Jack had been rather pouty about Reynold revoking his speech rights, but decided to do as told--for once--and quietly follow the mercenary. Most people witnessing this scene would be surprised Jack hadn't exploded or something from the built up pressure, but the doctor seemed fine with these conditions. The red head kept his eyes on the forest around them, observing as he loved to do sometimes. He stopped a few times, examining odd scrap markings on trees--possibly made from climbing claws of some kind--and later clear tell-tale signs of a creature sharpening it's horns on an old fruit tree.
The bird-ish lizards and sometimes a monkey-squirrel-ish thing would appear in the tree branches, but Jack wasn't interested in those. He'd already dissected many. No ... he wanted something more unique than those. The doctor would sometimes motion Rey to stop, so he could look inside little hollows or possible dens. But so far all he'd found was ... zip. Zero. Nothing.
How boring. Jack sighed to himself, checking another hollow in a fallen tree ... when he hear and almighty hiss from inside. The doctor jumped back, surprised, then grinned merrily at Reynold. "Here that? I've never heard that kind of noise before. At least, not from anything brought in. Sounds kind-of like a cat though." Okay, he broke the no-talking rule. And he was about to break another dozen by sticking his hand into the hollow a second time, even though whatever was inside could be poisonous or worse. "Oh ... feisty one," Jack said, bringing his pack around and opening it one-handed, to pull out a small cage. He'd been prepared for little game--because he only wanted something small. Nothing big or fancy ...--and quickly yanked the creature out of it's den and into the cage, shutting the box door quickly.
"Hm." Jack examined his bloodied hand, bite and scratch marks prevailing. "Well, if I keel over and start frothing at the mouth, we'll know if it's venomous or not!" the doctor said cheerfully, standing up. Bag on his pack and box in hand with the raging fury inside, Jack motioned for Reynold to escort him back ... which would probably take a while. And the Jackal didn't seem in the mood to stop now that he'd started. "Oh ... what a pretty thing. It has bat-wings, Rey. Oh, and look at that! It's snarling at me! How cute. Odd body make up ... It's head and tail kind of look cat-ish. But it's definitely got the body of a flyier. This is a flying mammal ... though, so far all I've seen are those tiny lizard things. Fascinating, having two radially different species both have flight ... This little batty is a fatty though!" Jack laughed, grinning at the raging, furry fury he'd caught, hand still bleeding.

Reynold enjoyed the silence. He didn't need a headache. That would just worsen his mood. And no one wanted there to be a grumpy reptilian man brooding around. That was just an 'accident' waiting to happen. Anyway, the mercenary scanned around the forest as they trekked on, keeping his senses alert for any kind danger. Seems there wasn't anything too bad this far out.
Soon, he was getting bored himself. There wasn't much to do. Nothing to kill. Just a bunch of little creatures that weren't worth his time. As the loony scientist checked yet another hollow tree, he looked around at all the vegetation. A normal person would have stopped and thought that it was a beautiful sight. He could care less. Then again, he wasn't a normal person. He was probably just as crazy as Jack. Just in a different direction. His insanity wasn't as easy to spot.
Then Reynold heard that hissing. So much for silence. Why'd the doc have to talk? His voice was so annoying. Of course, to him, everyone's voice was annoying. He wanted to shoot down every living being around him. A life of pure solitude. That way he could never be hurt. Never again.
And why did this doctor have to be so cheerful. He sighed as they walked back, the scientist ranting on. How he wished that bite was venomous. After a while, Reynold started hissing, hiss reptilian side showing.. "You don't shut your mouth, I'll make sure you can never cut open another creature.. Can't hold a knife with your hands sliced off.. Maybe I should cut off your feet and pull out your vocal cords while I'm at it." There's the man insanity.

Jack pouted at Rey again. Pah, he's so grumpy today .. oh, wait. He's always like that. The scientist rolled his eyes, shutting his mouth ... but starting to hum instead, still examining the creature he'd caught bloody-handed. It was ... female? Yes, definitely female. At least to his eyes. And she was still quietly hissing, pressed up close agaisnt the back of the cage like a feral feline, slitted eyes glowering in animalistic rage while her long--wing tipped?--tail lashed around. Fascinating. Jack couldn't wait to observe what the winged-bat-cat did in a larger cage, and possibly getting to so those wings in action. He wanted to observe her as much as possible before cutting her open.
The scientist would've continued speaking to Reynold about this but knew not to push his luck. Not with this killer. Besides, it wasn't worth risking his limbs just for the sake of conversation. Even Jack's humming stopped as he held the cage and looked around as they walked, wondering what larger predators might be lurking about, just out of sight. Sometimes, at night, he'd heard howling, so there were larger animals out here besides those pigs and deer-things--hellish beasts, those--they'd found so far.
Jack paused a moment, looking to the side. Had he seen some movement ...? No ... it must've just been the wind. The doctor laughed at himself, and kept on after Rey. It would take them a while to walk back, but at least he'd still found something interesting.

