Hello everyone. A couple of weeks ago, I made a thread regarding the activity of the guild. I hate to do this again, but it is a must due to the current situation out guild is in.

Here are some facts that I have collected:
- The guild generates around 40-60 posts per day (PPD) as of the last few days. It was the highest in late August at 160 posts per day, and in early September, it was around 110 posts per day. As you can see, that's a significant drop.

User Image

- Out of 632 members, only 10 people submitted an entry for the art contest, or about 1.5% of the community participating. There were ZERO entries for the written part of the art contest.

- The Feed Meowmix event, so far only 14/632 members have submitted at least one set of components, or 2.2% of the population here. Only 1/632 people has completed the whole contest, and in the last 3-4 days, there has been only TWO more submissions for completion of components in a meal.

- Less and less people are also commenting on the written work our writers are doing for the guild.

So guild members, these statistics are somewhat alarming to me. I expected much higher turnout rates for both contests AND I was hoping that our activity wouldn't decrease below 90 posts per day, but it is unfortunately.

Now, I want to make this clear but this is no particular one person fault, nor is it the fault of the whole community here. I do not want people to feel as if they're obligated to participate within events or post in the forum just to maintain an illusion of activity. But I must say, as a guild leader, I was very disappointed with the turnout rates especially. It somewhat feels as if all the hard work and hours spent into preparing these events, contests, and written reports are not even being appreciated by the users and are not working as a means of increasing activity, but rather the opposite. With turnout rates as low as the last two events, it's hard to create a new event or host a new event now without being discouraged by the prediction of an even lower participant rate.

The last thread we had allowed discussion for users to suggest ideas that would hopefully help out the activity. Many of those ideas were implemented however activity took a turn south rather than up. I do not believe that there is a solution that can be suggested to truly increase activity within the guild at this moment that hasn't already been attempted.

This thread will be open for discussion on reasons regarding the activity drop, and participant drop. Though ideas for increasing activity can be suggested, like said above, minor suggestions will most likely not be implemented unless they're critical.

Thanks again everyone!

I'm really sorry about that Zandy. To tell you the truth, I wasn't very active either; blame school, after school activities, and chores. stare

It was not solely one persons fault or the community as the whole, but rather the fact that so much is going on for everyone right now that is deteriorating the guild's activity sad .

Why don't we do another gathering in the towns? Lots of people came to that, and it was enjoyable smile

Yes, why don't we (as in others in the guild and not just myself xP)?

The thing is, I myself can't be planning tons of gatherings. I find it incredibly hectic to think of a theme, have prizes, manage timezones, advertise it in the announcements, get people to coordinate, and etc... It takes a lot of effort to make things like that adhere to the satisfactory quality I try to make the guild events be. And also, me working on that would take time out of what really matters, which is getting more activity within the guild.

Though I am not too fond of having tons of out-of-guild type of gatherings, people are more than open to create little gatherings of their own and I could broadcast them. However, I would not be able to attend these types of events on a regular basis.

Well a drop in activity is to be expected when school starts. No offense, but as far as I go, I prioritize school and all that before internet things. That's just how I am, and I'm sure I'm not the only person that has this mindset.

But, I digress from this particular post.

As far as your attitude towards my proposal, who are you referring to as we? Not just anyone can start up a thread calling for a gathering or event in the guild. People are going to look for validation from crew members and guild leaders. I realize that you don't have a lot of time and energy to put together events and such for the guild, but a lot of us guild members don't either. I think you should personally sit back and think about how to maximize activity while still putting school, jobs, etc. as variables. I'm open to giving advice if you need any...I've ran a few guilds/clans/groups on the internet myself emotion_yatta

I know that school is a priority, and I want it to be above this guild as I believe an education is one of the most important things to become successful. I was expecting a drop as said many times before due to school starting, however the drop was so significant compared to what was predicted.

By "we" I am referring to everyone in the guild. And my intentions for this guild was always to allow people to do whatever they so please in the guild (of course following the Gaia Rules).

I understand that there is a certain issue with validity of some people forming events themselves, however, I do believe that most time, people will come through and work their hardest in ensuring the event or gathering comes together. Of course, there's always the possibility that a random coordinator of a gathering does not show up, etc..., but the fact is, most times that won't happen. The people who put the effort in to creating an event most often will try to make it amazing smile .

This is another thing I have a bit of an issue with. I have looked at ways in which I can maximize the activity. For example:

1. I've tried to incorporate people's suggestions into the guild (a lot of suggestions which the individual users could have incorporated themselves, such as the Homework helpthread). A list of these suggestions can be found in the previous thread regarding activity.

2. I've sent quite a few applications to various places trying to advertise the guild, including an application to be spotlighted on the front page of Gaia. Unfortunately, these methods of advertisement take a very long time to get through if they do get through at all, and some can be quite costly.

3. I've tried to make the official events of the guild vary in types so that various groups can participate. As well, events such as the first gathering was planned on a Sunday, which was not just coincidence but was rather to ensure that most people could attend without school being an issue.

The problem is, I never intentionally wanted to run a guild in which I was the primary leader making all of the decisions and controlling everyone's ways. I wanted Dream World to always be a community place where everyone can talk about whatever they want, where people don't have to constantly ask me if they can do something, where people make their own little contests and people participate and get to know the community, etc... The only role that the staff and I have in this guild is to ensure an authority if a dispute between two users happen, or if contest in breaking Gaia's TOS is displayed.

Also, this is in fact the second guild I have ran, and I have been experienced in moderating various forums off of Gaia as well. However, there is no exact solution to fix the guild activity without either getting the whole community to see this guild as a community and propose ideas that will gain momentum, or investing incredible amounts of gold into advertising (which I cannot do, however I have sufficient funds to do so in a matter that's not overdoing it).

Another shocking statistic. In the last 19 hours, not a single person has posted in the forums, with this post breaking that record sad .

Yeah I have had school and other things come up. But to be honest, I think a factor that can be taken in is we all remember the contest to get people to join. Yes that got people to join but some people invited could have had low intrest in being in a guild. But that is just a theory as I have seen it happen before. For the most part school is a main factor for pretty much everyone here which I can say is a well known fact. With college stuff added on to school, and its many projects. My activity in even my PS3 became extremely low.

School seems to be everyone's reason..

I feel that people are just in this guild for the money and once they get it, they'll just forget all about the guild and move onto another way of earning money.
But that's just my idea. .

It's like deja vu from our clan.

1.) I'm questing, so i've been selling many items lately
2.) I have a time limit of 2 hours, since of my grades in school.

but i do come in post. c:
