(Will make this a bit prettier and the entries a bit more interesting to read later.)

Within the grandeur that is D&D, weapons and armor become somewhat of a necessity, especially for adventurers like yourself. Most of the mundane items you come across will either be made of iron or steel, which have no real difference between one another aside from weight. But what if you come across a chest in a dungeon with a battleaxe made from special silver that works well against lycanthropes? Or perhaps your travels have brought you to a barbarian village who do not have ready sources of iron for production? Well that's where this thread comes in. Here I have compiled a list of superior as well as inferor materials for weapons and armor taken from various sources, including the Dark Sun setting. From adamintine to bone, all materials here can be used freely, whether at the DM's discretion or simply because you feel a stone axe fits your character more.

While a PC isn't allowed to take a superior material such as adamintine, one is freely allowed to take an inferior material unless the DM objects. Do remember though, a weapon made of stone or wood is clearly inferior to one made of iron or steel. Unless otherwise noted, using certain material in your equipment will incur penalties in their use. After all, that gold sword you carry around might make for a nice symbol of status for your paladin, but gold remains a soft metal and is likely to break easily. Inferior matieral however is optional however and need not be implemented.

Materials to be listed:
Adamantine
Alchemical Silver
Bone
Bronze
Cold Iron
Darkwood
Dragonhide
Gold
Ice
Mithral
Nexavaran Steel
Obsidian
Silversheen
Stone