Reynold was a little surprised by Jack's cooperation but at the same time, wasn't. Even the psycho doctor knew better than to cross the reptilian. Rey kept a look out for anything harmful. Not there was anything that harmful around these parts. He's been through here several times. he's been a little further too. He's seen glimpses of some fearsome things. Well, fearsome to others. He really wasn't scared of much.
After a little more walking, Reynold's leg started bothering him. There was a recent wound there. A gash from a little encounter with one of those deer like animals. He may have gotten a wound but he also had a nice dinner that night. The mercenary groaned, stopping to take a look at the wound. The stitches were coming loose. He cursed under his breath. That damn antler got him good. It was a deep gash and wasn't healing like Reynold would like it to.

Jack blinked, watching Reynold inspect a recent wound. It wasn't a surprising sight. The reptilian may be an expert fighter, but he was also one without anything to hold dear; that made him just a tad bit more reckless with his body than most; where others would hesitate in fear for their own skin, Rey had no hesitation. One of the few qualities in the man that had caught Jack's interest int the first place.
The doctor sighed, putting his prize down and motioning Reynold to sit. "Come now, let me see if I can get that straight for you. No arguing. You know you've been pushing yourself too much again. You're no good to me if you get us both killed by being a second too slow because of your leg. I can stitch you up tight in a jiff. Not that you're not uptight enough already," he laughed merrily, pulling a med kit out of his handy dandy bag, and some threaded needle as well. "Now, this will only hurt a lot ..."

Reynold huffed but sat anyway. He growled at Jack's little joke about him being uptight. Who did he think he was? He knew nothing about Reynold. And Reynold didn't care to share his story. No one knew much about Reynold. Only that he was an expert killer and would do almost any job for the right price. Reynold scowled at the nature about him. Well, he always scowled but still. {Geh... Shortness}

((Gives us more time to see natives >w<))
Jack only laughed at Reynold's scowling, kneeling and turning to get a good look at the wound. "Do hold your pant-leg out of the way, will you?" the doctor huffed, as if affronted Rey hadn't thought to comply sooner, and got to work. With little snips from a small pair of scissors, he cut away the current stitches, then got to work sewing Reynold back up again. "You know, your blood is red. Fascinating. I would've thought it was blue ... or green ... How about rainbow! That would've been so much fun, Reynold! Why can't you be more spectacular and bleed black or something, then I could hypothesis that your heart was literally foul enough to produce black muck instead of real red blood cells and that you're really related to Satan instead of a lizard."

[Maybe I can led a machete to your mental thicket!]
As the two conversed, one native leader caught their strange words. Her ears honed in on the sounds of the foreign language and she signaled the others to follow her. And be quiet. The chief then started to carefully creep towards the two humans. She began to wonder what they were saying. After all, their language and the one the natives used seemed to be so different.
It didn't take the troop long to find the human and reptilian. The chief silently crept out on a bent tree that hung over the outsiders, claws carefully digging into the bark to keep her stable, and looking down through the leaves to watch them. She used her spear as a stick to help her keep balanced and not move enough to startle any chitas. They'd give their positions away immediately.
But Nikaria wouldn't get to observe long. There was a loud snap. The chief's ears and head whipped back to see one of the blasted rookies had stepped right on a twig. She would strangle him later. She made sure not to move so quickly again as she glanced over her shoulder to look at the visitors, motioning for the warriors and her son to back off and find a safer position. She needed to make sure Droka got away. Even if it meant distracting these two herself.
[Hope you two don't mind the interruption.]

