually face Nori head-on. He had remembered that the male had been small, but... In the daylight--and without a throbbing headache--the other had seemed much smaller. Definitely of no threat to Orion, should he be snarky enough to put up some sort of fight.

"You! Augh, you're so frustrating! First you nearly break my neck with your damn hole, and then you make me catch you ducks, and you wouldn't even have the courtesy to share one with me, and now you're yelling at me for sleeping outside your house, when, clearly if you would have helped me out of your damned trap in the first place, I wouldn't even be here to bother you!" With a small snarl of annoyance, the tan-pelted beast sat on his haunches with a sigh, having not meant to explode at the other, but it had become increasingly difficult not to with the manner in which he woke up, and was now being treated.

"Look. I'm sorry. I guess I just needed a place to crash. I'll just finish my meal, and I'll be on my way. You don't have to be so pissy about it. You should be grateful that I caught you enough food for a couple of days, anyway, but I'm not gonna bug you for a thanks or anything. I won't get one, even if I asked nicely, I'm assuming." Turning back to his stringy meal, he practically scarfed down the squirrel, his tail wagging once when he was finished, though, strangely, he felt that it might've been rude to leave just then.

"Your name was Nori... Right?"
