Phobias I fear few things. However, losing a fight, being unable to protect those around me, and clowns would be pretty high up there. I dislike losing, considering it makes me feel less of myself. If I couldn't protect those around me, it would be like losing. And clowns...well, who isn't afraid of them?

JEALOUS . . .
►► Due to the fact that Shu has grown up as a secondary figure (or so he has in his mind), he gets very jealous of those around him, especially his brother, Lee.
EGOTISTICAL . . .
►► Shu's ego has only recently developed with the "disappearance" of his brother. He took over the group and the spotlight, and he finds anything he fails at an insult.
CONFIDENT . . .
►► His confidence in himself is easily considered his fatal flaw. He finds himself capable of taking on any task and doing anything, which isn't exactly assisted by the fact that a lot of his traits are simple to him and difficult to others.

■ □ ■ Shu's story isn't sad, depressing, happy, joyous, or any real emotion. It was an angry, lonely childhood. His mother fell for the god Apollo and that was where the problems started. When he turned four, she fell for another, who stayed with her for a few months. This coupling created Lee Taeyang Chang, his little brother. However, at age four, when he should have been concerned about what he was going to play with next, Shu had to become concerned with caring for his baby brother. Barely able to care for himself, he found this a complete horror, and took care of Lee while his mother, Shima, worked. When he turned six, a wonderful change came.
They moved to San Diego, America.
When the public school began, Shu was at a complete disadvantage. He knew literally no English, and had to learn from those around him, finding what things changed to. For Lee, who grew up in America, becoming bilingual was no problem. However, Shu worked hard and was speaking fluent English with a slight accent with no congratulations from those he learned from, from his brother or mother...after all, he barely saw his mother, and his little brother could barely speak anything.
As he rose through the levels of school, he took chorus class, which taught him how to read music. It was the only thing that his dyslexia wasn't able to affect, and he adored the music. He learned how to sing, and soon after, he got into the theatre program at his school with musicals mostly, but many were jealous of his ability to memorize dance steps and music at a glance. He could memorize lines too, when he sat down to decipher them, which was always interesting in a cold read where he had not prepared.
Again, there was no recognition. In his first play, he had managed to get his teacher to grant him a front row seat for his mother and little brother. However, his little brother came. It was because he was helping tutor someone after school, but his mother never came.
Soon, another fad came through America: Asian Pop.
Lee had adored SHINee, and when asked to join his "impersonation group," Shu readily agreed. They started learning dances with their friends, and during this time, Shu picked up some bad habits from older members of different competing dance teams. He started to smoke and dress differently. He pulled away from his unsupportive mother, and his little dependent brother. Then came the factor that finally set Shu off.
They had known that Lee was a demigod. More and more, Shu had noticed the monsters crowding the audience at their performances, and Shu mostly worried for himself. He, too, was a demigod. However, the first thing that his mother said was that they had to get Lee to safety. At the night of the competition, a satyr took Lee to safety through the back stage.
A month later, Shu took himself to Camp Half-Blood, quite insulted that nothing chased after him. He was older, stronger, and dammit, he was worth the trouble of taking down! When he crossed the border, he was checked over, and given a clean bill of health, he was placed in the Hermes cabin for the time he was unclaimed. That night, at the fire, he was claimed by Apollo, and a hatred for his father began to take root...