Reynold rolled his eyes before holding his pant-leg. His upper lip twitched a bit as the needle went through that first bit of skin. After that, it was nothing. He was plenty used to pain. He huffed as the doctor went on about his blood. "So sorry I'm not spectacular enough for you. A snake's blood is red. Why should mine be any different?... Now just shut up and finish quickly.. You're voice is giving me a headache.." The man crossed his arms, closing his eyes as he tried to blocked the doctor out and listened more to nature. It was then that he heard the snap. He hissed, his eyes opening. Those eyes {not sure what color} changed. The coloring was a bit different and his pupils were slits. His claws grew from his hands and his fangs showed as he hissed. He looked around before spotting something. A strange creature indeed. And he could smell more than one. "Seems we've been discovered..."
Droka maneuvered gracefully though the trees, keeping a good distance from his mother. He stopped as his mother did, hearing that strange language. That's when his eye sighted the two strange outsiders. Funny. One smelled of a reptile. How interesting. This piqued the prince's curiosity. It was then that Spark landed on Droka's shoulder, careful not to dig in his claws. Even though Nikari had instructed them to back off, Droka wanted to get a better look. He went with the movement of the branches swaying in the breeze as he moved a little closer. Then, as he reached for a branch, he slipped. Damn his depth perception. Droka landed a few feet from the outsiders, thankful able to land on his feet. Spark followed after to help his friend our. Drok quickly got his arrow and notched an arrow.
As he did so, the bigger of the two strangers stood. Reynold took out his pistol and aimed it at the creature that 'dropped in'. Uh-oh. Droka had really gotten himself into something this time. Droka kept his eye on the two but he was able to signal the others and Spark just to go. He didn't want them all in this. Especially not his mother.
Reynold kept his gun aimed at this odd native's head. "Well... What do ya think, doc?" Now would have been the one time he'd actually let the scientist speak {Thought it might be interesting if the Prince got in a bit of trouble. AS long as Jack doesn't cut him open first...}

Jack just laughed, thinking it funny his voice gave the other a headache. Though, he did sigh, giving a 'bloody hell' as he quickly finished the stitching as best he could as Reynold moved. The doctor didn't much care for splitting his attention. So, it was quite a pleasant surprise when he looked up to see what Rey was making such a fuss about. And what a sight it was~
"What do I think? I think we're going to need a bigger cage, that's what I think. Though, the cages back at base held one deer pretty well for a little while. He'd fit just fine. Though, how do you propose we bring him back? Breaking the legs would be such a shame ... and killing him outright would be no fun at all ... I know!" Jack had been quite gleeful in his speech the whole time, not even hinting to violence in his speech. Though ... to anyone, his smile was ... not right. "Eh-hem. Helloooo," Jack said, extra slowly, "I'm Jack. Jaaaack. He's Rey. Reeeey. Jaaaack. Reeeeey. Oh, I do so hopes this works. I saw it on Tarzan. Jaaack. Reeey." Jack was gesturing to the appropriate person with each name, and gave Reynold a poke. "Oh come now. Be friendly. It's a sentient species. Plus, if we're friendly enough, perhaps I can bring one home to dissect!"

Nikaria was about to have a heart attack. Her son had fallen right into the clearing with the beings. And they were moving in on him. The reptilian one held up one of their strange weapons at her prince while the other one, the.... creepy one, tried to talk to Droka. She wasn't having any of this.
She jumped from her tree above them and landed between Rey's gun and her son. She held her spear quite defensively, tapping it lightly against Droka's bow, meaning to put it away and get out. She kept her glaring amber eyes on the two visitors as she turned to her son. "Droka. Get back to the village. Warn the patrols. I won't let you argue on this. I am ordering you as chief. Get out of here." she muttered to him sternly in their native tongue, still watching the odd-legged ones.
The chief's grip on her primitive spear stayed strong, waiting for her son to move. She wasn't about to let this odd weapon have a chance to hurt her heir. She was Droka's mother. She had to protect him, even if it meant her life. But she didn't want to strike them, cause conflict. That's the last thing she wanted. Nikaria tried to stay defensive and not move from the gun's path. She glanced over her shoulder for only a moment to see if Droka was leaving as ordered.

Droka held his ground, doing his best not to show even an inkling of fear. Then one of those outsiders began speaking. Droka's brow furrowed, barely understanding a word. "Rrr... eey," he muttered, trying one of the words out. It was such a strange language. Then the last thing Droka wanted to happen happened. His mother dropped down to protect him.
Reynold smacked the back of Jack's head as he tried to communicate with the animal-man. He heard that creature mutter his name. What a quick learner. It was then that another creature appeared. It seems just a hint of a smile curled on Rey's lips, though it was extremely hard to tell. "Can I at least kill this one? All you need is one, right?" A tinge of excitement was laced in Ray's usual gruff voice. He always liked a trip if he got to kill something.
Droka didn't like the tone in the bigger outsider's voice as he spoke. He may not have understood what had been said but he knew it wasn't good. ".. No, Mother.." The first time he has ever said no to his mother. "I'm more resilient.. And quicker... You go back, please... I'd rather they have me than you.... I promise.. Nothing will happen to me. Just go.."
Reynold was tired of all this weird talking. "That's enough.." He pulled the trigger. Droka reacted in a split second. He dropped his bow and pushed his mother other of the way. Luckily, the bullet only grazed the prince's right arm, scrapping off a good few layers of skin. He yelped in pain, gripping that part of his arm. "GO NOW!" Spark wanted to help but knew he should listen to his friend. He flew off, making himself visible for only a few seconds before disappearing.
Reynold was ready to shoot again. This time, he wouldn't miss..

"Ouch!" Jack frowned, giving the back of his head a ginger rub. "Rey, you're always so rough with me," he complained sourly, at first not answering the question. Dead or alive, these creatures would be fascinating to cut open ...
The scientist jumped at the gun shot, chiras within a mile radius all taking flight at once because of the unnatural bang. "Rey! Now look what you did ... you're horrible at making friends, you know that?" The red head scolded the mercenary, but his eyes were on the two creatures. Clearly, the wounded one was yelling a type of order at the female, though the female looked to be older and possibly of higher rank. Now, the question was, would the female flee, or fight?
That question was gone from Jack's mind when he saw a blur of black fly across the ground in a leaping run, tackling Rey from the side. The scientist blinked, raising an eyebrow and watching as if this were a very interesting television show, while Carrel--who had been attracted by the commotion--defended his tribe leaders. Or, tried to. He'd seen the metal item pointed in a threatening way, and understood it was a sort of weapon. So, he'd made sure to get one hand gripping the outsider's hand that gripped the weapon, pushing it up and aiming at nothing, while trying to distract/hold down this reptilian-smelling intruder.
The panther had clearly understood what the prince was trying to do, but felt this time obeying the royalty would be wrong to his own heart. Even if he wasn't a trained warrior, he was strong and fast; his claws dig a little into the outsider's skin, and his instincts as a feline helped him to know hoe to at least partially pin the odd reptile male. But ... he still wasn't a trained fighter. And the feel of the muscled limbs beneath him was a clear enough sign he wouldn't be able to hold this reptilian humanoid down for long. Surprise had probably been what had gotten him this far, with a healthy dash of luck.
Jack waited for Reynold to toss the overgrown cat off like the bother it was. He also sighed, seeing the scratches he'd have to clean up. Bother. The bat-cat was hissing and spitting like mad from all the commotion, so the red head--totally ignoring the seriousness of the situation, carefully packed the little cage away, so the female beast could have some dark quiet-time inside. "Remember Rey, I want at least one alive and relatively uninjured, take your pick man."
((Aaaand here's Carrel C: If there are any objections to his entrance, feel free to say so, and I can rewrite. ;3))

Nikaria suddenly found herself pushed aside, her ears ringing horribly. What was that loud noise?! It must have come from that metal thing the reptilian used. But what was more important was that her son was hurt. A graze yes, but he was still hurt none the less. And that made her maternal side kick in. She immediately went to his side, tearing off some of the fur that she wore and wrapped it around the wound. She then saw Carrel come out of nowhere and tackle the larger outsider. Was he insane?! She quickly helped her son to his feet, grabbing his bow, forcing it into his hands, and pushing him towards the vegetation. She then began to contemplate how to grab that nutty panther and get out of there without dieing.
She grabbed her spear and eyes the skinny one with the odd smile. He had one of their small night flyers in a cage, throwing a fit. Sadly she couldn't help the poor thing. She could probably one save one of them if she was lucky. She had to save one of her tribe. That crazy tamer. Nikaria grabbed Carrel by the tail and yanked him off the reptilian. She then flung him into the undergrowth by his tail, not caring to hear any complaints. Of course now she was there by herself with these two. The bigger one was no doubt going to recover quickly. The chief tried to run for it and follow the exits she had forced the other two to make. She just prayed the others were far enough away to run back into their group or another patrol to get them back to the village.
